||Island Kingdom||---------------||Desert Kingdom||---------------||Forest Kingdom||---------------||Mountain Kingdom||Kuryan | Kael |Galaxies away, on a distant, young planet, shadows began to walk. Grow. Learn. Teach. Love. They were a race of men, caught somewhere between human and corrupt genes. They appeared to be normal as any, were a human to visit, but they had no need for woman. In fact, they'd never seen a woman. Some men had it written in their DNA how to carry a child, and these were the mothers. The bearers. The life-givers. As if evolution had only let them come so far before giving up on woman all together. It could very well have been true, as there's always one flaw; these poor creatures haven't progressed to deliver the child through mere birthing. It's rather brutal, actually, how the mother's flesh must be ripped open, and child must be torn from his body. Though the race was different.. The story of humanity hardly changed.A Joining is not for love, they are taught at an early age; it is simply for furthering a family's power, and wealth. Producing children to carry on the tradition, and keep a bloodline strong. Kuryan had been raised under a strict King, and cruel Queen, their lessons burned into him by depriving him of food. While he learned chastity, and politics, he saw prince after prince; noble after noble and none impressed him. They were all tainted; evil in ways he could see right through. No matter what he'd been told about money and treaties... He knew there had to be a prince for him somewhere. He would abide by the laws, and marry of royal blood, but he wanted to be sure of the queen he took at his side when it came time to rule. Someone pure, faithful and honest. Someone educated, delicate, and...someone he would look forward to waking up to each day. -- In a country far from the desert lived the beautiful Kael; long dark hair, and light skin. In the stormy mountains he called home, he was taught purity, and honesty. He'd received an invite to the desert palace, and readied himself to arrive. He, too, wanted more than just a Joining for blood and wealth, but he couldn't fight for what he wanted. Born a Bearer, he would have very little say in the mate that chose him, not to mention his family's well-hidden struggle with wealth.. When he stepped onto the sand, revealing himself, everyone around would stand in awe. The one thing they had not been taught about was love. True love.

Kuryan had been informed of the next on the list, and wasted no time getting ready, with the helping hands of many servants. He was bathed, dressed, and adorned with jewels as any respectable prince should be. His hair was shaggy, nearly reaching his eyes in the front, and try as they could to style it, there was no taming his hair. Not like they needed to take their time, anyway, since he'd only be turning the prince away. He'd be impure, or dishonest, or selfish, and Kuryan would ask him politely to get a good rest before leaving.
His ati and matem awaited him in the grand hall, the queen smiling, "Our guest is here. Place yourself." He took a slow breath, and walked to stand beside his family, the guards helping the other prince into their palace, and escorting him to the hall. Many of them seemed taken with his beauty when he entered; like the moon on the coattails of midnight, and such starry eyes. He truly was a sight, but this was not Kuryan's concern.
"Thank you, for traveling such a distance to come and see us this beautiful day, young prince Kael, of the mountain region. Please, approach." The king's voice was warm, and strange sounding to Kuryan, as he too stepped forward, his blue-green eyes never leaving Kael's face. With a bow, he took his hand in his own, kissing his knuckles briefly.
When he leaned back up, his voice was soft, "It is a pleasure to be in the presence of such beauty. I am prince Kuryan."

Kael knew this song and dance. He had been here many times before and refused to be with each and every prince. Why didn't his parents understand that? That he wanted something more than just a Joining? More than just to be someone's queen? He smiled down at the prince, forcing it. "You honor me too much. I am prince Kael." He knew that the other's parents spoke those words just a few moments ago, but he preferred it coming from his own mouth.
Removing his hood, Kael smiled down at Kuryan before he stood back up, bowing to him. "The pleasure is mine as well. I will be.. staying here for a few days. It is a long journey to the mountains, after all. A few days and then I shall be gone." He looked to the king and queen and bowed again. "Thank you, again, for inviting me to your kingdom. It is as lovely as the bards sing about in their stories."

The way that this prince spoke was strange... As if he was already unimpressed, and that brought a frown to Kuryan's face. Spoiled, it seemed... But not the worst he could be, "Of course you would stay a couple days, dear prince," He said softly, shyly stepping back, "We're aware of how long you've been traveling, and we've seen many princes with your complexion, that need a few days in the palace, out of the sun, to give their skin a break before returning."
If prince Kael were going to be rude, he saw no reason to be nice, "Though I must say, I've met no prince so dissatisfied with me that he'd mention leaving so quickly. I haven't even had the pleasure of taking you on a walk, to see the wonderful sights of this palace." He hadn't even yet been to his own bed chambers, and already, he was insulting Kuryan.
The King grumbled, and the queen laughed, "Now, Kuryan... Surely the prince would like to see where he shall be sleeping. While your ati and myself oversee supper, take the guards, and have them lead the way."
The dark prince looked to the floor, then brushed past Kael, "This way, please."
The guards followed suit, their footsteps immediately behind the prince's as they wound their way through weaving halls. His room, and Kuryan's room were on opposite ends of a very long hall. He opened the door for the boy, but did not travel inside with him, "Please," Kuryan said quietly, "if there is anything that I can do to make your stay more comfortable, let me know, or send for a guard. When you are dressed, send one of the men outside your door for me, and I shall meet you to take you to our supper."
With a bow, he disappeared, taking one of the guards with himself.

