It is a magnificent hall brimming with knowledge for all types of people. Be it history, fiction, or even recent news articles. Over-all, it is the perfect place to come when in need to some silence and company.

Kali Zane ~ Ember Determination that is incorruptible From the other side a terror to behold Annihilation will be unavoidable Kali pushed through the tall library doors and felt herself breathe a little easier. She never did mind the company of strangers but strangers usually left her alone. She never really had to interact with so many at one time. The library was empty, just as she thought. Most people seemed to avoid books and chose the television.
Kali offered a smile to Craig and then she let her eyes scan the books on the shelf. She had never seen so many books, in one place, before.

Isaac Knight________ "I think the librarian's out to lunch you guys....or dinner. Hell I can't remember what time it is. Anyways, might want to try back in about an hour if you're trying to return something." From around one of the bookshelves approached a young man staring rather intently at the 'Beginner's Pharmacology' book that he had his nose buried in. Apparently, the library wasn't quite as empty as Kali had originally believed. And now it was definitely more occupied than Isaac had expected. Few people came in here before it was time to study for finals or write term papers. Without even taking his eyes off the page, Isaac sat himself down at a nearby table, waving a brief greeting. "Hello Craig" he asked, certainty of his identity arising from the unsettling feeling that he had whenever he was around him. If he hadn't been here so long and had time to get used to it, he would have peeled out of the room as quick as his legs could possibly carry him. "What'cha doin down here? I never see you in here." Hell, Isaac virtually never saw Craig anywhere. Looking up at him, he was surprised to see that his companion was someone he'd actually never met before, either. "Er...hello to you too," he greeted, thrown by the new girl's presence. Introductions weren't what he was expecting when he came in here. Rising to his feet back up from the table he sat down at, he tilted his head sideways slightly. "New girl?" ________Blackout

Kali Zane ~ Ember Determination that is incorruptible From the other side a terror to behold Annihilation will be unavoidable Kali's emerald eyes wandered across the library shelves. Her attention was ripped from them when a young man appeared from behind one of the bookshelves and sat down at a table near her. She studied his face but there was no flood of information, it was nice to be able to actually meet people without already knowing all of their dirty little secrets.
She frowned at him.
"No, not 'new girl'," she said dryly. "I'm, Kali." She had so many questions already but she didn't quite have a good excuse, that she wanted to share, of why she lacked the knowledge most people probably had and knew everything they probably didn't. She could assume that the librarian, the stranger talked about, was someone who one returned books to. That meant that books could be taken out of the library.
Kali pondered the thought of being able to take out any book that she wanted, read it and then return it. What could she learn from books? Did they talk about things such as librarians? She didn't understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction because the only books she had ever been allowed to read were books on war and strategy.
She glanced at the title of Isaac's book. "Beginner's Pharmacology," she asked with a smirk that quickly faded when the word registered. "Are you some sort of doctor," she asked, a harsh warning lingered in her voice.
Part of her wanted to bolt, to fight, to get away. But there was a part of her, the greater, more curious part of her that begged her to stay.

Isaac Knight________ "Only to my friends too broke to actually afford one," Isaac chuckled to himself. "Not a doctor....too much schooling. No patience for that kinda bookwork....and too many pieces of advanced electrical equipment. No, I'm just studying for my Emergency Medical Technician class...it's really just glorified first aid, but whatever." He chuckled as he closed his book on the table, and smirked slightly at her. "And don't take the 'new girl' thing personally, I was 'Hey, you' for over a week when I first started here. Nice to meet you, Kali," Isaac offered, extending his hand for a handshake. ________Blackout

Kali Zane ~ Ember Determination that is incorruptible From the other side a terror to behold Annihilation will be unavoidable Kali relaxed when Isaac said that the wasn't a doctor but was basically studying first aid. She could be okay with that. She hated how much she tensed when she thought or knew someone to be a doctor. She really hated doctors, but she had good enough reason. All doctors studied science. Scientists studied science. Kali hated science.
She gave a slight nod when Isaac told her not to take the 'new girl' comment too personal. She was very knew to civilized anything and studied his intentions when he extended his hand towards her.
Muscles not tight...relaxed...no intention to fight...
Kali extended her own hand and shook Isaac's hand with a firm grip. When she let go, she glanced around again.
"So this Library," she paused and tried to find the right words that wouldn't make her appear stupid. She really wasn't. Just inexperienced in the civil world. "You said you can return books, that means you can take them out?"

