Right now I have a FB page to advertise what I make.
Most of my sales come from when I do craft shows, which isn't often. The past 2 years i've only done about 1-4 a year. So i'm just beginning and just don't have that much of an opportunity to where I live.
I've also made a website that is free on Weebly. I can make $20 a month for my own domain which is kinda a lot. Specially since I don't make sales that often. Aside from when I do a craft show. I've made a few online though.
I've tried Etsy, but it didn't work out for me.
I've been thinking though about making my own website so I can just be at a .com instead of having weebly all up in my name.
Does anyone sell on their own website?
I was looking at this one place called Godaddy and was wondering if anyone has used it?
Or what do you do to sell what you make?
I'm looking for some ways to boost sales so I can find homes for the things I create.
I'm also in a few groups on FB to advertise, but it's hard since the group is specifically for showing what you make, that i'm not sure how many people are there to buy.

Blood Fairy Goddess i do have a website and an ex bf made it for me called www.mystichorizons.webs.com though im trying to remodle it lol its not goin as planned but i also sell my scarves, purses, hats, etc at my mothers shop downtown. im 23 and workin on gettin my own shop. business is abit slow tho cuz ppl complain that my 15 dollar scarves cand be found cheaper at walmart. only difference is i make my own yarn from sheep and alpaca wool with my spinning wheel. i too have tried etsy and it got me no where. the best to do is go to www.vistaprint.com and make business cards. it makes you look more professional and more ppl will contact you Weebly has a nice set with different tools to use to make it all nice. Like different page themes, picture boxes and selling tools. I may just keep with that as I think I read for like $40 a year I can have my own website. I've looked into vista and have thought about it. I still have some old cards I'd like to use up though before I buy more. And handmade scarves are totally better then anything at Walmart! Specially if you make your own yarn! That's awesome!

The site I used was PrintFirm.com, actually -- better pricing than Vista, more options, and so on. I actually looked at a bunch of different printing sites and the best thing to do is realize that all those commercials you see for VistaPrint are paid for, ultimately, by the customers -- and keep looking for better deals. In fact, don't even take that PrintFirm link for granted; my cards are actually 2"x2" squares instead of the standard business card size, and only a few sites offered that, so my options were limited to begin with. You might find that another site entirely gives you the best deal. wink

Just wanted to see what other people have done with getting their own site up and running and so on..

My sister used to have a domain, that was years ago.
But from my perspective, it seems like the hardest part of marketing your product online, no matter what it is, is simply marketing it online -- attracting customers. That's the appeal of sites like Etsy; there's an element of built-in browsing from people who are just exploring shops on the site. You literally just don't have that opportunity on your own domain, and therefore you'll have a LOT more work cut out for you in terms of advertising your site and networking.
If you want to sell merchandise on your site, check your weebly terms of service, too -- chances are, you'll need to put down that extra hosting fee in the first place. Just reserving a domain name is one thing, and pretty cheap -- a couple bucks a year. But just the name doesn't give you the webspace to upload your page to, or the bandwidth to allow traffic to your site. That's an additional cost, and depending on the exact specs, $30-$40 a year is probably a fairly decent price. The appeal of, say, GoDaddy is that it offers packages that combine the domain and hosting.
And to sell merchandise, by the way, you can't just have people email you their credit card numbers -- that's another service you'll be needing to subscribe to. There are plenty of providers, some better than others. One thing to note at this point, though -- to compare with sites like Etsy again, it brings up the problem of customer trust. A lot of people don't like entering their credit card info on sites they don't know (although let's face it, even giving a merchant like Target your info doesn't mean it's safe). So... well, you might want to give it some more thought. In general, it's not worth the hassle and expense anymore to set up a vending site on your own domain anymore. The only exception, honestly, would be if you're selling merchandise that the vending sites don't allow -- in which case, it might not even be legal to sell, or ship in the mail, or whatever. xd
