Eliaus plopped down in the chair and let out a relieved sigh. "Finally... A moment to relax..." She mumbled to herself as she whipped her forehead. "It's snowing outside, and I am sweating..." She closed her eyes for just a moment, but caught herself dozing off and quickly shot up out of the seat and to her feet. She was the only physically fit one to show up to volunteer at the home that day, and as such she had been doing all the heavy lifting. "Did we always need so many supplies?" She asked herself, once again out loud, as she looked over the many boxes she had brought in, watching as elderly volunteers opened the boxes and began to withdraw the food from inside. She had done a job two men usually did, in about the same time.

"You did a very good job young lady, I don't know what we would have done without you. Although, you know that the heavy lifting is for the men." One of the volunteer ladies said, patting her on the back as she ppassed by with a buggie of stuff. Eliaus just laughed and gave her a sleepy smile. Aside from the occasional youth organizations, Eliaus' was almost always the youngest volunteer the home had, and it had become a running joke that her generation had no chivalry, and the women were expected to do all the work since the men were too weak to anymore. Eliaus knew they all hated that she had to do so much work, and by herself, but, what choice did they have?

Eliaus sighed and pulled her dark blue button-up shirt back on over her black tank top. She was still really hot, but she buttoned it up to the last one and strode over to help finish the job and help cook lunch, but was turned away. "You've done more than enough for right now, go relax and socialize, whippersnapper." The woman she had just spoke to said, although it was clear the others agreed with her. "Alright, fine. I'll hang around for a while and let someone know when I leave. If you guys need anything, just holler." She said before going to the pile where she had set her jacket and slinging it over her shoulder before going out of the kitchen and into the cafeteria space.

She scanned the room before locating a rather familiar face. "Hey, how are you today?" She didn't know the girl's name, but she was certain it started with an A, although she had seen the woman many times. Slowly, a yawn forced it's way out of her, and her eyes shot to the kitchen door to make sure no one saw. Sometimes the ladies would get onto her, or even make her go home if they saw her yawn too much. So, even though she occasionally made very odd faces, she tried her best to suppress them. She reached down with her right hand and messed with her dream catcher, which was attached to one of the belt loops on the right hip of her blue jeans, simply out of habit.

Amelia could remember a time when she loved the snow. It enchanted her, a beautiful and pristine fairy tale come to life, but that belief faded when she'd started spending her nights outside. The loneliness was one thing, but the bone-chilling cold was another. Like now, she mused as she glanced out the window with a sigh. Seasonal jobs weren't available for a while now that the holidays were over. It was one disappointment after the other, but at least the cafeteria was warm.

Hmm? Oh!” Blinking, Amelia's eyes widened to owlish proportions as her thoughts and meal were interrupted by a familiar face. She couldn’t remember the other girl's name, but she'd been seen as a volunteer for a while, so she wasn't a complete stranger.

Hello there.” She nodded, her gaze falling on the dream catcher and remaining there for a moment before her hands tightened around her mug to keep it warm a little longer. “I'm okay. Glad to be out of the wind. How are you? You look like you've been busy.

Eliaus was a bit surprised at the woman's reaction. Her eyes got so wide, Eliaus was sure she had scared the woman but, thankfully, the woman seemed to relax after a moment and answered her question. "Yeah, this weather is pretty frigid..." Her voice trailed off for a moment while she yawned. "Excuse me," She, as always, apologized the first few times she yawned in a person's company, but eventually they would both get used to it, it would fade into the background, and she would stop. It was just a natural part of who she was. "Yeah, they were missing their two men, so I had to do double work and lots of heavy lifting. Was it worth it?" She asked, pointing at the woman's meal, a light, sleepy smile on her face.

She wasn't sure if she had imagined it or not, but she couldn't help but think the woman had taken a good loom at her dream catcher. At first, Eliaus thought it was rather odd, but then realized that she was probably the odd one for wearinga dream catcher as an aaccessory, but she didn't really mind that she looked odd. Well, any more than usual at least. "May I sit?" She asked politely, her finer on the chair that she hoped to gain clarence to sit in.

Amelia smiled and said nothing at the fact that Eliaus was the one who helped ensure she was able to have a meal. She didn't think the other woman meant it the way she felt it was said, so it was best to let words pass by until Amelia was more comfortable with her new guest.

Thank you. It's nice to know we can have a warm meal at the end of the day.” She nodded once again as Eliaus pointed to the seat ont eh other side of the table, not minding the company. Once the shelter filled up for the night, it would be far more crowded.

