Character: Kilian Stage: Expert Level: 56 Luk: 46
Success Rate: 6-100
3 Aisko Alkara wins: 55 x 3 = 165 x 2 = 330 1 Aisko Alkara loss: 55 / 2 = 27.5 x 2 = 55 1 Aedaun Dragon: 65 x 2 = 130
330 + 55 + 130 = 515 exp gained 515 + 13 = 528

Kilian had arrived at the port of Aisko around mid afternoon. A crisp bite to the air took him by surprise as he stepped out into the cold environment of Aisko. He had never been on the continent before this day and had decided that if he was moving up here, then it would be best to at least explore a tiny bit before taking the plunge into a world he knew nothing about.
He jerked at the sound of a struggling roar, his gaze swiveling, looking for where the sound had come. As he made his way off of the boat, his gaze fell onto a chained up aedaun dragon being prodded at by what looked to be Oblivionite healers. What were they doing with an aedaun dragon on Aisko? As he walked past the small crowd, he pulled the hood on his cloak up and closer around his face. Both to block the cold air and to block the other oblivionites from knowing he was one of them. Muffled voices made their way to his ears.
“We have to travel to the lake.”
“It’s so cold though.”
“Oh well. She needs to be healed. With the dragon and the lake…”
The voices were finally out of the range of Kilian’s hearing. Whatever they were up to, he wanted nothing to do with it and was happy to leave the party behind. The last thing he wanted to was to get into the middle of someone else’s mess. He took a deep breath of the chilly air and his whole body shuddered. “Damn it’s cold.” He muttered down to Amadia as she bobbed her head up and down. Kilian had fitted her with her own furry cloak when she had insisted on come along with him on this journey. “I wish you had stayed back in Eowyn,” he said as he frowned.
Have to get use to it anyway. Kilian knew she was right. They would be living on the continent soon and they all would have to grow use to the cold. He pulled the cloak tighter around him, hands delving into the special pocket on the inside and pulling out the song of stone Erionda had gifted to him. His fingers rubbed over it and the heat instantly emanated from the stone, filling his whole body with a welcome warm. He bent, holding it out for Amadia to rub as well. “At least we have this.”
Kilian placed the song of stone back into the cloak’s pocket and reached out to pat Amadia on the head. As they continued on, it seemed as if the wind became stronger, pushing back on Kilian, determined to not let him get very far in his trek. As he pulled the cloak tighter around him a blur caught his attention. Amadia growled, head ducked down low to the ground. Something was close. What, though, could it be? Kilian gripped one of the swords at his side, ready to defend himself if need be. Another blur caused Kilian to swirl around. He tried his best to follow the object that seemed to be teasing him.
Then it was there - a large alkara had landed a few paces away from Kilian and Amadia. It’s wings were outstretched for a fraction of a second before it flapped them and sent a strong gust of wind flying their way. Kilian dug his heels into the soft snow but was still thrown back quite a bit by the alkara’s power. “Damn it,” he muttered the curse as he brought both of his swords out of their sheaths. “I don’t have time for this.” Growling, he sprinted of, wings tucked and hidden under his cloak, away from the wind. Amadia was quick on his heels, ever faithful and ever eager to help defend her friend.
The drakein roared, darting around Kilian and to the side of the bird as Kilian sidestepped one of the beast's giant wings. He slashed down with one sword, slicing through the wing just as Amadia darted under the beast’s other wing and latched onto its leg. Blood gushed out of the wounds and covered the white landscape in splotches of red. A stab with his sword and Kilian found the beast’s heart, puncturing the organ.
The duo pulled back as the alkara began to fall. As the lifeless body hit the ground, a ghastly sound could be heard in the distant. It sounded as if a mournful song was being sang. Could it be the other alkara mourning for the loss of a brethren? Kilian didn’t have much chance to think on this before another alkara swooped down. It lowered its beak to the fallen beast and let a cracked sound out. Its mate? Possibly? Kilian wasn’t sure but knew that he would have another fight on his hands soon enough.
