((Han, Jade and Casper enter from Jade's room)) Life's simple, you make choices ⋙
Han set their luggage on the conveyor belt so they could be checked. His carry on, was just his laptop, knowing that they had a long trip ahead of them. He would need something to do, even if it was just playing solitaire or writing that report for Language Arts.
He noticed the looks that observers gave Jade when she walked in with Casper as her guide. He knew that she couldn't see which bothered him even more. He hated how people stared. Heaven forbid they ever find out that they were mutants. At least their powers were easy to hide, as long as they didn't use them. Jade's was easiest to hide, if she didn't have an instrument to play.
"Jade, they are going to need to check your carry on too," he said, knowing that her carry on was only her violin.

Please Don't Stop the Music ♬ ♪ Jade could feel the weight of the stares she was getting. She could almost feel every set of eyes watching her, without knowing how many people were in the airport. She was used to it. She knew that she got the stares, even at the school. There were some things that would never change. She kept her grip on Casper's harness as he led her, safely, through the crowd. Her new staff tapped the ground in front of her, so that she wouldn't trip over anyone or anything. Casper was good at keeping her from running into obstacles, no matter how small.
Jade listened to the soft thuds of their suitcases being placed on the conveyor belt and Han telling her that they would need to check her carry on. It was only a violin but she was always afraid that there would be a new rule that she couldn't have it with her. She nodded as the security guard took it and she could hear him opening the locks.
"Please, be careful," she nearly pleaded, as she took as step forward.
The man eyed her and nodded. "Yes, miss," he said with a gentle voice. "I play a little myself. I will be sure to be careful." He paused and noticed the dog with the vest that marked him as a work dog. "I'm using gloves and I will wipe her down when I'm done. We just have to make sure that there are no weapons."
Jade smiled and nodded, feeling at ease, knowing that the man would be careful. "Thank you," she said. She heard the cloth come out and wipe down the black wood. Then she heard the locks latch again.
"All clear," he said. "It will be waiting for you on the other side of the gate. "And your staff?"
Jade smiled. "It's metal, but it is only a staff," she said knowing it's secrets. "You may check it if you wish." She offered her staff. "I had a wooden one, but it snapped when I fell.
The man nodded. "Alright, I'll bring it on the other side too. You may walk through," he told Han. "Miss, we'll just wand you and your dog, the ground is a bit uneven, inside."
Jade nodded and was taken aside by another guard who told her to hold her arms out. She obeyed and after the curious Casper was scanned, they moved on through the security checkpoint. Her violin and staff met her on the other side.

Han smiled when the guard was nice enough to clam Jade's fears of her violin being harmed. He watched the man and nothing was harmed. He stepped through the gates, which were quite uneven and waited for Jade on the other side.
He smirked when Casper's curiosity showed when another guard scanned him with a wand. Then, Jade and Casper got the all clear to go on through to wait by their flight gate.
Han handed Jade her staff and carried his laptop and her violin so that Jade could hold onto Casper, who would lead her safely through the crowd, if they were to become separated.
"We have a half hour before our flight," he told Jade, as they walked towards their gate. "It is a long flight but we only have one lay over in Houston."
He led the two, to their gate where all the seats were taken. It would be a packed flight to Houston. Still, more people stared at Jade and Casper as they walked by.

Please Don't Stop the Music ♬ ♪ Jade followed Han to their gate. Casper led her around obstacles and was careful to not get carried away with the stampede of passengers racing in the opposite direction.
She stood next to Han for several minutes before their flight was announced and they began to move towards the forming line of passengers. Jade turned and accidentally bumped into a rather grumpy business man.
"Hey! Watch where you're going," the man barked at her .
"I'm sorry," she apologized and tried to determine how bad the damage was. She didn't hear anything spill, which she was thankful for. "I will try..."

Han waited patiently for their flight to be called. He watched the people around them, as they all seemed to be watching Jade and Casper. The dog always brought attention. A couple small children came up and showed some innocent attention to the dog and asked about Jade's staff. Han gently told them that Jade was allowed to take the staff and Casper with her because she couldn't see. The children seemed to understand, in their innocence and one gave Casper a treat.
When their flight was called, Han moved behind Jade, so that he could direct her to their seats. They had window seats, and Jade had said that Casper could sit by the window. Han would sit near the aisle so that no one tripped over Jade's staff and he wouldn't have to climb over her, if he needed to get up and walk. He imagined that Jade would sleep most of the way, if there were no crying babies or loud sleepers.
Then, a man bumped into Jade and blamed her for his mistake. "Hey, man," Han said, jumping to Jade's defense. "She's blind. What's your excuse?"
"So she is," the man grumbled. "So maybe you should keep her out of everyone's way."
Han's blood began to boil. "She has just as much freedom as the rest of us. Maybe you should watch where you are going and I'll do my best to guide her away from a**holes like you."
The line ahead of them moved and Han gently nudged Jade to move. The business man found his seat in first class and Han let Jade know when to take a right and find the second seat as he put her violin in the compartment above them.

Please Don't Stop the Music ♬ ♪ Jade felt sad and somewhat helpless, but at the same time, she felt that she was protected when Han took a stand for her. She didn't agree with some of the words that Han had chosen to describe the man, as they found their seats, but she didn't say anything. She knew that Han's intentions were pure and even though the human race was against anything different, he too saw enough good to warrant protecting them. She knew that if anything happened, Han would be the first to protect the business man who rode in first class.
Casper found his seat by the window and immediately wanted to look out the window. Jade buckled him in, through his harness, so that he wouldn't wander off, though he was good about that. She made sure that the window shade was open so that Casper could watch the world minimize in flight.

Han smiled and shook his head as he watched Jade make sure that even Casper was following the rules. Han buckled himself in, before the flight attendants could switch on the light or begin their speech on flight safety. He had been through it a dozen and a half times before. Probably more than that.
"Hey, Jade,"he said as he reached into his carry on and pulled out his lap top. "I have headphones if you want to use them," he offered, pulling out a pair for her and a pair for him. He also pulled out an mp3 that had braille on it so that Jade could manage the songs better. At least the music could keep out the whispers or snores of other passengers.
He wondered if Casper would be okay, on the flight. He wasn't sure what the pressure would do to his ears, but he had watched Jade do something to the dog's ears, on their way to the airport.
