Just how old am I? It's been so long I can't recall but people often tell me that I look 21 but that is just my outward appearance.

There is no story to tell. Why you may ask? Because I no longer remember it. Whether from denial, a mental block in my brain, or from amnesia I don't remember most details of my life at all. One thing is for sure, I am not human. I may look it but I am not. I can tell by my own scent and the feelings I get deep down in the core of my very being. It's as if some part of me knows just knows that I am not human but every time I try and grasp memories long forgotten, they always manage to slip away. All I truly know is that when I woke up a couple centuries ago, my world was nothing but an enveloping darkness. I no longer house the ability to see.
When I first opened my eyes to the darkness, I could smell the rust and salty tang of blood. I instantly knew that it was my own. How it got there and who or what caused the injury is still a mystery to this day. All I knew at the time was that I was injured, I was cold, and I was slowly dying. The worst part was, I knew that no one would come to help me. Who would want to help a filthy, blood soaked blind woman? If there was one thing that I learned it was that someone doesn't usually help another unless it benefits them in some way. Several days passed before anyone came to help me. I could hear the footsteps of someone approaching and judging by how wide and strong the steps were, I would say it was a man and I was right. He came to help me, a crippled woman lying in the middle of an open field (he told me that later) and allowed me to experience the first kindness that I had received since I had opened my eyes to the impending darkness. He carried me to his home and treated my wounds. I could tell that he was using magic by the scent of potions and strange objects that absolutely defiled his house. Of course, when I was feeling better, the questions came. Where did I come from, how did I end up where I was, what is my name? And at that moment I realized that not only did I lose my sight, I also lost my memory. I couldn't even remember my own name.
He took me in then. A man named Shayde who specialized in injuries and potions. He was the one who gave me a name, gave me a new purpose in life. Ever Mabel Marlow. It was as if that name was the start of brighter days to come even if my sight would forever be shrouded in darkness. Shayde gave me a reason to live and even to this day, with him no longer around, I still remember the kindness he showed me and the hope he had given. Even though he couldn't cure my blindness, I still appreciated all he did for me.
I don't exactly remember when I fell in love with him. But Shayde soon noticed that I wasn't human. He, too, was not human. After spending a couple centuries with him, he noticed that I looked exactly the same as when he first saw me (minus the filth and blood of course). That didn't change the way I felt about him though. However, he was in love with another and I knew that we could never be. It broke my heart but I was also very happy for him. I could never hate the man who rescued me and treated me so well all these years. Soon he was married to his loved one but she didn't seem to like me very much. I could always hear her taunting chuckles whenever she entered the same room that I was in. Shayde could never hear them even though he would be standing right next to her. My blindness has caused my other senses to increases ten-fold and on top of not being human, I can do things that most humans are incapable of. I could hear her whispers behind my back, feel the sneers that were shot my way and hear the desire in her voice whenever she flirted with Shayde.
Things didn't get better. At one point, I could tell that she was trying to convince him that I was 'no longer needed' and he should get rid of me. I was actually surprised when he said that he wouldn't. I was incredibly happy when he said that but she, apparently, was not. She burst into tears and accused him of cheating on her with me. No matter how much he tried to calm her and get her to stop crying her obvious fake tears, she would not. He finally asked her to give him a few days to think about it. I didn't last those few days. She took me aside, late one night, and handed me a note. Since I obviously couldn't read she told me that the letter was an invitation to a place called Trinity Castle and they would take care of me from now on. The urge to scream and tell her that I refused to leave formed a lump in my throat but the scent of musk and sweat prevented me from doing so. I left right then and there never even getting a chance to say goodbye. But who would ever want a blind woman as a 'Pet?'

I have been told that I am a very kind person. I treat others with respect and am not stupid. However, I can be a bit sassy at times. I know when to back down from a fight but some things are just worth standing up for. I am kind of sensitive about my situation so don't ask me about it or else I'll clam up. But other than that I am generally a very open-minded person and I enjoy others' company.
What I can do? Well...
I am quite agile. I am very swift even though I am blind but you shouldn't underestimate me. I can also smell colors. Strange I know but it is true. I can even tell what species you are by just one smell. This one may also surprise you but I am a very strong fighter although I rarely need to use my fists to do the talking. I can also see stars which is why I really hate cloudy nights.
