Whoever was in charge of designing these dorms sure went all out on the gold leaf.
The Lucian Dorms is possibly the richest-decorated dorms, with red walls and gold decorations everywhere you turn. You aren't sure if the dorms have always been like this or if it's just because of the councilman's son being in this house, but it certainly makes the common room seem more like a museum than anything else. You don't really feel comfortable here, but you hope the feeling will go away and take a look around.
For some reason, there are flowers on almost every available surface, including on top of the piano. The walls have several paintings hung on them, along with the painting of the house crest - a doubleheaded snake entwined around the staff. (If you look at it too long they'll hiss at you.) One wall is entirely taken up by a massive green landscape, looking very out of place in the very red room. The landscape is mostly painted with emeralds and golds, and it's of a setting sun. If you watch for a while, a dragon flies across the top every once in a while. Whoever painted this definitely knew what they were doing.
A piano is perched in one corner, and refuses to let anyone play it. Instead, it plays gentle music for the flowers to help their growth. It also plays an alarm consisting of a cacophonous key smashing if anyone tries to sneak out after curfew, so good luck if you try that. In the other corner, a cherrywood table is positioned with several chairs. The table has a few candles on it and a few books some of your housemates probably left there when they went to bed the night before.
Nearby, on the right, a door leads off to the kitchen, which isn't the best for cooking, but there's a lot of little individual snacks stuffed into the pantry. A grocery list is attached to the side of the fridge - if there's anything you want, just put it down and the school staff will replenish the supplies weekly.
Several armchairs and a couple couches surround the fireplace, which is usually flickering during the winter. A dartboard hangs on the wall nearby - the only thing on the walls that isn't a painting. It's pretty cozy, but it still doesn't feel very homey. Next to the fireplace is a large bookshelf that takes up most of the wall. The first few shelves do have some books of various genres and from various centuries, but the bottom couple are devoted to charging electronics with several power cords plugged into each other. A door next to the bookcase, opposite the fireplace, leads up to the dorm room.
Yes, dorm room. The Lucians don't have time for stupid gender roles, instead having one large dorm room to house all their students with a hammock at the end. In case of overflow, there's a cabinet by the hammock with sleeping bags. The walls in the dorms are lined with bunk beds, and in between those are dressers for students to put clothes and belongings.
There are only a few things you shouldn't expect in the Lucian Dorms. First, don't expect everyone here to be close, because Lucians are loners by their nature. And second, don't expect to get any hot water, because there are only three showers and two toilets in the entire building.
Welcome to the Lucian Commons and Dorms!
