THIS IS RUINING MY LIFE. emotion_0A0

My problem is I see something pretty and instantly must have it.
In Gaia, it's more of a problem, because I have control over all my money.
In real life, I have a bank account, but I reeeeaaally try to be careful with it. Cuz it's money.
How do I get control of this impulse?? It's going to bring about my ruin one day, I know it! emotion_donotwant

I don't really know how to control this irl. ;w; Cuz I do the same thing....

I can help with the Gaia spending though. For me, when I have a lot of money,
I trade it all over to my bank account (A mule that holds all my precious stuff)
So, if I see that I don't have a lot on my main, I won't spend it all!
Or, if I reeeeeeally want an item, I go on tektek and see if I can make an
outfit with the item. If I can't I usually stop wanting it.... xD

Long text, you have been warned.

Personally, with me, I ask myself, "Do you really want this? Do I really need this? Why do I need this?" or at least something on the range of these questions depending on what the item I want is. (Such as for a food item, I would think, "Check the nutrition facts first and see if you like what you see." and "Even if this tastes good, you'll regret eating it later, so why not opt for [alternative here] or find something else you might like?") I somewhat have the same problem, but I have more of a "self control" over it (partially thanks to parents and denying to buy things), usually ending up with me not buying the item of urge. I guess, in the end, you have to tell yourself no. Fight that urge no matter how much you want it, even though having that new pretty thing would be awesome to have. What if you want to buy this beautiful item? In the long run, youknow that getting into this habit is bad for you. "Think before you buy", as I always say to myself when shopping. Maybe avoid going to the mall some days too. You can also look at it this way: the fact that you can actually afford these things is pretty impressive as it already is. The fact that you probably have a whole bunch of shoes or clothes or jewelery is already enough for you to own is cool too. Now think of the people who could have had those clothes, and maybe perhaps the people making those clothes too. These people don't have the fortunate position of being the social class you stand in. Be mindful of your choices or else you may end up like them/lower than them. And no, buying more things does not help them at all, just the greedy company that hires them.

Whoa. Never thought of it like that before.

If all else fails, I suggest placing some money in a separate savings account, that way you can get some money when you're in a pinch and avoiding the mall for a few weeks. ^^
