Today was not much different than any other day for Love Bubble; she was gazing around with her medium-sized cyan eyes, dutifully looking for traces of water that was in need of purifying, Sometimes, the water on the island would become contaminated with debris, waste, or gods-know what else, and the task of ridding the waters of harmful (or visually displeasing) contaminants rested upon Love Bubble's shoulders.
One thing that was a bit out-of-the ordinary for the lavender-coated unicorn was the location in which she was surveying. Typically, the mare would search in more of the central areas of Dream Valley, but presently she was pressing her hooves into the soft sandy beaches as she walked along the shoreline - the place where the land kissed the sea, and where the sun currently beat hotly on her coat and flowing aquamarine mane.
Though she rarely visited the beaches (unless she was needed, which was typically during stormy seasons), they were her favorite location on the island. The salty ocean air that she inhaled on her 'beach days' lingered in her nostrils for the rest of the day, and it reminded her of the sunny days of her foalhood, when she would gallop with her mother along the wet sand, getting her hooves wet. Those carefree days faded into her memory like her hoofprints, which were swallowed by the ocean waves as they swept over them in a crash of blue.
The ocean seemed to be pure enough today, so Love Bubble allowed her thoughts to wander. They led her to a place in her mind that she often dreamed about, but she rarely thought of on a conscious level. She scarcely thought of much other than her job anyway, being the focused and devoted young mare that she was, but the beach and the oceanic atmosphere facilitated these 'thoughts - ones of wonder and filly-like whimsy. Her mother used to regale her with ponytales of the mysterious ocean-dwelling mer ponies and sea ponies, and the marvelous and colorful world beneath the surface of the sea. She had always dreamed of meeting these ponies, and of exploring the mysterious world that lived under the very waters in which she faithfully cleaned whenever it was required cleansing.
But alas, unicorns could not breathe underwater long enough for any extensive exploration of the ocean depths. This was a fact, as far as Love Bubble knew, but a pony can dream, can't she?