Was he upset? Kael knew that his words were short and curt, but he didn't mean for them to come out selfish. He was about to say something when Kuryan stopped and spoke, showing him your room. Again, his mouth opened and violet eyes stared at him as he retreated quickly. Clutching his scarf around him, he quickly left into the room. He had to make this quick.. Quick, before dinner, so he could apologize.
It had been a few days and he was beginning to feel homesick. He shouldn't have been rude.. He changed out of his sand covered clothes and into something more fitting. Something loose, yet good for such weather. A middrift jacket, bracelets adorning his pale wrists. A white sheer cloth wrapped around his shoulders and his arms finished his decorations. Cloth hung from his waist and touched the floor, making a small trail of the dark blue cloth appear behind him.Fixing his hair, Kael sighed and walked out of the room, addressing the guard that he was ready and wished to speak with the other. Maybe then, things could get settled..
He didn't want their first day to be ruined.

Kuryan only changed into a darker, thicker robe; the tie and hems a blue-green like his eyes. He awaited the guard and prince by the entrance to the dining hall, sighing as he saw them approach. Why was he dressed like that..? So much skin showing.. He was a little nauseous just looking at him, his gaze falling to the floor as his cheeks turned bright red. It must be hot for him, but the choice of thinner linen would have been a better one, instead of less. Even if he was lovely.
He didn't look up when they met, either. This wasn't going to work, and he already knew it, "...I do not think the way you are dressed is appropriate."

He... didn't approve? Kael looked down at himself, and wrapped the cloth around him, holding himself. "I... apologize. I am not used to being out in the desert.. I was not sure what to bring, and neither did any of my servants. I merely... assumed."
He bit his lower lip, feeling a little ashamed now. He quickly bowed his head a little bit. "For..give me.. I shall change right away, if this is not appropriate. I did not wish to.. offend in anyway, if I have."

Kuryan frowned, biting his lip. That tone to his voice, and the crushed look on his face... He truly had not meant to, and the dark prince could tell. He felt guilty, now, thinking what he had about the pale boy. Certainly he should have been more versed in their culture, but it had been a long trip, and... With a glance into the hall, he motioned for them to go back to his room. He was taller than Kael, but probably...smaller around, but one of his robes. They would be a little bit late for dinner, and he was sure his parents would notice the prince in his robes, but he couldn't let him embarrass himself by going in there half naked.
When they finally reached his room, he paused, and held up a hand, "I will have the dresser weave you two outfits for your days here. For now.. Please, wait here. Guards, please, take down his measurements. One moment," Kuryan backed away from Kael and the guards, disappearing into his bed chamber. There within, he pulled out a thin, dark linen, knowing the pale Bearer surely wasn't used to the heat and gave it a look over before handing it to the boy, "Throw this over what you are wearing."
Kuryan waited for him to do as he was told, then offered him his arm shyly, "I shall... Escort you back properly. You," He pointed to one of the men, "Go tell the dresser his measurements. See to it his clothes are done by the morning."
"Right away, sir."

How embarrassing. Curing to himself softly, Kael merely sighed and looked away, a red tint on his cheeks. How could this have happened? He let the guards to as they were told and watched as Kuryan left. When he returned with the cloth, a smile came to his face and he took it from Kuryan with hesitation, wrapping it around himself. "Thank you.." His voice was soft. As he hooked his arm with the others, he smiled up at him and nodded. "Once again... I apologize."
He walked with the other down the path that they had come up only a few moments ago. "Thank you for lending me this.. I promise to return it as soon as dinner is over and I can change back into clothes from my kingdom.." As they walked down the stairs, Kael only smiled up at him, shyly, before they were on the first floor, wlaking through halls and corridors until they came to the dinning hall. A grand room indeed, with food from around the kingdom decorativly scatted across the long table. The king and queen were on each end of the table and Kael began to feel nervousness flood through him. He stopped midstep, for only a second, taking a breath and trying to calm himself.
"Apologies for the wait, Your Grace."