That's a pretty dream catcher you have. Was it a gift?

Eliaus thought over her words for a minute, something just didn't seem quite right with them for some reason. She nearly face palmed when she realized how rude she had probably come off as. She had to suppress a made rage if apologies. She drew in a deep breath, ready to say something, but simply froze for a moment, then face palmed. "I'm sorry, that was horrible diction on my part. I didn't been to come off as so rude..." She sighed, shook her head, laughed, then yawned again. "I apologize again- for both my horrible yawning and my horrible rudeness.... Man, I am such a loser." Again she laughed and shook her head, clearly both laughing at, and very disappointed with herself.

"Well, now that I have been rude to you, I suppose I should formally introduce myself. I'm Eliaus." She offered her hand out for a hand shake, a light, sleepy smile on her face and a gentle, kind light in her eyes. "I meant something more along the lines of, how does it taste? I never eat the food here so there is more for everyone else, and I've always wondered."

Her eyes shifted down to the dream catcher she wore, although it seemed her words didn't register for a short moment. "Oh! Yes! Well, kind of... It's a long story... I was- and still am- having issues sleeping, so an uh... Acquaintance, I suppose would be a good way to describe her, gave it to me. I admit, it has helped a good lot."

That's okay. We can just blame it on being tired and busy, right?” Amelia shook her head at the other woman's apology, offering a small smile of assurance as she spoke. She was surprised at the offered hand, but shook it anyway after a moment.

Nice to meet you, Eliaus. You can call me Amelia. And don't worry, the food's way better than what other places serve.” At least that much was safe to say, she mused as she looked down to the catcher again and raised her brows. An acquaintance gave her that? Was there really anyone involved at all, or was Eliaus downplaying who the person really was? Nothing that pretty could just be given away. It even had little beads and a sprig of holly in the middle.

Well, it's very pretty. Hopefully you can sleep better soon.” She paused for a moment, then added, “Is it okay to just wear it like that when you're moving stuff around? I meant, what if it falls off?

Elaius was very glad that the woman understood that she wasn't normally so... off. She had to admit, she was far more exhausted than she was used to. She gave a sleepy smile and a slight, thankful nod. She was relieved to see the woman shake her hand, as she had seemed weary at first. "That is a very pretty name... Amelia..."She said, seeming to think on it for a moment before returning her attention back to the woman. Her smile widened slightly at her comment about the food, but said nothing out of fear that she would sound like a choice word again.

Although, she recalled something that she thought, and hoped would help the woman. "Do you know that there is another home oh..." She snapped her fingers a couple of times, willing the thoughts to come to her. "Ugh... I can't think of the name, Saint something's... Anyway, it isn't that far from here, has recently begun to serve breakfast to?" She ended her statement with another yawn, excusing herself once more. Although she seemed a bit lost in thought, trying to think of the name.

Hearing the comment about the dream catcher, Eliaus snapped back into reality. "Oh! Yes! I am constantly checking on it to be honest with you. It worries me quite a bit, but I also worry I'll fall asleep while I'm doing something, so I figure it is a risk worth taking..."

Amelia nodded politely in thanks at the compliment, tucking her hand back into her lap so she could speak with Eliaus rather than eat while someone else was talking to her who didn't have food themselves. She shook her head at the mention of the shelter, unable to decipher which one the other woman was talking about. It was nice to know that someone cared enough to pass on the information.

For a moment, Amelia could only blink and try to make sure she understood what she was being told correctly, but she was certain there was a mix up somewhere. She shook her head. 'Why is it a risk worth taking? Aren't there ways for you to stay awake without bringing it out and possibly losing it?

Eliaus couldn’t help but smile slightly, glad she was finally able to say something without insulting her. She couldn’t help but notice how much she had been messing up that day. She was really out of it. The corners of her usual sleepy smile turned up a bit more at Amelia’s question, out of feeling awkward more than happiness or anything of that matter, and she scratched the back of her head, not quite certain how to answer the question. ”Well, I guess the best way to put it would be…” She muttered, then paused a moment before bluntly saying, ”One time I left it at home, and it actually stressed me out more. And, I didn’t sleep nearly as well that night.” She gave an innocent shrug, a tired light shining in her eyes. She had her own odd energy about her, which seemed to get a bit stronger as she noted signs of lack of sleep in Amelia. She couldn’t help but get the feeling that her chance to finally pay Ms.Spiderlegs was approaching. ”So, what do you dream about?” She asked, figuring it was an odd question, but could be taken a number of ways. Eliaus hoped it would reveal whether or not Amelia was a ‘dreamer’ like her. She was a bit torn, part of her wanted to be able to pay Ms.Spiderlegs back, but she also hated the idea of someone in Amelia's situation putting up with such a lack of sleep.