Isaac Knight________ 'A really new girl,' Isaac thought as his eyebrow arched. Okay, so he hung around them for significantly more time than your average modern teenager, but this was the first time he'd ever met someone who didn't even know what a library was. Her accent was too American for him to guess her a foreign student or something like that. And her demeanor wasn't that of some kind of imbecile. Isaac needed to say something, cause even he was noticing the silence beginning to get just a tad....awkward. "Umm....yes, that's generally the way libraries work," The words were flat, and completely lacking in any kind of tone...or tact, for that matter. The mutant was already mentally wincing at his shining, glorious moment of foot-swallowing. He was wondering if there was some kind of life achievement for the number of people he could piss off entirely on accident. He also noticed that opening his mouth didn't actually stop it from getting any less awkward, either. 'Well, THAT was diplomatic...' he mentally mused. "Yes, you can check books out. Most of them you just stamp the card over at the counter, but a few of them you need permission to take out. Never ran into that particular problem myself, though, and I'm in here nearly every day. The librarian's out, but I can help you find something, if you were looking at it." ________Blackout

Kali Zane ~ Ember Determination that is incorruptible From the other side a terror to behold Annihilation will be unavoidable Kali didn't really know what it mean to be embarrassed. She never felt the need to feel guilty about questions she asked, even if everyone else knew them. She knew that there was common knowledge unclear to here and uncommon that she already knew.
She smirked at Isaac's unease. Although, she thought that he redeemed himself rather nicely.
"And why do people borrow books from a library," she asked. "There is nothing you can learn from false information," she said as she eyed the fiction section. "And no one knows what they really want to learn, in order to search out a text book." Her eyes drifted to the non-fiction section and then to the pharmacology book.
Clearly, Kali hadn't had much experience with the freedom of books or a hobby for that matter. She knew how to do two things well: follow orders and take names.
Questions...questions, stop with the questions you idiot! You want people to like you, not runaway. Not to mention, you have no good explanation for why you don't know this...
Kali glanced at Craig and then at Isaac. She wondered if playing off the strict homeschooling would work, or if it would just lead to more questions from her peers.

Craig Thomson Ghost Say you want to stay, you want me to... Craig had remained silent after leaving the hallways, for the duration of the trip to the library, and while Kali and Isaac talked. He had already exhausted his minimal desire for speaking and Stood slightly behind Kali, silent. he had nodded to Isaac, when the young man had greeted him, but uttered not a word. Atleast the Library was not packed full of people, and that helped ease Craig's fear.
Kali seemed to not understand how a library worked, and that puzzled him, even he who never wanted to be near other people knew how a library functioned, but his puzzlement was not great enough to get him to speak up. Instead, while the two talked, he let his eyes wander the shelves. He had seen all of these books many times, and had no interest in reading any of them, but it never hurt to look.
Finally with standing erect becoming too discomforting to him, he dropped to his usual low crouch, hands still firmly shoved into his pockets. Xavier had said that he often made himself look smaller as a result of a mental tick to try and avoid notice, like a hedgehog's curling into a ball. Say you'll never die, you'll always haunt me...

