On the other side of the south wall lies the entrance to the forest.

The path there is certainly pleasant. Oaks and pines and many other trees you can't name line the path, getting thicker as you go into the actual forest itself. Birds chirp, squirrels scamper and the occasional fox runs by. You've probably heard of some of the stories of the past, though - on rare occasions, students don't come back from exploration. Most likely they fell into one of the several dimensional rips scattered throughout the trees. Some of them lead to a black void of nothingness, some lead to an alternate, dead world, identical to our own, and some of them simply lead to little pocket dimensions where one often has to solve puzzles and overcome challenges if they hope to escape.

But you aren't worried. You're confident that you'll easily take on any challenge that comes your way. Anyway, you're protected from the worst as long as you're in Carrmin's sphere of influence.

You emerge out of the path and into the first landmark site of Nimue's Forest - a clearing simply known as the Field. The Field is pretty big; it's good for a game of soccer, maybe. The Field's grass is long, growing about two feet high, and it sways pretty well in the breeze. You may know from rumors that there's actually a good weak spot somewhere in the Field, but the chances of you hitting it just right are one in a million.

Further ahead is Carrmin's house; you can see the huge oak tree that he's turned into his home stretching over the treetops. Far off in the distance, well beyond Carrmin's sphere of influence, you can just barely see the purplish-black top of Merlin's Tower. If you're lucky, maybe you'll see a red dragon circling it. (Hopefully it won't see you.)

Maybe you'll stay in the field a while. It's a nice place for a lot of things; playing sports, holding plays, final showdowns between good and evil...

Not that a thing like that could ever happen at the Academy of Merlin!

...Right?

Welcome to the Field!

Note: Students are forbidden to explore the forest alone.

Naomi paced the entrance, agitated. Running both messages together, along with her own knowledge, had led her to one conclusion and she didn't like it. It was risky, it was dangerous, and a thousand different things could go wrong.

But there was no other option, and the Headmaster knew it. Carrmin certainly couldn't take them on alone. The Headmaster himself wasn't around. And the professors were under the watchful eye of the Council agents, which were popping up around campus with alarming speed. The campus was already becoming controlled, and Naomi didn't trust the magick government as far as she could throw them. They wanted the Oak, she was sure of it, and they had just been waiting for an excuse to remove the Headmaster and install their own people.

But Unit Thirteen was above the Headmaster on the priority list. And Unit Thirteen, Naomi knew, was stationed somewhere deeper in the Forest surrounded by a barrier... until recently. She didn't know why the barrier had disappeared, since it was undoubtedly set up by that Florafel woman, so Naomi could only assume she had removed it of her own will (unlikely), she had run out of power to keep it up (unlikely), or she had died (likely). This was an opportunity that wasn't going to come again.

The solution was simple. It was so simple. But it wasn't going to be easy to pull off. And Naomi couldn't do it alone; nobody in the school could. It was going to have to be a team effort, whether they liked it or not.

                          So she waited.

⊰aerykah - sampson⊱
Taking the time to carefully read both messages on the Headmaster's announcement, and Naomi's aptly put message, the outlook was grim. It was time for the students to rise to action. Biting her lip, she grabbed her medical supplies from her newly rebuilt dorms, and proceeded to the forest entrance.

It felt like a longer walk that it probably was, Aery was running strategies through her head. If they were to take on Unit 13, she was not allowed to let James get her down. That could spell disaster for everyone. It was finally ******** time to get over him. Grow up for the first time. <******** finally.

Noticing Nao, Aery ran to meet her. "You ready to stir up some s**t?" she greeted, half chuckling. "I know we've been through some really nasty stuff this year... But we need to be on our best alliance for this. Can we call a truce?"

Wow, Aerykah. You waste no ******** time do you?

Right in the middle of her workout routine, too.

As she approached the forest, Ari checked her pockets for the essentials. Her favorite channeler (and method of stabbing people) was in her right pocket, along with a mirror and other things. At the sight of Aerykah and Naomi she had to take a deep breath, mentally preparing herself.

It was about time s**t got settled, and hell if she wasn't going to be around to see it get done. There was a certain sort of responsibility with being the only goddamn fourth year around.

"Yo," Ari offered as greeting, not bothering to say anything else. It wasn't her job to start the conversation. She was just here to make sure nobody ******** died.

God, she was ready to graduate.

Never a dull day around Merlin, she mused somewhat grimly to herself. Naomi seemed very adamant- I don't know what she meant by the whole keen eye thing. Another spell I don't know, probably.
Yvonne saw the gathering of older students in the field. Wading through the ocean of grass, she waved to them. Was that her house rep? It had been a while since she'd last seen her. Hopefully she'd get to talk to her this time!
She twirled her wand nervously in her hands as she approached them. She didn't know how useful she'd be, but Naomi had sounded like she needed numbers.
"Hi! I'm not late, am I?"

