UPDATE.
Still in the boonies, still only have internet sometimes. I'm checking in now from my dad's house again, only to make sure the guild hasn't gone up in flames. By the end of next month I'll be in our new house and with real internet. I hope everyone's doing well, if anyone has any questions you can PM me here and I'll answer it as soon as I can.

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you guys know that after this afternoon I'll be without internet and for the most part unable to log on for a few days. Tomorrow is my last day in North Carolina and I'll be driving back to Indiana.

After I get there, and get settled for the time being at my mom's house I'll be back on. I'll check my messages from my phone so if you need anything please PM me. I apologize for not being around enough the last couple days. Our service here has been spotty because of local storms and outages.

Heeeeeeeeey! I just got back from Indiana!

St. Pete to Indiana round trip - 2,280 miles in three days. I have aching muscles I didn't even know existed!

And I did it without cruise control! gonk

Nighttime is my favorite time to drive long trips like this because there's no sun blinding you during important interstate junctions like in Atlanta, GA and the traffic is so light you can take the speed limits a little more suggestively and make some good time.

I learned a very important lesson during my trip: If the police set up a barricade that forces you off the interstate at 3am, and there are no "Detour" route signs set up showing you how to continue, and your GPS is of little to no help, and the exit you were forced on is in the middle of bum!@#$% nowhere that doesn't even have an open gas station, FOLLOW THE SEMI-TRUCKS!! pirate

Video of Meteor

So, little story about our drive home. Turns out we were actually headed into ohio when I posted about leaving West Virginia. At about 11:30 we were driving through southern ohio on a long stretch of road with no other cars around. Then (see the video above, we were MUCH closer than what they show) the whole sky lights up green and that thing went streaking through the sky. My husband slams on the breaks, anticipating something and joking I tell him it must be aliens. Both of us are terrified at this point, fatigued from driving, and I decide to flip through the AM radio stations to see if something is being broadcast. Emergency road stuff, or whatever.

So here we are, middle of the night and alone on the road and as I'm flipping through the stations we hit one that's just dial up noise. Then all of a sudden it's all overlapping voices, some woman repeating "Make sure you have dialed the correct number" over and over and over. Music from the 30's, people screaming, news broadcasts. By now we are dead silent and FREAKING OUT. Two minutes of this goes by and then it just stops and a guy starts talking. "So I'm sure you guys are wondering why our station is playing all these weird noises tonight..."

Talk about crazy timing. But we made it back to Indiana at 5:30am and everything is good. I'll be busy with a lot of stuff over the next week but I'll be stopping in at least once a day.
