The SwarmThe buzzing noise is almost painful. Hundreds of pairs of red eyes focus on you. Beedrill? In Mt. Ferros? The image would have been ridiculous, if you weren't facing down hundreds of them, all equipped with crystalline drills. The same blue light that brought you here radiates off of their bodies in an eerie glow. Stiff blue growths line their bodies in rough patches.
It doesn't help that Divya and Idan have been knocked unconscious, both guild leaders lying in a heap underneath piles of rubble. Looks like you won't have any help this time...This battle is open to everyone, regardless of whether or not you participated in the CYOA! ღ Every time you use a move or an item, you use a turn, and Beedrill will automatically damage you for 5 HP each turn. Take as many turns as you can before you're knocked out! Status effects do not work on Beedrill, but you may heal yourself for 10 HP if you can find a suitable move.
ღ YOU MAY USE ITEMS YOU COLLECTED FROM DUNGEONS. Oran Berries heal you for 10 HP, while Sticks and Rocks will always deal 10 damage without needing to roll. Once you use an item, it's gone, so choose carefully!

Fizzle hadn't expected a bunch of Beedrill of all Pokemon to be in the dungeon, and picking a fight to boot! Well, if they collectively thought they were going to get off easy, then they were collectively dead wrong! Especially since they had caused friends and travel companions to get hurt, it just wasn't going to happen!
The young Charmander didn't waste time getting to his feet, charging at the wild pokemon in an attempt to get them away from their unconscious leaders. While he was thankful he was a fire type, and had an advantage over them, the number of them made it a very daunting battle.
All the same, he would not back down when others were in danger. He didn't have to be part of the rescue guild to know that much!
"TAKE THIS YOU BUMS," He roared in an attempt to sound challenging. He used ember, knowing it was a super effective move.

The attack didn't seem to do much, but it was a start, at least. He took an attack from one of the beedrill, getting knocked back towards the others again.

Unknown to the group, they had an unexpected follower. Ridley the Riolu had spotted the large group of Pokemon and wanted to investigate what they were up to as they entered the volcano. Upon entering the blazing cave, he almost regretted it, but he composed himself enough to continue in his pursuit.
He caught up to the group just as the Beedrill emerged and made ready for the attack. His tail wagged excitedly before taking off and leaping from platform, to crumbling platform. "Hey Bees! You hurt other Pokemon, knock it off!" He announced as he launched himself at the nearest Beedrill, hoping to use Quick Attack

Like the Riolu that had been ahead of her from the start, another unexpected follower had been tagging along to see what was going on. It was kind of strange seeing a large group going into a volcano like that! And she'd been very curious to see why. So Nori had bounded along cheerfully after them all, acting for all the world as if she'd totally been with there the whole time, yes.
When she followed them to the sudden fury of Beedrill, Nori made a little fist with her paw and shook it at the larger pokemon. "Heeeeey! You guys had better learn ta pick on someone else!"
Without much time to stop and think, Nori's cheeks sparked and she launched a Thundershock attack at the Beedrill.

Fizzle was sure, after seeing everyone attack, that they were going to be there for quite some time. There were just so many beedrill, it was difficult to see if they would be able to make any kind of difference at all. But he wasn't the only one trying to protect the leaders, and these pokemon were ones he had even seen before.
He was thankful for their help.
"Let's show these bugs that they came to the wrong mountain!" huffed the charmander, sending another ember towards the enemy. Blowing on his tail might have looked casual, but he meant to deal as much damage as possible when attacking the wild threats.

Checking out the stairway seemed to be a bad idea, because almost as soon as Naka reached it, the whole volcano started to shake. Rocks started falling everywhere, and it was all the Charmander could do to keep from falling off the platform. He might be a Fire-type, but even he wouldn't be very comfortable if he fell into the lava! By the time the shaking had stopped, the stairway was completely blocked off and there was a strange buzzing sound. As he stood up and looked around, he found that Divya and Idan were knocked out, rocks and rubble were everywhere, and they were being attacked...by a swarm of Beedrill covered with blue crystal-like growths? Strange though that was, he didn't have time to wonder over it too much. Pokemon were in trouble and he had to help!
Naka ran as fast as he could over the broken platforms to be near the guild leaders. He positioned himself firmly between them and the swarm and fired off an Ember at the nearest Beedrill. He'd show them they picked on the wrong group!