Amelia chuckled faintly and shook her head as Eliaus explained her previous experience. “I see. The...acquaintance...who gave it to you must have been one of a kind.” She sipped at her tea, watching Eliaus's reaction in case it evoked an unhappy moment. The dream catcher didn't work as she had hoped, it seemed, something that caught the brunette's attention, her thumbs tracing over the rim of her mug as she sat it down on the table, relishing in its remaining warmth.

Me?” Why did it matter what she dreamed? Blinking as the subject switched to herself, Amelia frowned a little and looked down at the wavering refection she saw in the remains of her drink. She certainly felt that way some mornings when she first woke up, all sloshing and disoriented.

Many things, I suppose, though lately it's been a little more focused.” She shrugged and looked back to her companion. “I imagine it will pass when my subconscious decides it has thoroughly driven the point home. Why do you ask?” It was an unusual question, one that would lead to an inspirational or encouraging speech if Amelia said much. That was something she didn't want. It was easier to let people assume.

Eliaus couldn't help but laugh a bit at he comment about her... 'acquaintance'. "Yes... She is definitely one of a kind." She noticed Amelia seem a little nervous and almost shooken up or upset at the question, which Eliaus thought was a bit odd, but just let it pass. She also noticed Amelia's choice if words. She seemed to be putting a bit of thought into her words, her diction pointed more to Amelia being a 'dreamer' or whatever they were called.

"I think you might have same... Thing I do. I could take you to my friend if you want me to. I bet she could help you. 'Cause if it's anything like what I have it-" She paused for a moment to yawn, which just happened at a good time for once. "It'll only get worse." She didn't want to seem pushy or anything, she just thought it was the right thing to do.

Amelia raised a brow at Eliuas's humor, not perturbed this time, but intrigued. The rueful laugh and emphasis was certainly an interesting reaction. Perhaps, the brunette mused, she wasn't quite as alone as she thought she was. The truth was that Amelia would love to get a night of solid sleep, but she was reluctant to follow a stranger to some “friend” or acquaintance’s home just to get help. Her thumbs pressed tighter around the mug as she recalled her dream, how disorienting it was to go from hating yourself so much for everything you had ever done wrong and more to suddenly being lifted up and seeing things clearly. To having hope.

Perhaps this was that hope in the waking world?

She would never be able to explain it otherwise, but Amelia nodded as the thought passed through her head, though the action was slow in coming. How could this get worse? Would the shadows of her past be more vivid along with the sensation that she was doing the right thing? It was hard to say, and she almost didn't want to know – almost.

“Alright. When shall we go?”

Eliaus was a bit surprised as the woman nodded, seeming to have sudden certainty almost. "Sure?" She asked st first, still a bit stunned, but shook her head a hit to clear it. "I mean, sure of course! Would you be comfortable if we took my car? We could walk if you'd rather. I'd kind of like to-" She paused a very brief moment to yawn, she seemed very excited at this new unexpected development. "-Pick up some food for my friend from this good Cafè I know, they are on the corner and have a drive through, so it will be very fast. And, now that I distracted you and your food is probably cold cold by now, I'd like to buy you some more lunch to. On the house of course." She said, standing but waiting for Amelia to say whether she would prefer to walk or take the car.

Apparently her answer was the correct one, because Eliaus was suddenly a rush of movement between yawns. She seemed so enthusiastic about introducing Amelia to this acquaintance to the point that it startled the quiet brunette. She opened her mouth to speak, then shut it again as the other woman offered to get her fresh food, as well. That was a bit much; she didn't know the woman, and while she was alright with a gift of charity once in a while, she was very uncomfortable with this sense of debt that it seemed to come from.

“Walking would be better,” she decided after a moment when Eliaus was yawning again. Her voice was quiet but firm; she had no intention of being driven anywhere by a complete stranger. She slowly stood up, wondering if there was a way to just take her food to go in a plastic bin or something similar. It was better than being indebted, as well. Not to mention that cold food was better than nothing.
