Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable

Kali headed inside and decided that she wasn't quite ready to return to her room. It would be there when she needed to retreat. At the moment, she wasn't sure what she wanted. Oddly, enough, she missed Han. Or, the idea of having someone by her. Someone who didn't fear her.

The halls were relatively empty. She was okay with that. She had seen schools where the halls were full with more students than there were lockers, and she wasn't ready for that. Closed spaces created by too many bodies in one area made her feel like the oxygen was thickening.

Her red hair flowed down her back and her eyes shifted, as she studied every movement.

Say you want to stay,
you want me to...

There was a new person in the halls today. her presence was almost glaringly bright, like she burned with fire within. That fire scared him. He let go of his control, and faded from the senses of those nearby, and an intangible field of electro-magnetic energy radiated outwards. He couldn't help it. Why had no one told him there was going to be a new person. Any second now, the field would start to take a hold on her, and she would begin to feel watched, anxious. As softly as he could, he moved to a dark corner, one shadowed from the light, or as shadowed as it could be, and crouched, hugging his knees to his chest.

Garnet eyes tracked her advance through the hallway, forever wary, and watchful, as though he had chanced upon a large snake, and could not decide if it was poisonous. Her hair burned the same color as she did, a fiery crimson red that almost looked as if you could burn yourself by touching it.

Hiding seemed like the best option, till it was established that this new person didn't mean him any harm. He hoped one of the instructors would come by soon. He hated not knowing.

Kali continued walking. She began to feel as if she was being followed. She turned around slowly. No one was there. Her brow furrowed as she wondered if it was just her imagination, or the fact that she felt uneasy outside.

She blinked away her worries and saw something move, in the shadows of her perrefrial vision. Her skin began to itch and she began to recognize the signs of fear that were foreign to her.

"Who's there," she asked as she decided to stand still. Her fingers itched to move. She really hated surprises. Her eyes shifted and she wondered if it was truly just her or if someone was playing games.

Her mind tried to search for a mutant with this power, but she couldn't come up with anything. That meant that either this person hadn't been discovered or wasn't seen as a threat. Or, it truly was just her. Her heart began to race and she pleaded with it to calm down before her newly stitched wounds began to bleed...again.

She was afraid... or was that because of him? He stuck his thumb underneath his mask, and chewed on the tip. The instructors kept telling him he had nothing to fear from anyone at the school, even new people, so working up what little courage he had, he regained control, and the field dissipated, and he materialized in his corner, dark baggy clothes bunched up as he continued to hug his knees. Garnet eyes peered out from behind a plain skull mask. He was happy to remain silent, but the professor would want him to atleast say something.

"...sorry.... they never... tell me when... new people are coming..." he rasped dryly. The words felt strange as they came off his tongue. his apology felt forced, but given that he rarely spoke to anyone, let alone a very new person, it would have to suffice. Atleast when she had been in his field, her fear had not turned her into an angry person. Angry people got violent. He didnt want that.

Kali waited and then the itching stopped. Her eyes narrowed as her ears listened. Someone spoke.

She turned to the voice and saw someone wearing a smiling skull mask. She wondered about the face behind it. Masks bothered her but she supposed that some people felt safe behind them.

She shrugged and most of the feeling of being followed vanished with his appearance. "I'm Kali," she said. "Now that you know my name...I'm not so new," she smiled slightly and her eyes danced. Perhaps the mask even felt safe for her. It was the first time she even dared to smile in years.

Kali wasn't the peppy, cheerleader kind of girl. No, she was very rough around the edges but was only ever angry when provoked. She had a feeling that she would find herself in a lot of trouble at the school because she wasn't a girl who played by the rules. She had problems with authority. But for now, someone was around and she felt less lonely.

"Nice mask," she said, honestly, trying to compliment something and perhaps make less enemies.

She introduced herself. Craig glanced around the area, just to see if she was the only person. "...Craig..." He rasped. Not the most impressive or illustrious self introduction, but it was all he really felt was needed. When she mentioned the mask, he reached up and tapped his fingernail against the hard plastic, a solid thuk echoed off of it.

" Thank you...Xavier says I dont have to be afraid... but I cant help it. People scare me.... does that bother you...? he asked. Surely she had noticed that his self defense mechanism to hide from the things that scared him was to scare them in return. He began to rock back and forth on his feet, knees still hugged to his chest. It was yet another action brought on by his idleness.

Kali smiled, again, though small as it was. He gave his name, Craig. She felt relief when her mind didn't buzz with thousands of words and pictures. Information had not been found on him. Not for her. Curse her photographic memory, but it was pleasant when her mind was silent.

He tapped his mask and began to speak.

Kali thought his voice sounded raspy, somewhat unused. It didn't bother her though.

She shook her head when Craig asked if she was bothered by him. "No, Craig," she said. "People scare me too," she continued with honesty. She had no reason to lie. Humans scared the life out of her, that was why she fought them. That was why she ran. Even a few mutants scared her. Only the ones that she knew she wouldn't be able to wear out or defeat. Ones like Logan.

Craig began to rock and Kali wanted to go to him. She sensed his unease and chose to remain where she was. She took a seat, across the hall from him.

She pondered what to say next. Should she explain her fears of mankind? Was it universal among the mutants? She was of neither and both lives. She had never been human but she was created for destruction. Anyone who knew her would fear her. She knew the affects of fear, all too well.