He brought his swords up, ready to attack as soon as the alkara began to move. This time, the alkara seemed stronger, faster. Was it because it was male or was it because it was enraged? It’s mate having been killed. Kilian knew that if Erionda was injured or defeated in battle, he would know no end until the b*****d that done it was dead or Kilian, himself, was killed. That thought caused him to pause in his movements. He knew the bird had attacked him first and that he had every right to defend himself and his friend. It did not, however, remove any of the guilt or sorrow he felt for this other bird.
That momentary hesitation cost Kilian a good chance at defeating the bird right away. The beast’s large wing smacked into Kilian and threw him off to the side, knocking the wind out of his lungs as he hit the ground. He lay, gasping for air in the cold snow. His lungs burning with the raw hurt of the impact. He struggled to bring air into his tortured lungs. As Kilian struggled to set up, the beast came at him again. He rolled to the side, just as the beast brought it’s beak down, intent on pecking Kilian. He took the chance to slash up with his sword, ripping into the alkara’s throat and sending even more blood out onto the already stained snow.
Another one dead. And more echoing sounds of the song he had heard earlier. The snow began to mix into the swirling winds, blowing his cloak up and away from his body. Kilian shivered, the temperature even colder with the wind blowing as it was. He pushed himself up from the ground, glancing over at Amadia to make sure she was ok. His shoulders slumped when he saw and felt the distress of his bonded.
Whirling around, Kilian’s gaze shot to the air as two more alkara flew circles overhead “Well hell,” he muttered as the wind picked up even stronger. A roar in the distant blended into the sound of the whistling wind and Kilian paid it no mind as one of the alkara swooped, taking a stab at him with it’s sharpened beak. It pulled back and then swooped for Amadia. The drakein barely had time to jump back out of the clawed feet’s way. She snarled, snapped at the air in front of her as if daring the beast to try again. “Amadia! No!” Kilian lunged, too late. Amadia let out a screech as the alakar dug its claws into her sides and heft her up with it. Kilian felt the pain in his chest - the tug of their bond causing him to almost fall to his knees. “No…” A blind rage seemed to take him over. His wings and tail twitched as he threw his sword into the air with as much force as he could. The blade hit home as it was burried into the beast’s stomach. It’s feet opened up, letting Amadia fall to the ground where Kilian was instantly by her side. Fine...I’ll be fine. Though weak and bleeding it seemed as if she were telling the truth.
Kilian’s gaze shot up to the air as a roar, not the sullen song of the alkara, echoed through the air. In an instant, the source of the sound was made known. An aedaun dragon, broken chains around it’s legs, butted into the last alkara left in the sky. It left, apparently knowing, better than it’s brethren, when to call it quits. The aedaun dragon now had its sights on Kilian “Stay, Amadia. Please don’t try to help.” The words were a command, something he willed his bonded friend to listen to.
He raised his left arm, just as the dragon landed and struck out with it’s clawed out foot. Kilian yelled, the pain throbbing through his body as the aedaun’s claws ripped through his arm, sending his own blood mixing into the already stained snow. A pained roar ripped from Amadia’s throat as she felt Kilian’s pain through their bond. Kilian! She shouted through the bond. This and the thought of getting back to Erionda, forced Kilian back to his feet.
He searched for his swords, first spotting the one that was still lodged into the chest of the last alkara he had killed. Pulling the blade out, it made a sickening sucking sound that made Kilian cringe. He whirled around, instantly regretting the move as the world around him spun, causing him to step off balance. He needed to end this and quick. The pain in his arm was almost unbearable as the dragon faced Kilian down. Both of them took off running at the same time, Kilian bringing his sword up last minute and stabbing into the dragon’s neck and out the other side.
A gurgled cry before the dragon burst into dust an an orb was left in its wake. Kilian fell to his knees, his breathing labored as he tore the cloak away from his arm. Deep slash marks ran from his shoulder, down to his elbow. He grimaced as he picked some clean snow up and smeared over them. The best cleaning he could manage at the moment. He quickly tore pieces of his cloak and wrapped around the wounds. Crawling over to Amadia, he repeated the process. “I’m sorry. This is the best I can do until we get home to Rio.” He patted Amadia’s head and forced himself to rise and head back to the boat.