Brynd was a little bit late to the action, and he was not certain how well he could fair against bugs, but he was not going to let the others do all the fighting without his help. He moved to join in, running on his stumpy legs and sliding next to the Charmander he saw. Why the Charmander? Because he was a fire type, and they were great against bugs. He seemed to be very enthusiastic about the battle as well, which was what Brynd needed.
It would get him into the right mindset. The Bulbasaur liked to battle and adventure, but sometimes he just needed a kick in the pants to get to it.
He watched as Fizzle used an Ember attack, then lowered his head and took a running tackle at the new enemy. Beedrill had no business getting so uppity!

Ridley was a bit disappointed with his last attack, but was soon over it. Now wasn't the time to criticize himself. Besides, there were tons of Beedrills and who could be sure just how powerful they were, especially individually.
The Riolu's tail wagged slightly, happy to see that there were members of the group still willing to fight. All the help was needed in order to dwindle this 'foe' down.
Pointing to a random Beedrill, he barked. "You're going down Bees!" With that, he braced himself for an attack and used Counter on one of the Beedrills.

the battle was going slowly, but that didn't keep Fizzle from fighting. Even if they had to chip into the beedrills one small hit at a time, he would keep fighting until his body could no longer take it.
And he knew the others would, too. It meant protecting the expedition leaders, along with any of the other pokemon who had been hurt with everything that had happened.
But he knew some of the pokemon weren't doing much damage at all. Thankfully, another fire type had joined in. That would help! "Let's keep it up everyone!" Fizzle yelped, rushing over to give Ridley a helping claw. He used another ember.

Naka spared a moment to grin at the other Charmander, but he didn't bother speaking. He'd rather save his breath for attacking at the moment, since there were a lot of Beedrills to fight, and unconscious pokemon to protect. He fired off another Ember that was coming too close, then looked around to see how everyone was doing. Some pokemon were fighting back, including a couple he hadn't noticed before, but others seemed to be in disarray still. He didn't immediately spot Jubilee, and hoped his teammate was alright. There would be time to look for the Togepi later, or at least he hoped so. Right now there was a swarm of pokemon to fight off, and he turned back to the task.

After retrieving the flower and handing it to the flareon, Zoë smiled softly, hoping she made the flareon feel better. Hearing other pokemon run after the blue light, Zoë followed their suit, so fixed on it she almost forgot to take heed of their terrain.
When the beedrill came, it was quite a shock. Zoë quickly flipped onto offense, focusing and using confusion, only to hit no one. She cursed under her breath, having let her guard down— only to get stung by one of them. Zoë was going to whoop some bug a** today, she was definitely not going down without a fight.

Okay, this was getting ridiculous, how was he supposed to help if he couldn't even hit the Beedrills?! But he was still as determined just like the other Pokemon around him.
If he were to give up now, that would be one less Pokemon dealing damage to the attackers and one less Pokemon to help protect the ones that were injured. When one needed protection, he was the one others were to come to, that couldn't happen if he quit.
When Fizzle came over and helped, he smiled and gave a nod in thanks. "We can beat these Bees!" He barked again, charging with Feint.

Jubilee was slightly intimidated by the beedrills for two reasons: their drills, and they first started out life as weedles. Jubilee wasn't really fond of weedles in the first place, and this encounter with the beedrills didn't really help. She held on to her flowers and stick tightly and started to wave her stick to keep the scary bug-types away.

Fizzle was happy to see that more of the pokemon showing up to help out in the fight. He hoped they would be able to fend off the beedrill. Suddenly, it was starting to feel like they might actually stand a chance, albeit a small one. Piece by piece, they were making the beedrill fall back.
While it wouldn't make any of them look like super powerhouses, it would at least ensure that no one ended up getting killed in the excursion. Whatever had to be done, right?
At least the Riolu he was fighting with seemed to think they had a chance. "Yeah!" hummed the charmander in return, before turning and attacking again.
