1Peter 3:10-11
“Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it."
Deceit means: hiding the truth, deceiving, or tricking someone by making them believe a false thing.
I should not speak any lie, deceit and trickery. I also should not say any evil thing. The Lord shall reward me with goodness all the days of my life.
I should remove any bad ways that I have that isn't pleasing the Lord. Even with simple ways...like not household chores, being disorganized and so on. I should also struggle to do what is good whatever the price maybe. And I should be at peace with people, especially brethren in Christ. I shouldn't have bitter heart with anybody instead I should always have good relationship with everyone, being humble, respectful and approachable.
1Chronicles 4:9-10
Jabez's prayer
Jabez's name came from pain because his mother gave birth to him in pain. But it is also written that Jabez was more honorable than his brothers.
Jabez prayed to God that He would bless him indeed and enlarge his territory. He also prayed that God's hand would always be with him to keep him away from harm so that he will be free from pain. God answered his prayer because he prayed to the Living God and he was a honorable man.
As I reflect it, I would also want to be blessed by God indeed and to enlarge my territory; and that God would always be with me to help me overcome every trial and pain.
Jabez prayed that he will be free from pain (his name was derived from pain; so it would be like his destiny will be in pain) Jabez wasn't going to let that happen so he prayed to God and lived a honorable life. He isn't going to give up; he isn't going to accept that his future will be in pain.
I should be also like that. I'm not going to accept that I'm just going to be like this. I'm not going to accept that I'm going to be bad at math for the rest of my life...God is indeed doing great miracles in my life! He's changed me and is still changing me. Since I was a little child I had hated math because I don't do well in it. But now, I will not accept that I'm going to be a slow learner in it. I shall finish my 5-year accountancy course and be a CPA someday! I know I will and I believe in my big God! He's done much miracles in my life and I believe He will continue and do something even more greater! Oh that God would bless me indeed! I believe He will! I will not give up. God will change me, and will give me great abundant blessings that I will be a blessing to others too. God will grant my prayer and I believe He will.
I will pray with you also my friend that He will, 'for all it takes is the faith the size of a musterd seed to move a mountain' (Matthew 17:14-20.)
You know you're Bible well, and seem to have a pretty good grasp on the big picture of what the word of God says. That in itself is a strong testimony my friend, and speaks volumes about you're faith in our Lord and Savior and Redeemer Christ Jesus.
No to sound all whatever and then some. But you did forget to mention that in 1st Peter 3:10-11 the 15th through 17th verse that goes hand in hand with what you are saying my friend. It says: (from the King James Version of The Holy Bible
smile 1 Peter 3:15-17.
v 15: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"
v16 : Having a good conscience: that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, that may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ."
v 17: "For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, then for evil doing."
I did not add those verse's to make you look badly, but just the opposite my friend to complete the status of the sermonette that you were delivering.
There are times when 'Iron sharpens iron.'
I keep my friends area open to those who are not just fair weather friends, and I would be honored if you would consider becoming one of mine.
May God truly bless you and your's in all that you do and say for His glory and increase.
You're friend in Jesus,
Philip
