More specifically, to the river and waterfall near the furthest boundaries into the grounds. After removing his shirt, he dove straight into the water, letting the cool tide settle his nerves and ease his anxiety from the final exam. To be fair, it hadn't been overly difficult for him; years of preemptive training with his father had prepared his chakra control to a rather significant level, allowing him to transform and create illusion clones with relative ease.
More like...it was the atmosphere in the room that gave him the chills. After watching the first two students fail, the mood was downtrodden from the get-go. Not only that, but his surname was one of the later letters in the alphabet; Ren got to watch a lot of ninja-in-training fail that exam before he passed, and it struck his nerves like lightning.
So he would relax for the time being. While under the surface of the water--since he could basically just manipulate the water away from his mouth, allowing him to breathe underwater--he practiced his manipulation abilities. Using the water behind him as a propellant basically allowed him to dart along inside the water, much faster than the fish could swim. Like a dolphin, he could repeatedly rise and fall, in and out of the water in leaps. Anyone that came in now would probably just think he was some sort of mermaid-posing psychopath, but that was the least of his concerns. xxxxx⇌
xxxxx From the ground, sprouted a young girl who yawned and stretched, she was taking a LITERAL dirt nap. After enjoying some sunlight, she pulled herself up from the ground and the roots connected to her legs wrapped around her thighs and shins, changed pigment to match her "clothing" and then melded. The young girl shook her legs once or twice and stretched them out with simple movements, in order to prepare for today's training regimen. Sensei or no sensei, she was going to become stronger, stronger than her uncle Zatoshi.
She noticed something was odd as she did a full 360 turn around to view the world, she had no glasses, everything was blurry. For a moment, she panicked, but then remembered that she took them off while she was sleeping. She knelt down and dug her hand into the ground, pulling the glasses out from the very earth and put them back on.
"Ah much better!"
She adjusted her glasses and noticed her fellow shinobi training to become stronger as well, it would be a shame when she bested them, but it was better to have them live their dreams and their nindos and such.
xxxxx Makoto would begin learning her Doton, since earth was necessary in order to become a stronger medic for the Hidden Leaf. Makoto would start by learning the Earth Military Movement Technique, a simple technique but one that would come in handy.
Makoto gathered chakra and formed a single handseal, having said chakra coat her entire body. Makoto would then meld her physical being into the very earth itself and dive underground, it was almost as if the young Genin was swimming in the earth itself. The young plant girl swam around for what seemed to be minutes, doing backstrokes, dog paddling, etc. Makoto kept swimming throughout the earth, rising back up to the surface after 4 minutes. Makoto formed two handseals and brought the chakra into the ground, in front of her. The chakra molded and shaped the earth while Makoto brought the earth up. With the chakra and the form before Makoto shaping into her image, she formed the final handseal and added the finishing touches to the duplicate. The duplicate, though made of earth, looked exactly like Makoto with no signs of imperfections on the body. Doton: Bunshin no Jutsu (Earth Release: Earth Clone Skill) Learned

She was waiting for that time of day where the sun would touch the sky the highest and the wind would blow the hardest. Once she got some wind to kick up in the training grounds, she stood herself up and formed two handseals. Her chakra captured and molded dust particles that were flying about from the increase in wind. The dust particles grew in size and gathered into the shape of her own chakra. The chakra molded itself into Makoto's image and then took her looks entirely to remove any imperfections. The dust clone stood there and was being inspected by the young Senju, she wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything inconspicuous about her doppleganger of dust and by far, it looked perfect. Koujin Bunshin no Jutsu (Dust Clone Technique) Learned
Makoto stuck her hand into the ground with chakra covering over both of her hands. Makoto pulled clumps of the earth from the ground and shaped them into spheres, the chakra covered over the earth spheres and hardened them. Makoto then proceeded to throw the spheres towards a nearby target, leaving deep dents in the target itself, even causing it to fall over. Doton: Iwa Tounyuu no Jutsu (Earth Release: Rock Throw Technique) Learned

After she arrived at the training ground Miyuki headed into a heavily wooded area and began collecting the firewood. It was a long and dull task, but it had to be done.If she didn't do it she could just imagine what the hokage would say. As she started to get worked up by her own imagination she stumbled and dropped the hundle of twigs she'd been gathering. Looking at the scattered branches and clenched her teeth and stamped her foot down.[1/2]
This was a ridiculious mission, the hokage only gave it to her because she was a girl! And with that thought running through her head she swung around and punched a nearby tree, her fist burying itself in the trunk. With her pent up rage released in that punched she pulled her hand out and gathered up the wood again before tying it into a bundle. [2/2]
Next item she had to get was water and where better than the local well. [exit]
⇋xxxxx After a short while of walking and talking, the trio found themselves at the training grounds. It seemed like a pretty predictable place for their sensei to come and meet them; it would also push forth the idea that they were eager to learn and advance; something that would hopefully put them in a higher regard from the get-go. Their sensei would know that they could handle additional responsibility, and thus, they would be given more missions and develop more quickly, which was exactly what Ren wanted. "So...we're here now. What would you guys like to do next?" xxxxx⇌
Honjo merely shrugged his shoulders as he fell over in the lush grass under the tree in a relax state. "We could spar with one another? But seeing how we all wennt to the same academy we all know only the basic arts." Honjo played with a long strand of grass in boredom. "In reality, the kage expects us to get better, but that would require a teacher...which we don't have."
Honjo turned his head towards Makoto, wanting to learn more about his teammates. "Hey Makoto, you and Ren are of the same house right? So does that make you two cousins?"
(You guys did use the five free autolearns given at the beginning, right?)

xxxxx ((Okay, first of all, yes I did use the free 5 autolearns, second, we need to remove the whole "need a teacher to train" rule. For one, I don't like to wait on other people in order train and get stronger, secondly, I know we're trying to remain authentic with Naruto, but even then, some techniques were trained on and developed alone by some of the genin in the manga AND anime, not all but some. I propose that a self training rule be placed for genin!))
Makoto fixes her glasses and leans against a nearby oak tree for support, the training grounds was a much quieter spot to speak among teammates and even get stronger as a unit. Only problem was, there was no sensei.
"We can at least s-spar with what we k-know to get a feel of e-each other's abilities and strengthen as a team. That way we can develop strategies with i-information on w-what we know of each other. I am a medical s-specialist, so I should d-develop on support mostly, this is a w-well known f-fact."
She turns to Honjo while twiddling her thumbs and answering the question with a blush on her face,
"W-well, you could say that, like the Uchihas and the Hyuugas are towards e-each other..."
Honjo stopped playing with the blade of grass. "That's cool, to have a big family clan, and all." Slow to get up Honjo began moving to his feet. "Well, I suppose if we are to have a sparing contest, we may as well get started. But I should warn you..." Honjo started as he tightened his belt. "I'm much more meaningful in the lines of tracking, and defense. Clearly there's room for improvement when it comes to my offensive skills."
