I'm going to be opening a charity thread for people that have been hit hardest by Flynn and her gold generating lady parts.
I am looking for suggestions and ideas of ways to get users interested in both participating and maybe even joining the Alliance in the process.
Suggestion List so far: Item Giveaways Art Freebies Gold Giveaways Promotion of Other Charities
Thanks for your help guys. We can make Gaia better.

I have always liked flash space events. I had some ideas for a previous guild but I made them remove my ideas since they booted me from the crew for not being active enough (even though I had 3 events planned for december rolleyes ) I'm mostly active on Solia now but I haven't totally abandoned Gaia. Anyways I can post my notes up here and you can use them instead if you'd like. I especially thought a new years eve pajama party in the Rose Underground would be lovely. Before I did a trivia game with prizes and gave small prizes to people who dressed up to match the theme and things like that. I also had an idea for an alien invasion where people dressed as either the abductors or the abductees or like the santa cows and stuff. Also a kitty kaleidoscope where people dressed as various cat "I am" items or wore cat ears and costumes. I can put my notes up here if you'd like. A lot of people who are just hanging out in the flash spaces will see a bunch of people dressed up to match a theme and will join because it looks fun. And then that gets them interested in the guild.

Sure, you're allowed to post notes here if you wish.
Also...
As part of this charity thread, I'd like to find some way of letting people know the dangerous effects of Flynn items. Your suggestions on how to approach that would be more than welcome too. The reason I ask is due to reading about people who have bought Flynn items that have no idea of what damage is being done because of it, that have been in the dark about the upset users that have been affected by inflation, and to also educate on healthier gold making alternatives.

An arts contest can probably do that, Darius. Art, poems/haiku, etc., that sort of arts.
I suggest having a D*C lotto. I guess about 500 spots, tickets costing 10k, each and the 1st place winner will the most expensive D*C item and the 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive the 2nd and 3rd most expensive D*C items, at their choice. Also, to explain that the gold from the lotto will support the gold shop lotto's or a charity of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice (which ever the majority decide).

A gold shop item lotto would be a fantastic idea. Would need a mule for that. I might even donate half of the proceeds to a charity if I can afford it.

I'd suggest that there should be some kind of application process or grace period before anyone recieves an official donation. Definitely have contest open to all that enter but the donating portion of a charity should have a simple form to allow us to get to know what they are after and we will try to help them. Also could help stop/minimize the number of people that come in and say "Plz don8 k thx bai" you want to help but not lose all your funds too fast.

I ran a charity along with one of my best friends. She had it going for a year before I joined, and we kept it going another year before she started college.

Oh, good good. =o)> I helped with one a while back and when both of the original partners left, a friend and I opened a tribute charity in its place. But ultimately had to close after my co-owner of the charity left gaia and people stopped showing up cause she was the face of the charity where I was more the donating factor of the charity. In the end we were getting more beggers than dedicated questers and had to shut it down.

Ok, I've managed to sell some small items for a solid bit of seed gold of 1 mil.
I'm gonna make a mule account and get to work on a charity thread tomorrow.
