Hello! Ohana here smile
It''s been a little quiet in the Guild lately, and I wonder how everyone's doing so far in the new year. We have 2 weeks down, with just 50 to go. Is it off to a great start? Typically with the new year, a lot of people have plans with how they want this year to go. For example, the plans I had this year was to learn to swim, pay off my outstanding college tuition balance, buy a car, and get ukulele lessons. However, in our planning sessions, are we consulting God? Are we asking Him for what we should be doing? In what we plan, is it for our own personal gain or are we doing everything for God's glory in 2014? After all, the Bible does say:
" Now listen to me, you that say, 'Today or tomorrow we will travel to a certain city, where we will stay a year and go into business and make a lot of money.' You don't even now what your life tomorrow will be! You are like a puff of smoke, which appears for a moment and then disappears. What you should say is this: 'If the Lord is willing, we will live and do this or that.' " James 4:13-15 GNT "
And also "Well, whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for God's glory 1 Corinthians 10:31 GNT
Please feel free to post below what you feel God is calling you to do in this year, or questions on how to find that out.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Ohana

Well we're always called to make disciples, so that's one thing we should always be doing no matter what..but this year, I believe God is calling me to become more like Him and to learn who He really is and grow in my relationship with Him. He's already been doing miraculous things in my life, like showing me who I really am and how to use that to be a light to the world, and my life is full of blessings now that weren't present a few months ago.

That's wonderful! Another reason I posted this thread, is because when I was thinking about what gift to get my brother this year, I decided to crochet a blanket for him because he kept bugging me to "yarn" him things. When I finally decided on a type of yarn and the stitching, around that time I was also thinking of volunteering at a local homeless shelter that my Dad deals with on a daily basis. It was then that I felt a tug on my heart to make hats for the homeless. When I was perusing their website, I felt sad at the vast need that was presented. In December, I was able to deliver 15 hats for children. I know that it's not going to be enough to cover all of the homeless children, but 15 children don't have to be as cold in the frigid winters we have in my country. I'll be working on some more as our winters last long. I hope to make more next year, too. I share that, because it's funny how God works. I was thinking of donating my time, money, or goods, when God wanted me to do something else. I was mainly thinking about my brother and his Christmas gift, but the Lord wanted me to think of other people as well.

I feel this year, I am being called to serve a lot more. I am still trying to recover mentally from something pretty bad but even so, I've still continued to receive training from my church and throughout last year, I've had a lot of trouble being around people but I was given more responsibilities within my church and now I am taking care of new comers which would have been really hard for me to do but even today, I was making friends with the newcomers in my church and it didn't feel hard at all to do. I also feel that even among that problem of mine, God is calling me to do more evangelism and as much as I am nervous about it, I am also feeling excited to do it. I know God has a plan for me so this year, I want to deepen my relationship with Him and continue seeking Him so that I may be able to help others to meet Him. I hadn't really been able to in the last few years but this year, my desire to do it is a lot stronger so that is why I want this to be my calling for this year biggrin

Daeuil I feel this year, I am being called to serve a lot more. I hadn't really been able to in the last few years but this year, my desire to do it is a lot stronger so that is why I want this to be my calling for this year biggrin That is so great!! Not gonna lie, evangelism in the way of literally going out and doing it the "Living Waters" way isn't something I do, but I try to live day by day as Evangelism and when God pops up, I do try to lay down truths. There's an interesting quote I heard on a Christian radio station which said to the effect of "There are 5 gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and You and most people won't read the first four". I find that to be so true. It's also good to see that God is working on you in your life. God's healing power is a testimony that can be used in your evangelism efforts. So many people believe that God is a fairy tale, when He is very real and working in all of our lives! We'll be sure to pray for God to strengthen your heart and protect you against Satan's fiery darts.
