In my opinion if it REALLY pained you that they were calling you the wrong name you should start with saying you're a transgender. If they don't hire you due to this fact then chances are the boss is terrible so it would save you the trouble and pain anyways.
I don't think you're mom's really ashamed of you but just worried since you found a job and quit pretty shortly.
