So who here's into Pokémon and/or has the new X and/or Y games? If you do, let's share some friend codes to fill out our safaris. This is mine and as you can see I've got a Fire safari.

I apparently... traded a Gabite over wonder trade recently cause I had a few... this one had my garchompite on it...
yes get your laughs out vamp I randomly traded a pokemon with a megastone on it... I know...
anyways if anyone isn't interested in garchomp or its megaform i'll trade, or even pay you gaia stuff for it.
same goes for a houndoomite which is really what I'm after since I actually use houndoom.

So… Who wants to help me test out my team using the standard tournament format (double battle, four pokemon out at a time, Kalos native pokemon only, Mewtwo, Zygarde, Xerneas, and Yveltal banned, no two pokemon with the same number or item on them, best of three match, keep the same six pokemon you were using but can switch out two of them between rounds)?

HU? none of those rules make any sense to me... I'll make it easier then. For the tournaments, the standard battle format is a double battle at flat rules (this bans special pokemon like Mewtwo and the three Kalos legendaries, as well as making it so that you can't have two pokemon with the same name [like having two Charizards in your team] or the same item [so no giving your entire team Sitrus berries]). Flat rules automatically cuts off the levels at 50 and lets you have a 6 Pokémon team, however you can only use four per battle. Now that that's been established, every tournament battle is conducted as a best of three match. You are allowed to switch up to two Pokémon at the start of the second battle and the third battle two if both players each won one fight. So say you had a team consisting of Luxray, Houndoom, Lucario, Steelix, Raichu, and Haxorus; you can send only four of them into battle due to the flat rules (let's say you send in Luxray, Lucario, Steelix, and Haxorus), but at the beginning of the second round of the match, you can swap your Houndoom and Raichu for two of them (example, swapping Raichu for Luxray and Houndoom for Lucario). So long as you don't put in two of the same pokemon or have two pokemon holding the same item, you're good, but your team of four MUST consist of four out of the six pokemon you started with, no switching around between your party and battle box. Now that that's been covered, it's time to discuss the final rule the new tournament has: With the exclusion of Mewtwo and the three Kalos legendaries, which are banned from the tournament, you can only have a party made of Pokémon that are native to Kalos. What this means is that if the Pokémon is in one of the three Kalos Pokédexes, you can use it in your party, but all other Pokémon are banned and will get you disqualified if you use them (so no Arceuses, Luxrays, Blazikens, etc). To put it simply, if you can't find it in Central Kalos Pokédex from #001 to #150, Coastal Kalos Pokédex from #001 to #153, or Mountain Kalos Pokédex from #001 to #147, you can't use it. (Remember that Mewtwo, Xerneas, Zygarde, and Yveltal are the only Kalos Pokémon in these Pokédexes that you MAY NOT USE). If you find it in the friend safari, so long as it's in one of those three 'dexes, you can use it, otherwise you can't. That's pretty much it. 1. Battles are conducted as best of three (in order to advance to the next match you must win 2 out of the three battles) in Double Battle format using the flat rules option (special Pokémon banned, no two Pokémon can hold the same item or have the same name in the Pokédex) 2. You can change out Pokémon between battles so long as you always have the four that are fighting being a part of the six Pokémon team you started with (good rule of thumb is just leave the Pokémon you'll use in the battle box, that way you can't swap them or their items out). 3. And your team MUST consist of Pokémon found in the Coastal, Central, and Mountain Kalos Pokédexes, but CANNOT be Mewtwo, Xerneas, Yveltal, or Zygarde.

*Feels my head began to throb at reading all those rules..*
Man thanks for reminding me. On top of my stage duties w/ our japanese and American Anime Guest stars, I also have to help run the pokemon/digimon game tournaments.
So I am fairly familiar with those rules, but we modify them.. YOu can use any pokemon, exccept the legendaries from any of the darn games cause they are op....
Our first tournament is a single match break down.. To the last 5 contestants, one being a seed.
Then we go do a best outta three, with rules similar to what you listed, except that they can only use disposable items like berries on their pokemon. AKA no potions or stat buffers like the miracle seed etc.. Then it is winner takes all to the final three.

That's usually how they go, but Nintendo/Game Freak decided to change it this time around because of the PokéBank. If that weren't coming out until the summer or something, I think the rules would be as they always were, but this is to prevent people from using Pokémon either brought in by transferring old OP pokemon from the other games, keep people from using cheated Pokémon they transfer over (as I don't think they've made the patch yet to prevent those from being brought in), Also, I feel that they want to make sure that people learn to use the new pokemon for the first Kalos world championship, I don't know if they did a similar thing for black and white but it would make sense that this being the first one since they came out, that they'd want to have the focus be on the Kalos Pokémon, but they also made sure to include some of the older Generations in the giant pokedex so that people who wanted an older gen team could still have that in. I also learned that the tournament won't be held anywhere near me, so looks like the ones I'll be taking part in are the rating battles, which will be following the same rules as this tournament, and I'm not sure but I think I saw that those battles will maybe help people qualify for the world championship?

Ah gotcha. But i agree with Nero, battles used to be just for fun.. and now...they are.. well *points to all the competiveness* for prizes and ranking.. that to me takes away from all the fun.. Then again I be old, stodgy and set in my ways.

so I started a nuzlock in gold recently, going ok... could be better but I only lost one pokemon, a semi important one but i'll make due. I cut a few rules cause I know I would have problems with them, the catching only on new routes I changed to only in new places, (caves, buildings, etc.) my only other problem with the rules so far has been naming them... I have forgotten to do it a few times but luckally the name rater is in the 4th town so I fixed that quickly. 2 gyms down at the moment but I'm leveling right now.
