This is the character profile thread for City of Lights.

You may have up to three characters (obviously you can't play an entire gang) and there are characters outside of the gangs as well. If the gangs fill up and one dies, there will be an open spot.

Jade was just a kid when Neon City was bought. She watched the city separate and cower in fear at the two gangs that formed because every city has them. They were fierce and she spent most of her nights under her bed, hiding from whoever may be looking. Her mother worked as a nurse in the hospital, five blocks from their house. She walked home every night, before Jade and her brother went to sleep.
On her way home, the White Lies drove by, shooting at anyone who was on the street. Six people were killed. Her mother was one of them. Shortly after that, Jade's brother, Dominic was diagnosed with cancer. He had his father's last name and Jade had her father's. Jade started stealing expensive things and selling it for money to pay the house bill and her brother's hospital bill. Hospitals showed no mercy on those who didn't have enough funds.

Jade has a huge problem with authority. She mouths off to the gang leader, she mouths off to police and any other person who tries to tell her what to do. She is strong willed and independent. She has a kind heart, despite being in a ruthless gang, and that heart goes out to the children with no families and the sick with no funds. She dances to the beat of her own drum and everybody knows it. She is often slow to anger unless you know how to push her buttons. Family is everything. Shortly after that, Dominic was diagnosed with early stages of cancer and began to go through chemo therapy. He wasn't sure what Jade was doing, but he imagined that she was staying out of trouble. She would come to the hospital, every so often, and visit him. He would wake up and talk to her for a while, until he found out that she was running around with the Black Lights. After that, he pretended to be asleep, because he didn't know what to say to her.
Over the past couple of months, Dominic has made some huge improvements in his treatment. The doctors have said that he is getting stronger and that he will have more good days than bad. Soon, they plan on transferring him to a sort of assisted living, until he fully regains his strength. Nic definitely has the older brother complex. He is a protector and a leader. He is unafraid of putting himself in danger, if it means the greater possibility of keeping someone else safe. He is kind, somewhat quick to anger, but only fights if someone else throws the first punch. He would take a bullet for his friends, co-workers and family. Eliot grew up in the city, before it was bought and changed. He lived a hard life. He was bullied at school and had his heart broken a number of times. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the police academy and excelled through the training and years it took to become a detective.
When he was a cop, he had a partner that soon became his fiance. The gangs began to form and became ruthless. The cops began to stay away from the gang activity but he kept trying to take them down. His partner got caught in the crossfire because he allowed her to go ahead of him. She died at the hospital and Eliot hasn't had a partner since.

Roman was born on the wrong side of the tracks. His two older brothers entered the gang life early and his mom never had enough money to make ends meet. When Roman was thirteen, he found that he had an art for hacking the atms, the security systems and really anything that took electricity or codes. He was expelled from one school for hacking the grading system and the vending machines.
When Roman was sixteen, he joined the Black Lights because they promised him money that would help his mom cover bills. He hid it from his mom because he didn't want her to worry. She doesn't ask where he gets the money, but she has her own ideas.

From a young age, John grew up an only child with the knowledge of drugs. He never knew his father, but his mother was a hard core user, often spending rent on what ever she could get her hands on. She worked as a phone sex operator, and often her many 'boyfriends' would use John abusivly or sexually. His mother didn't care so long as she got high or money to get high. When he was 12 he found a stray dog and brought it home. Unfortunatly, the animal was killed or as John called it, Murdered by the Devil. The one boyfriend that always came back, and he had the hardest hand.
When John turned 14, he finally 'beat the devil'. He was charged for brutally murdering his moms boyfriend by cutting his head off, but he was never convicted. When Rhayelin was young, she had it all. Happy family, big house, great school, good grades, and tons of friends. But when the town was bought up and was turned into a city everything but her family and house had been taken from her. She didn't mind this much but wanted to explore the new surroundings growing around her, her parents wanted to ship her off to some boarding school to get her away from it all but she took off instead.
A year or so passed and her parents couldn't find her so they left thinking the worst. What they didn't realize was that she was held up by the white lies and convinced to try somethings out. From there she became addicted to everything they put into her, she wanted to get away but couldn't, until she met JJ. He helped her get away from the white lies and in with the black lights.
