Hello, My name is kitty, I love going to school but i have one problem. I HATE going to the restroom. you see, my boyfriend is also transgender and they allow him to use the mens restroom because he looks extremely masculine. but I can't use the women's restroom because I am not feminine enough, it pisses me off, I have tried to do something about it and they did make it so i can use the staff restroom, which is great. But I want to make an overall change in the public school system which has become difficult for me. I also dont like going to school because i have severe anxiety, which i think is caused mostly from the restroom situation and the "Non- accepting" students, please let me know what you guys did about using restrooms when in school, thank you!

aww i'm sorry =(. i wish i could help but when i was in school i just hid everything other wise i'm sure i would have been bullied way worse then i was. but to be honest i'm envious of you and your boyfriends courage to stand up for what you believe in. don't stop. as for the restrooms ask them what you could do to possibly help them understand that this means alot to you. start a LBGTQ group at your school or if there already is one bring this to their attention they may be able to help. school is a rough place for many people of all kinds but all i can tell you is just be you. things do get better.

At my college they had disabled/gender neutral bathrooms so I used those before I started hormones. At uni people are much more accepting and they have trans-inclusive policies, so I just use the men's. If I didn't pass as much as I do now, I'd just use the gender-neutral ones they have, but they don't have them on every floor.
I remember I used to map out nearby cafés and places like that in my head when I frequently went somewhere (like Costa coffee bars, they always have neutral toilets) so if I felt unwelcome I could go to a nearby place. That being said, that depends if you're allowed to leave school premises or not, but if you are that could be a good thing to look into.

I recommend getting a petition going on at your school for full going LGBT equality. You can have supporters sign and give it to the school board. If they still won't allow you to go in the ladies room, try fighting to get a trans restroom. Proof to support that ideal is Brazil. They have transgender restrooms. I can even help you with a petition if you are willing to do so?
