Pokémon Trainer from the Unova Region
On the Surface of It All
Gender: Male Age: Twenty Birthday: January 16 Sexuality: Pansexual Height: Five foot seven inches Weight: One hundred and thirty pounds Build: Ottermode physique Appearance to the Mundane: Alphonse has shoulder length wispy golden locks that hug the sides of his face, outlining his jaw and highlighting his high cheekbones. His eyes are a bright sapphire blue complimented by creamy pale skin only marred by a couple of freckles across the bridge of his nose. It is not rare that he’ll sport a pair of black rimmed glasses, especially when he’s writing. Will also occasionally tie back his hair when it gets in the way. Al’s clothing choice usually consists of a button up shirt—normally black with gold trimmings—a sweater, a pair of fossil gray trousers tucked into cinnamon colored combat boots.
Personality: Alphonse is a very hyper-energetic, very passionate lad with a caring disposition. He tends to be optimistic and forward thinking; there isn’t a whole lot that can kill his cheeriness. Al is fiercely loyal to the people and the Pokémon he befriends and will do anything to protect them; best not to mess with them. He lives in the world of people possibilities and has excellent people skills; he understands and cares about people and Pokémon, and has a special talent for bringing out the best in others. Because Alphonse's people skills are so extraordinary, he has the ability to make people do exactly what he wants them to do—most of the time unknowingly. However, Alphonse’s personality is not static. During a battle or whenever he’s judging/watching, everything from his mannerisms to the way he speaks, does a complete 180 flip. Like this, he is natural leader, although he usually choses to remain in the background until he see a real need to take over the lead. When he is in leadership role, he is quite effective, because he is able to objectively see the reality of a situation, and is adaptable enough to change things which aren't working well. Very analytic and more introverted with an air of confidence around him. Most people don’t consider his two halves to be the same person.
Home Town: Castelia City, Unova
History: Alphonse’s story starts out in Castelia City where he was born to a pair of business workers. His mother worked in the Game Freak building while his father helped to operate Studio Castelia. From a very small age, Al spent most of his time in park of the Central Plaza with his older sister, Lena. That where he met a young Vulpix, who would later become his life-long partner, for the first time. The two played together almost every day, running around trees and building obstacle courses from the benches and shrubs. Often times, other wild Pokémon joined the two and Al formed a strong connection with them. When his sister turned ten and could officially catch Pokémon, he protect the small firefox from being caught by her, stating that she wasn’t allowed to take someone so dear to him away.
Eventually, his older brother, Eren, also left to become a trainer and coordinator, leaving the five year old Al alone in his household (with his parents of course). He quickly found that he didn’t mind much; after all he had Vulpix to play the days away with. However, it wasn’t long before tragedy befell them. The two accidentally wandered into the sewers and came across a grumpy Muk that poisoned them both. While Alphonse successfully managed to escape with the fox in his thin arm and got his friend to the PokeCenter, the boy’s immune system suffered a great deal. After about a week in the hospital, Al found it harder to function as he did once and breathing in city air was a bit painful. His parents, concerned about his health, decided to send him to go live with his grandparents, a pair of breeder, who owned a farm near Floccesy Town. The small firefox that refused to leave his side the entire time he was in the hospital followed after him, refusing to be separated from her best friend.
Alphonse greatly enjoyed the simple farm life, away from the loud noises of the city. It was nice to be able to see the stars for a change and a large house with a bedroom that he didn’t have to share with his brother was a nice change from the medium apartment that he had lived in until that point. Despite his distance from the big city, he made sure to keep up with current happenings, often spending hours at a time just reading newspapers. While he’d always done well in school, it wasn’t until he had the chance to study on his own that he fell in love with learning, especially reading slash writing, and the mathematics. He filled notebook upon notebook with observations and fiction; sometimes even journal entries took up a tenth of the pages.
When finally reached the ripe age of ten, he begged his grandparents and parents to let him go out on an adventure like his siblings, but they feared for his health and eventually struck a compromise: he could go out once he turned fourteen. And so he waited, working on the farm and helping in Floccesy Town when he could; he took up a job at one of the small stores there for a year. Eventually his fourteenth birthday came around and the boy set out for the Kanto region, stopping by Professor Oak’s lab to get a Pokedex and receive a Charmander as his starter. And thus, the trio set out to not only battle the gyms, but also explore the world around them, documenting any finds and writing about them. They had a grand adventure blazing through the Kanto league, making it to the very top and becoming the Champion (though he refused to take the title and Gary’s position, so he remained the Indigo League Champion). However, his journey came to an abrupt stop just before his departure from Vermillion City to the Kalos region when he was challenge by a trainer who specialized in poison types. While he won the battle, his health suffered and he was forced to return to his grandparent’s house. After a few years of once more working the farm, building up his strength, and trying to overcome his fear of being poisoned yet again, his grandmother finally told him go out and explore again. She insisted at a twenty year old boy shouldn’t waste his valuable youth lounging around when he could be having adventures. And so, a few days later, Alphonse set out a newly hatched Eevee named Artemis and a young Murkow, Cronus, who decided an adventure away from the farm was just what he needed.

Interesting Facts: His Pokémon have the utmost faith in him and they’re very much in sync. His Vulpix doesn’t usually need verbal instruction to attack or dodge; she tends to already know what he’s thinking based on their battle history. He has developed a particular uneasiness around poison types. Currently, his right wrist is currently in a brace after accidentally losing grip of a heavy box and twisting his hand strangely.