Muna had simply skimmed over Naomi's letter, tugging his marble over his neck and just following after his head of house. He was -- beyond worried, really, about lots of things. Not to mention that he, Shanta and End had already meddled enough in the Blood Pact business for it to be kind of weird not to show up.

Following behind his head of house with his index and thumb rubbing over his marble absentmindedly, Muna joined the group of older students -- and Yvonne -- where they were standing. While he didn't feel particularly grim, (Muna wasn't big on feeling emotions extremely in the first place,) there was a certain pit of nervousness his stomach.

Clearing his throat a little and getting his tongue ready to speak, Muna glanced around at the students standing around. "Hi."

The way his tongue formed the words was awkward, and stiff to him. Not having End and Shanta around didn't help that. He hoped they would show up soon.

Shanta had a really bad feeling. This smelled like a trap. But Muna was undoubtedly going to go, and she wasn't going to let him go alone. So she yelled at End that she was going ahead and off she flew, Shashi following a few yards behind her in the event that they became handy.

It wasn't exactly hard to piece together what Naomi was thinking. Shanta had been suspecting that this was going to happen once the Headmaster's message was put out. But Naomi had to be a complete idiot and rally the students on a public bulletin board. Well, it wasn't like the Council would be able to follow them into Nimue's Forest anyway. Carrmin didn't trust them any more than the rest of the school did, and for good reason. The Council was rough as hell on nonhumans.

Besides, if Shanta and Muna and End were there, maybe they could figure out how to deal with Vivian before Naomi took a more... unpleasant approach.

Shanta came up on the entrance and did a quick headcount; there were the three house reps, there was Yvonne, looking a tad lost, and... there was Muna! He beat her. Shanta fluttered up to her best friend and snapped her fingers. Shashi came flying up behind her and she lowered herself onto the carpet, letting her legs swing underneath. "You beat me."

__ Following behind after Yvonne with exhaustion clearly written over his face that he even had to bother with stupid stuff like this was Icarus. He scanned the group of people already standing around, noting that all the heads of houses were already there. He felt a tad awkward with Ariadne around, but she didn't seem to acknowledge him so he was fine with doing the same.

God, he didn't want to be here. There was no way in hell he was trusting anyone else with watching over his friends. He slowed down as he reached Yvonne, tilting his head as a form of greeting because he really didn't know what else to do.

"Seeing as there's only six people present, I doubt it." Icarus commented. "Hi, I guess."

He really hoped none of his other friends would appear. Then he would have more of a reason to get invested in what was going on. He hadn't even read Naomi's note properly. All Icarus was planning on doing was hanging back and making sure Yvonne -- and whoever else that he cared about who appeared -- was safe.

Wherever Muna and Shanta went, End was sure to follow. Except, at the moment, he was several yards behind the other two. Shanta had taken off ahead of him, Shashi not far behind her, leaving End slowly jogging in the direction of the meeting point. He really didn't like being left behind. He was worried he'd miss something very important.

But regardless, he made it. It seemed like he was early. At least, it looked that way by the number of people who had gathered. He wasn't quite sure of what Naomi's plan was but he didn't think that 8 teenagers like themselves could do much against the Blood Pact, no matter how good a plan was put together.

End wandered up to Muna and Shanta, making the group a trio once more, like it usually was. "Hello..." he said in his always quiet voice, giving a small smile in greeting. But the smile quickly faded.

"Do we know what's happening yet...?" he questioned, in an even lower tone. "Do we know what we're doing...? How can I help...?"

As End and Shanta appeared, Muna visibly relaxed. He shuffled cloesr to the other two, mostly intending to stick with them in case something dangerous happened. If anyone deserved to talk to Vivian the most, it was them, in his opinion.

" 'M Too fast." Muna replied to Shanta, a vaguely smug smile growing on his face. It would take him a while before he could speak in anything longer than short phrases. It usually did.

At the sight of the smile End gave them, Muna visibly perked up. Then he immediately sobered up, remembering just exactly what they were about to get into. "Hi," He offered as form of greeting, glancing around at the other students standing around. "...Dunno."

He really hoped nobody was going to get killed. They always seemed to go into situations where there was potential to get freaking killed. Absentmindedly, Muna wondered if they were going to run into any of the Blood Pact members along the way. With so many students running around he had a feeling they would.

Still, what repercussions was Lara facing for letting the barrier drop? Muna had a feeling Unit Thirteen's boss wouldn't be too happy with her. He desperately hoped that they wouldn't run into Ezrael, now that his ability to eat taint had been lost with the curse.