She was the first person he had met here at the school, who had not been immediately uneasy around him. Either he was gaining better control, or she had seen nightmares of her own, that had stitched themselves into her mind. " Im...always afraid... so I hide..." he tapped the mask once more. She said that people scared her too. it felt good to know he wasnt alone. " The professor... he is a good man.... I may live in constant terror.... but the things he does.... for all of us.... I've never known a better man..." he nodded. " Even that man.... Logan?.... he respects the professor... and he doesnt respect anybody..." Craig laughed hoarsely.
"but you dont have to talk to me... most people dont want to... I scare them...afraid or no... you will be safe here... Ive been safe here for a long time... did you get that injury bandaged?.... I can smell the blood on you... Sorry... Im rambling." He coughed.

Kali nodded when Craig said that he hid because he is afraid. He tapped the mask again and she knew that the mask was his safety net. She sighed, to herself, when he mentioned the 'good professor'. Good or not, the professor made her angry. He invaded the privacy of her mind and she hated him for it. She hated authority, but that was beside the point.

"Charles is a good man, for many,"
she said, unsure if she believed the professor would be good for her. So far, he had given her name back to her but circumstances of her arrival made her feel more like a prisoner than a student. "I know Logan," she smirked as she remembered their fight. She lost, but she knew that she would. "He has lived enough life times to demand respect simply because of age."

She blinked away the pictures of Logan and his information from a file that had been given to her long ago. There was no way to defeat him.

"You don't scare me," Kali said, again, with full honesty. She was honest to a fault, there wasn't much that she lied about. "I kind of like talking to you. You have a good voice," she said and debated just how honest she should be, about herself. No...not that honest.

Kali touched her left side where she had been wounded. "Yes...it is taken care of," she said with a frown when she remembered the medical facility. "It is only a couple days old...when my heart beats fast, it can start to bleed but your Doctor McCoy seemed to know what he was doing."

Craig was afraid of people and though she wanted to know if anyone would react the same way that Han did, she didn't want to give Craig a reason to be afraid of her. She actually wanted to become friends with him. Especially if everyone else left him alone. He was the first person that she actually wanted to be around without fighting.

She wanted to know who made him afraid. She wanted to beat the living lights out of whoever did it. She knew that she could, but she wouldn't pry. First meetings were different in a school. All information that needed to be known would be, in time.

" Good...voice...I dont buy it..., but your opinion is yours..." he nodded. " I havent had much reason to go see.... the good doctor... but I've heard he's good..." Craig shrugged. He wasnt used to conversation, and this was by far the longest one he'd had in months. " Im sure you'll come to like it here.... it really isnt so bad... least we don't have to worry about being hunted here..... and the food... well.... the food is ok I guess..." He joked.

He had now held his position for a good long while, and his muscles were starting to burn, but he quashed the desire to move. Kali was an unusual occurrence, someone who not only did avoid him like he carried the plague, but who actually enjoyed talking to him, which he found odd, as he never had much to say in the first place.

" Like I said... you wont have to run here... unless you need the exercise... so take a load off, and get a little rest before you go taking off... I can see you've had a long road to get to where you are..." Craig shrugged.

Kali smiled, again, when Craig said he didn't believe her. "Well, your voice is kind. Something that I don't think I've witnessed often," Kali said with a nod. "I hope to like it here," she continued as she glanced up and down the hallway. The wooden walls seemed old but gave the hallway character. "It is much better than any place I have been."

She smirked at his slight jokes about the food and running only when needing the exercise. "How long have you been here," she asked. Her emerald eyes tried to study his. It had been a while since she sat so long, willingly. She imagined that someone who didn't prefer company might not sit for long either. "Would you like to walk with me," she asked. "I don't know where I'm going, but I don't really like to stay in one place for long."

Staying in one place meant that it was likely one would be found. Sitting, left you open for attacks from above, without much time to move or react.

Kali shoved the thoughts from her mind. Her training certainly wouldn't be leaving her any time soon. No thanks to the learned memory.

he thought about her question. He had arrived when he was nine, and he was.... what... Seventeen now? " eight.... eight years." he nodded his answer. When she asked if he wanted to walk with her, he saw no reason he couldnt, and simply nodded mutely before he rose to his full height, hands stuffed into the pockets of his jeans. He didnt question her desire to keep moving. He rolled his head, the joints in his neck cracking and popping, and said simply "... Lead on...". He could guide her wherever she wanted to go, but he didnt know where she wanted to go, so he simply awaited her decision.

Kali stood and faced the direction that she had been walking before she met Craig. She watched as he stood to his full height. He was much taller than she expected.

"Eight years," she repeated as she set one foot in front of the other. Her eyes constantly shifted, though there wasn't much to see. "That's a long time."

She tried to think of what she was doing, eight years ago. Ah, yes...she smirked. She had set fire to the first military lab that had tried to contain her firey spirit. It was soon after getting the mark...

"So, besides wandering the halls, what is there to do," she asked. She was used to sitting by herself and waiting for a mission or excessive training because she didn't follow the rules. Rules were made to be broken and their rules stole her freedom. At least, here, she had that.

Victor "Windbag" Taparc

Victor saw the building in the distance and looked around as he approached. His hood was drawn which was a bit out of the ordinary for him but he had recently relieved someone of their wallet so he could purchase a meal before getting to where he needed to go. Even though the person probably didn't see him or even know about the theft, he still felt the urge to hide in his only shelter. His clothes.

Cautiously he approached the front door and entered the building. He had heard that this place acted as some sort of school for his kind. People with abilities. Several others in the gutter who had similar problems as him had spoke of it. It was something he had to see for himself. Just to see if the rumors were true. Entering the halls from outside, he gave a nervous look around the building, figuring out every escape he could see before stepping in to see if he could see any signs of people, even though he really didn't want to. He took a deep breath and released it, causing a fair sized gust of wind to blow down the halls.
