These discussions are meant to take place at least an undergraduate level. Some are going to have specific discussion questions to keep the talk flowing. Others are going to have a simple statement or opinion with the idea of others discussing the opinion.
Rules for this Forum are difficult to set without greatly limiting the possibilities of it. Instead I'm going to leave it mostly to the members to decide what they want to discuss and how with some helpful guidelines.
GUIDELINES:
1. Please make it interesting and think outside of the obvious.
(No one wants another discussion on underlying gay/lesbian subtext in the Lord of the Rings. If a poem is CLEARLY about death... don't discuss what makes it about that subject)
2. Clearly state in the subject what you are discussing with the name of the work when possible. Think of the subject as a title to a paper. No titles of "So, I was thinking" or anything along those lines please.
3. If you outright disagree with an opinion or statement the author of the thread or anyone else makes, back it up with WHY you disagree; defend your reasoning.
4. Multiple Threads about the same work are okay. But if the discussions too closely resemble one another the less popular thread will be locked or deleted by crew.
