Canal System
This natural Canal System has served as a backbone for the Central District since Olympia's very inception. The initial settling point of the Pioneers, people used wood to make bridges to cross and not only used the Canal as a convenient way to travel around their settlement but also as a means to grow important food stuffs.
As Olympia expanded, these Central Canal settlers soon began to profit on the outer districts reliance on them for food. And soon, the Central District was able to gain enough power to delegate the task of producing food to the people on the fringes of the settlement. After that, rich from years of trading and having already been settled around the canals for some time the Central Olympians began to make changes to the Canals to make them more aesthetically pleasing. Sure they were still used to travel via new fancy Gondolas. However, the water levels were risen, walls were built to heighten the banks and mooring points were dotted about the water's edge.
All in all, the once might seat of power became nothing more than a decoration.
The canals are split into two lanes. One side goes one way and one side goes the other, a gondola driver should always be on the LEFT side of the canal. There are also special u-turn points within the canals though so that punters can change directions.