Isaac Knight________ If Isaac didn't have a clue what to say before, he sure as hell had no idea what to say now. False information? It took his eyes following hers to the 'fiction' section for him to understand exactly what she was talking about. And even then he hardly had a clue what the hell she meant. It's not like he read The Sword of Shannara for its historical accuracy. His baffled stare only increased in its incredulity, and, try as he might, he couldn't help but let out a small laugh at the absurdity of it. You only ever had to do something as ridiculous as explaining the concept of a library in TV shows and bad fan fiction. Seriously, he was starting to wonder if this girl grew up under an underpass, and as much as he hated to laugh at her as that small outburst came out, he just knew of no other way to handle it. It was just so.....odd. What was weird, though, and caused him "You...ha...you do realize it's not called fiction because the author is trying to fool someone into thinking what's in the book is true, right? Have you never read a book just for fun?" But it was the second part of her statement that had thrown him for a loop. What did she mean by 'no one knows what they really want to learn'? It's not the kind of thing that was said on a regular basis, and it made very little sense. "And have you never been....curious before? Ever had a question and you just wanted to know what the answer was? Found a fascinating mystery you just wanted to learn about?" Isaac reached down and held up his pharmacology book to prove his point. "Take this, for example. I'm not reading it because my class requires me to...well, yet, anyways. But I love the way the human body works. It's so amazing and incredible, so intricate and complex. I love finding out about how it works, all the amazing little things in it that just come together in the most amazing piece of engineering in the world." Isaac leaned back as he entered what several of his classmates referred to as, 'honor student mode'. "What makes wind? Why does water extinguish fire? What causes an earthquake? What are the social customs in China? Hell, every time you go to a dictionary to look up a word you don't know, you're just satisfying your curiosity." There was a long, awkward pause, and Isaac frowned as if struck by an irritating realization. "I went off on a tangent again, didn't I?" he muttered blandly. "Look, the point is that people know what they want to learn because they're curious about it. Don't tell me there's never been something you were curious about...hell, you're curious about this library, if nothing else, aren't you?" ________Blackout

Kali Zane ~ Ember Determination that is incorruptible From the other side a terror to behold Annihilation will be unavoidable Kali's eyes darkened, dangerously when Kaiden began to laugh. Although she found that some people laughed when they were in discomfort, she couldn't help the small flames that filled her eyes.
"If the stories are not true, then what is the point of reading them," Kali asked. "Nothing is gained by lies." She paused and thought of the word fun. Fun was when she teased the guards who tried to catch her. Fun was dodging death after a mission complete. Fun was fighting. She sighed and wished her flames away. "I have never read anything for fun," she said and fixed her eyes on Isaac. "I was never given that chance, so of course I don't understand the reasons why people choose to read. People don't know what they wish to learn, because if they did, they wouldn't have to learn it."
She glanced around for Craig and found him crouched on the floor. She closed her eyes.
"I read what was given to me, nothing more. Your library sparks my curiosity because you can borrow books. That is nice of someone to let you take their books without ransom," she glanced at the librarian's empty desk. "But I don't think I will ever understand the purpose of fiction."
Kali shook her head. No, she would never understand why someone would want to read something that wasn't true. Her eyes fixed on Isaac, again. "I have been curious about things, but my curiosities rest with the ideas and the way people think. For example, why read lies? Why would someone let a stranger borrow books. Humans are not a thing to be trusted. They are liars and cheats. Yet, they trust each other to return what they have taken?"
Kali shrugged and began to walk, cautiously toward the books. She stopped and looked at Craig. "He is interested in human life," she said jabbing a thumb in Isaac's direction. "What are you interested in?"

This was the best onomatopoeia one could use to describe the sound that suddenly disrupted the quiet of the library. It was the equivalent to a loud burst of air being displaced in an instant. The sound was followed by the unpleasant scent of sulfur, and finally, by the appearance of a strange, furry blue mutant, emerging from a thick, violet cloud of smoke.
Kurt Wagner was now perched atop one of the many bookshelves within the library, his legs bent in a squat, a book held easily in the grasp of his long tail. "Guten Tag, everyvone!" he said in a cheery hello, looking the group over, "Good to see you as ever Isaac. Craig." he nodded in greeting to the two, "Ach, and I see a new face. Could you be ze new student Logan mentioned? Nice to meet you." he jumped down from the bookshelf, now standing up straight as he extended a hand in greeting to Kali, "My name is Kurt Wagner, of ze X-Men."

