Origins: Ascendants are creatures that have only recently appeared in Ranfonn, but have managed to quickly carve themselves a place amongst one of the most prosperous nations of the surface. Ascendants claim to be the future of all races. They are one of the few races who still remembers in details their origins and the dark world of Celocadis if only to preach about the importance of ascending upwards towards their final destination. Like vermin, they had crawled out from the darkness of the earth to run across its surface, it was only natural that they should only climb higher and take to the skies, thus, gaining the ability to fly. They are not Beastmen of the Avian branch and calling them so is a great offense.

The source of their rapid evolution lies in their powerful magic. Each and every one of those creatures are extremely well-versed in magic. Spells that would usually need years to master are as simple as breathing for them.

Inherent Powers:
-Physical:

  • Regeneration of their wings should they be cut off.

-Magic:

  • Incredible reserves of magical energy.
  • Flight no matter how impossible it is with their wings.

Inherent Weakness:

  • Faith. The essence of Ascendants rest in their belief in themselves. Should they lose confidence and become doubtful of themselves, they will see themselves lose their wings and slowly wither away.
  • Weak against mental assaults or telepathy and its derivatives
  • They must always emit a large amount of magical energy. It is said that their capital is literally a beacon of magical energy because of that. Having their energy emission blocked will make them extremely sick even for a short amount of time.

Physical Description:
Standing tall at 1.8 to 2 meters, they all have a wingspan of over 6 meters. Their wings are a peculiarity as they defy all laws of physics. They are not strong enough to keep them afloat in the air and can be regrown unlike all other limbs if it is cut off. They are of a wide variety as well as they are not limited to bird-like wings, some taking the transparency and scaliness of insect wings, others have the leathery feel of batwings while some very rare individuals are gifted with wings of pure energy.
