So I have been moseying around the battlefield that has become "SITE FEEDBACK" for a few months... formulating what is going to happen, envisioning what is going on and what is to come...
and Like all good ideas it found me... Idk where it came from but like a stroke of genius it came, and I saw a solution to the mess of flash sales. But OMG it would mean Gaia would have to do something constructive for once... But if employed it can really help to build the user trust back.
So here is my proposal... Instead of doing a daily, random unexpected release of flash items, Every week there can be a few items available, and every week the items change. There could be one item that is a rerelease to help with numbers and inflation, a new recolor, and a new luxury item...
and every week the change, a very similar set up to the Monthly Collectable and Chance items, but replacing the flash sales...
The weekly changes give members enough time to get enough cash or gold to buy one... but not so long that you are married to the items...
It creates better structure and expected results.
So I would love some feed back on what you guys think, Is there something that is missing? Do you think this idea would help bring spenders back that were chased off with flash sales?

It's an interesting idea.

I think an add-on to this would be a vote feature that allows the users to choose from a group of items which ones they would like to see for the week.

That way the users can feel like they have a say on what goes in and out of the cash shop. It also means that the users truly get what they want from it as well.

.

Or a thread with suggestions on what items to rerelease and recolor.
But that would also mean opening a channel of communication with the member base...
But the way things are right now, since I don't dish out the cash my opinion doesn't matter.
I also have had the idea for a while, (when the custom gaian SD came out in Verge) that it would be cool have an item where you can use your own custom designs... there would have to be limits like the poses and appropriateness. but I think something like that would sell well and create very rare custom items...
But that would need to be very limited on supply and a very exclusive item, Just like the custom Gaian SD.
But honestly I see things getting much worse before they get better, and this new chance item is a dark omen.

That CI is Flynn's booty in disguise.

Anywho....

Yeah it would be a pretty good idea to implement, but as you said would require way better communication than we're getting.

There is seriously good potential for Gaia if they try it, but my gut tells me they won't.

Yes I totally got that impression from reading the announcement... Black holes, space travel, loot... Mintaka and Rigel were better off being exiled off Gaia.
I agree it potentially can help with the situation... but it has become very obvious that they aren't interested in making things better... I am just trying to figure out their plan... Are they trying to kill this site to make room for this +18 site? I have no intention on leaving gaia to join another scam...
The only reason I am still here is because I joined back in the day... If I was new I wouldn't even waste my time... there are too many items in the MP to search through them all... the mood here is no longer fun. I think it is time for me to log off...

I joined April 2003. I'm one of the oldest non staff gaians on this site. I really feel your pain trust me.

And you can rest assured that I will not simply let them get away with treating Gaia like a sponge for their 18+ site.

Ideas like yours have great potential because they involve more than a staff meeting, or a marketing strategy to get more cash. People need that in these trying times. To feel like their money, loyalty, and criticism makes a difference.

It's people like you that can make the biggest difference. Don't forget that, even when it seems like you're up against a wall. Walls can be climbed over with the right method.

Thank you very much... That is one of the only reasons I have stuck around through this mess...
Because In a forum full of polarity and foul humors we need a voice of reason and clarity... to assess the situation and work together to find a solution, not rip out each others throats like viscous animals!
So to be honest when I saw the invite I almost declined because I joined the Revolution Gaia Guild (which appears to have hit a stalemate, and I did not fully agree with the views there, but still tried my best to represent the guild as well as possible...) The Gaia Cash Issue has raised a lot of bad tempers that make it look like all out war between those who support and oppose the site....
But the true reality is that if the community cannot get over their petty differences then the change many desire will never happen... Essentially we all need to constructively work together to rebuild and restore this site to it's former glory.... I have been here a good long seven years, and in all this time I have never seen so many members upset and rallying together. But honestly I think the best option to make that change would be from outside courses of action.

I was once part of Revolution Gaia. I was PM'd several times by people with warnings to stop talking in SF. I see the opinions of some of the members there toward cash buyers, and frankly I didn't like what I saw. After trying to talk with the team on my most recent warning, only to have my thread locked, I left the guild.

I'm realistic. Not all cash buyers will remain buyers at this rate. Some have already begun to see just how nasty things have become ever since Goldemort came into the picture. They are buying, yes, but they are not supporting Flynn items. Some raging users still attack them, but when I see that I defend. Nobody deserves that.

We have to look out for cash buyers too. They aren't the true responsible party, as I've mentioned many times to people like Calelith, Recent Idiocy, and many many MANY staff members.

I'm glad you did join by the way, you're a pretty good person to let how you feel out. Now we have to work towards making it count for the best. Don't worry, I've got your back. 3nodding

Yes I had the idea very early on that things weren't all that revolutionary there... Contests and games started popping up and I didn't join for items... I wasn't seeing the acceptance I thought they had... more closed minded thoughts and lots of bad feelings and animosity towards others... after all thr bickering and started I laid low... still looked around but never posted or tried to put myself in the spotlight... The Revolution is dying? Nah I don't think the cause is lost, but many have given up... I find myself wanting to respond to posts, but find myself just not caring anymore...
Poor Calelith... I forget where exactly I was... it was a thread in the SF, actually a few. But there were like 5 or 6 people openly bashing him, saying all he was doing was defending Gaia, and BS...
Well from my personal experience (Which I have only spoken to him once, and he was very reasonable and logical, I don't remember him being stubborn or rude, so I just couldn't understand how these members would let their emotions get the best of them and so viciously verbally attack another user.
As far as I know nothing happened... No mods around to break up the fight... This site is really starting to suffer... Our options are to sit and squirm online, or log off and live life...
One thing I really learned here is that you make more friends and enjoy life better when you are nice and friendly to everyone.

Thank you very much for accepting me with open arms... I really liked what was posted on the guild home page, The line about treating everyone respectfully and fairly no matter what their opinion is what hooked me in... I am not the kind that jump ship at the first sign of trouble... So I'll be sticking around till things are better or shut down.