Craig Thomson Ghost Say you want to stay, you want me to... Kali pointed out that Isaac was interested in Life, and had asked him what he was interested in. The truth of the matter, he really was not interested in much of anything, but before he could even speak his piece on the subject, the unmistakable sound of Kurt's Teleporting into the room caused Craig to visibly flinch. One would think that after year's of being around the fuzzy blue elf, Craig might be accustomed to the fact that Nightcrawler would pop in and out of rooms, but such was not the case.
In response to kali's question, Craig shrugged his shoulders, and uttered not a word. He had always kept to himself, and today was the longest he had spent in the vicinity of other people, mutants or otherwise, without letting go of his control and fleeing. He might be interested in various things, but had never had a long enough amount of time to get into anything before people invariably showed up, and he just could not handle it. Say you'll never die, you'll always haunt me...

Kali Zane ~ Ember Determination that is incorruptible From the other side a terror to behold Annihilation will be unavoidable Kali was interested in the library. It was fascinating to see so many books in one room. So many books that she would be allowed to read if she could simply let her mind dwell on one thing long enough to wonder. She read the spines of the books closest to her and frowned when she found that she was in the science section of Non-fiction. She hated science. Her hate for science was undying. She would rather never know anything that was related to science, but she knew a lot. She hated how people came to know things, science related. They dissected. They tested. They poked their sly little noses until whatever it was they were studying finally gave up the data. There was only one thing that she hated more than science...
A loud sound came from somewhere above her. Kali jumped into a fighting position, and without even thinking, her eyes and fists were engulfed in flames as she tried to see through her flame filled eyes and the purple haze. If it wasn't against the rules, she would kill whoever decided that it would be fun to surprise her. Even though it was against the rules, she still could. She could, but she wouldn't if they weren't a threat.
She studied the rather blue, fuzzy elf that sat on top of one of the bookshelves. She noticed his tali which held a book but her eyes studied his. He greeted everyone in the room and then turned to her.
Kali wondered what Logan said about her because as far as she knew, he didn't like her much. After all, she did fight him and they did have an exchange of not so friendly words. The blue elf said his name was Kurt Wagner which sent her head into a whirl of photos and files.
Kurt Wagner...mutant...performer...teleporter...dangerous because of the element of surprise...tail...keep senses about...dangerous...if met...
Kali shoved the thoughts aside and studied Kurt's intentions. He held out his hand, in greeting and she saw that he had no intention of harming her. Her eyes returned to their emerald green state and her entire body relaxed as her flames vanished.
"Kali," she said and gave Kurt's hand a firm shake. She didn't have bone crushing strength, but she was certainly no dainty girl.

Kurt's eyes shined in warmth and friendliness as Kali took his hand, returning the firm shake, his grip slightly more slack to allow her control, but not weak enough to appear intimidated. "It is good to have you here Kali. It is alvays good to gain new students here. I hope you are able to learn a lot, not just about your abilities, but also about life."
He hadn't been at all phased by the obviously aggressive stance Kali had taken for a moment. First of all, he was used to such actions from his more battle-hardened friends, such as Logan and Betsy, but also he wanted to give the girl the opportunity to feel as much at ease as possible. If she needed to react first to feel safe, then that was fine by him, "If you ever have any qvestions about ze school, or need anyzing at all, you are velcome to ask me." he concluded his introduction before turning his attention back to the rest of the library.
Kurt noticed the reaction Craig had had from his appearance, feeling guilty. Just about everyone else in the school had grown used to his sudden entrances, yet he never failed to give the young man a fright no matter how many times he appeared before him. Thankfully the other was not out and about the school very often to be intruded upon in the first place. He smiled apologetically as he walked by Craig, giving him a reassuring nod, but otherwise maintaining the space he knew the boy needed, before placing his book, Doubt: A Parable, away in the returns cubby.
