There are a lot of avenues to begin to explore in terms of fulfilling the name and purpose of the Go Gaia Alliance. We don't necessarily want to find the people who are pissed off and angry at Gaia admins all the time. Really, more or less, it'll be about getting as many established Gaians as possible from all over the site to become aware of what we're looking to achieve.

The best way to network is to think counter intuitively. For example, it's most likely always the people you least expect to be able to help that end up helping the most. Why? Because it's going to cut our chain of connection in half when we're pitching the idea to the majority. So to stop with the college liberal philosophical bulls**t, basically what I'm saying is this:

Instead of going after the regulars of the GCD and SF, let's look towards members of the GD, the Writers Forum, and certain posters in forums people don't know two jacks about.

After we establish a loose network, I can go through and analyze that and begin to assign 'connections' throughout. The only thing left to do from that point is to connect the connections to a centralized point OR decidedly go for a decentralized system where a process called lateral diffusion (or rumors, chatter, etc.) can occur very quickly.

Then it's just our job to find the trusted connections and sooner than later, we'll have a working 'underground' network for the entire Gaian ecosystem. It wouldn't work for spreading idealism... but when incidents occurred (good or bad), it would begin to hit every Gaian.

Just a thought.

Should we also include artists and coders?
This idea has potential, I suspect.

Of course. It's all about making contacts with people that no one quite expects. And even if they have the foresight or knowledge to understand the pieces... they won't be able to understand the rapid lateral communicating.

I used to be an OOC clan leader on Gaia so I've always been very aware of how communicative dynamics occur. However, the largest scale network I've ever had this model work in was about 15 clans, all located within the same forum. To rapidly transverse multiple forums will take a little more tact and I'm very open for any suggestions. biggrin

Anyone you suspect would be up for lending a hand, then?

I'm not sure yet. I've been trying to contact a lot of friends from the past but I haven't got much positive response. There's a lot of people who have decidedly quit Gaia forever so it's tough to find.

I'm feeling as if I'm probably going to end up training people and using what little we have. We really don't have the same communicative masterminds we had just 6 months ago.

Nope. Would anyone be willing to take me up on a meeting? Like via Skype, xfire or whatever works. It would take a lot longer on Gaia. If you could get 2 or 3 people who you're working with there, I can try my hardest to convince some of my former peers to come back to that discussion. If nothing else, it can get us all headed in the right direction and then I can help coordinate further after that.

Also, you seem familiar but I can't remember where I've seen you haha.

There's tumblr, but I am not sure if it has IMs, yet.

Is there an off-chance we either met in Revolution: Gaia or we met a few years before we lost instant messaging for good, by chance?

It must've been both. But Revolution: Gaia for sure. I was there for a little bit.

Do you have any other IM service?

I'm okay with talking on google+ too. I don't really mind. i just find that when people make the jump to talking from anonymous to RL like Google+ or Facebook, it tends to tame things that at one point were untamed. Slows things down too. Idk why. I bet there will be a study on it in 20 or 30 years.

If we can pull off this communications network, what could happen?
