Hello!


This is around the time where some people choose to make resolutions and to actively lose weight, be better with their finances, or be more bold. But in the the Bible, we're told of the things we really are supposed to be focused on, and the following verses are what I feel, are good resolution verses to have:

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. " Philippians 3:14 ESV "

So, don't feel the need for constant self improvement for things concerning the flesh, or don't wallow in sadness at how good or bad 2013 went. Press towards Christ. Seek things of God. Don't worry about man's expectations, focus on God's and be blessed!

Last thing, keep in mind of the dangers of self reformation or doing things through your own power this year. Read this parable of Jesus in Matthew 12:43:

“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

In other words, you may be able to clean yourself up in 2014 by your own efforts, but they won't last. Only Christ can bring lasting change. By doing things on your own, things may look good for a while. But without Christ dwelling in you in 2014, you'll just make room for more trouble in your life.


So let's all keep in mind: press towards Christ. Flee man's expectations. Have Christ dwell in you.