Even Kuryan was nervous, with the looks his parents shot them, but he only glared back, pulling Kael along and not apologizing himself as he led the prince to his seat, "You are a guest," he said in his airy voice, "supper starts when you are ready."
He pulled back the chair for him, and waited for him to take his seat before moving into his own next to him. As the king and queen barraged Kael with questions, their plates were made by the servants, and blue-green eyes stayed averted downward. He was sure his cheeks were still red, the image of Kael's body still in his mind. It was impure to have such thoughts, but he could not help himself, "Please.." He looked to his ati and matem, "is there any chance...we might eat as we speak?"
His stomach had been in pain for some time now, and just looking at all the food before him made the ache burn in the pit of his belly. It also made him sick to look at, but it might be enough to keep his mind off of that pale skin... The glare sent at Kuryan from his matem made him shiver, his gaze falling to his lap immediately, "I was merely suggesting...that our guest might be a bit peckish after his travels."

This was... becoming a little too much. Sure, Kael was used to questions, but they just kept coming.. and coming.. And they were beginning to make him feel a little uncomfortable. With a glance at Kuryan as he spoke, he gave him a soft smile, thankful for his interruptions. However, the way that he seemed to shrink made him worried and he looked to the queen, and then back to him, placing a hand lightly on his arm, worried for a moment.
Was it that look?
"I-It has been quiet a travel from the mountains. Please, I shall be here for two more days. I am sure we do not need to be so quick to fully introduce ourselves to each other.." He did want to eat.. And he noticed that Kuryan himself was even beginning to be uncomfortable. With the okay, Kael gave one last worried look to the other prince before he began to eat. "The food is... delicious. It is much different than from my kingdom. It has a richer taste here." He wanted to get off the topic of him..

Kuryan watched him take his first bite, and then grabbed his own utensils. With a glance to his family, as they too were eating, and speaking quietly to each other, he took a bite of the meat. He held it on his tongue for a long moment, closing his eyes, and sucking on it to make it last. the last time he ate with another prince, they laughed at how he ate... Would prince Kael?
Finally, he began to chew, swallowing only once there was nothing left to chew. With a smile to the prince, Kuryan dabbed his mouth with the cloth by his plate, "I am...glad you appreciate it. The kitchen staff has been with us for years, and prepare only the best for our guests." He had to look to his parents once more, before taking another taste of the meat. It was the most filling on his plate.. He liked to eat it first, to make sure he was a little more full..
"When dinner is finished, prince Kael, would you like me to have the guards... Put up some drapes over your windows? It gets quite hot very early... I would hate for the sun to make you uncomfortable."

Kael smiled at him, watching his movements. To be honest, it seemed that he was more careful with food. That he wanted it to last. Kael, too, savored his food. He was slow with his movements, wanting to make sure to remember each flavor of the food. He covered his hand as he finished chewing, as he was taught. He never wanted others to see if his lips would open as he chewed his food.
"Ah... Y-Yes," he said, smiling towards Kuryan once he swallowed. "I would.. appreciate that very much. The sun is not as strong in the mountains. You will have to forgive me if I.. am a little hesitant to spend too long outside. The heat is rather odd to me." He smiled a little, clearing his throat. "Thank you, prince Kuryan."
It wasn't long before he finished his plate, enjoying each and every bite of it. "My compliments to your cooks. Your certainly have gotten a fine set of people.." Looking to Kuryan, he wanted to know more about him. He was different than the other princes.. Kinder. "Do you.. have a favorite dessert, my prince?"

"I will have them put curtains up for you before you lie down tonight, then. While we are picking up your robes, perhaps.." He smiled gently, not looking over until there was a mention of dessert. He pursed his lips, giving thought to what he might say. This prince wasn't at all what he'd expected..
By now, he and any other would be making plans for departure. Kuryan was impressed, at least, "..Blueberries." The prince knew it wasn't really dessert, and the shame was obvious on his face, if only for a second, "Of course... that's because I'm not really allowed any sorts of sweets, aside the occasional fruit." He shouldn't have said that should he? He didn't like these questions. He sounded like a fool...
"You are a nice change from the other princes," Kuryan changed the subject, cutting another bite of meat, "even if you did not bring the proper attire. Did your parents not teach you the culture of my kingdom?"

Blueberries? A small laugh came for Kael and he covered his mouth again. He was about to speak about blueberries before the other continued to talk. Again, he felt embarrassment, his cheeks tinting into a bright red. He looked down at his lap, hands balling into fists. How could he have done that to himself..? That wasn't what he wanted. "They.. They might have mentioned something, but I believe I was rather furious with them when they tried to tell me. Unfortunately, when my temper flares, I am not the most.. cooperative of princes."
With a sigh, he pulled some hair behind his ear. "Once again.. I sincerely apologize.. It does not get as hot as it does here, and I had.. only assumed.." His eyes darted around before finding an interesting spot on his plate, his voice trailing off.