It was going to be a long night.

Yvonne nodded back at Icarus and smiled sheepishly. "Thanks for coming along. I know it's been a long week."

Their crowd seemed to be slowly gathering. There was Shanta and her friends. The house reps too. She wondered if anyone else would show up. If Lara and Vivian were any indication of how strong the Blood Pact could be, she was worried. Their duel had been vicious.

Idly tapping her wand on the tips of her fingers, she wondered how everyone would fit into this plan. Well, if there was one. Yvonne really hoped there was one.

"How's the egg doing, by the way? I forgot to check up on it this morning," she asked, focusing on Icarus again.

Naomi honestly came up with terrible ideas.

This is a bad idea, Ian told himself as he walked through the gate towards the forest, trying to get used to the world with contacts. This is a really bad idea. But he was almost certain that Yvonne was going to try to get in on this mess. Which meant Icarus was going to follow so she wouldn't get hurt. Which almost guaranteed that Gil and Scar would end up in the same place, because they attracted each other like magnets. What a mess.

On top of that, if Ian was reading correctly, this was going to help that damn Council, which was the last thing Ian ever wanted to do after they had royally screwed him over for nearly ten months. But on the other hand... well, Ian didn't want the Council in the school (and near him) any more than Naomi did. Perhaps moreso. He was sure this wasn't the sect that had hexed him, but at the same time he was incredibly wary of how the Council treated nonhumans, especially halfbreeds. There was a reason Ian wore piercings.

Coming up on the clearing with the knee-high grass, Ian spotted Icarus and Yvonne almost immediately, but he took his time to glance around the rest of the clearing. It looked like all the house representatives were here (including the elusive Aerykah, considering Naomi's description of a "flashy bang-streaking b***h"). End, Muna and Shanta were here, predictably. He didn't see Cas or Nina (or Averill) but he assumed it would only be a matter of time before they appeared as well.

Ian walked up to Yvonne and Icarus just as Yvonne asked about the phoenix egg they'd managed to pilfer from the Red Dragon's lair. Holy s**t if that thing was somehow not fine after all the damn effort they went through to get the thing, Ian was gonna blow a gasket. Instead of mentioning this, he hopped into the conversation calmly. "Icky hasn't mishandled an animal yet. Don't worry too much, Yv."

Yvonne turned at the sound of Ian's voice. No glasses still, she noted as her cheeks warmed. Dang.

"Heh. yep. Team mom at work. How could I ever doubt?" she laughed a little awkwardly, welcoming him into the conversation. She pondered on if he remembered any of their conversation the other night.

"What do you guys suppose these crazies are up to this time? The blood pact crazies, I mean, not us," she said, half joking and half serious.

Thinking for a moment, she added, "Why'd you guys come, anyway? Not that I don't appreciate the company - I'm glad you're here. It's just pretty obvious that you don't want to be."

Averill shuffled across the field towards the group of people, half of whom he might have known once, and half of whom he hardly knew at all. Naomis' message, along with the headmasters, had been compelling to say the least.
Maybe the others know more details about all of this mess
It was probably the right thing to do, to be here- Naomi wasn't an idiot, and neither was the ex-headmaster. They had to have some sort of logical reason.

He stopped on the edge of the collection of people and waved, smiling nervously.
How long has it been since I socially interacted like this? He wondered to himself.
"Hey, Naomi, Ian," He greeted his housemates, then glanced around at some of the others, who looked varying amounts of foreign to him "and, uh, hi, everyone else!"
He took a step towards Naomi, not really listening to whatever everyone else was chatting about.
"What do you think this hidden cottage is going to have in it?" He asked, bluntly. It wouldn't do to be under-prepared.

Casimir whistled quietly as she (it was she today) strode across the grassy field with her hands in her coat pockets, translator charm dangling on a string of cord around her neck. almost in an inappropriately casual manner given the situation to anyone who glanced by. However, in her mind she was fretting, in slight denial of current events. Not that Cas would admit it by Pritchett was right. They all had a duty to investigate the cottage and the blood pact.

She had taken care to prepare for the worst before in case things went downhill, and lets face it. It would. Very fast. Cas had spent hours before revising over her spells, practicing her offensive and defensive spells until she could quite literally summon with a snap, be it bow, blade, shield, or even firearm. And if one could listen closely (or had elven blood at least) they could hear the soft clinking of several vials in her pockets, no doubt filled with a manner of helpful liquids.

Arriving at the crowd, she exhaled, steeling herself in the rather tense atmosphere. Slotting in between Aerykah and Ari. "Hi." She said rocking on the balls of her feet rather nonchalantly to the house captains, mind already wondering off to Gage and Din whom she'd left earlier without.
