Fuzen Academy isn't a closed campus school, like Amaterasu, where the buildings and campus areas are closed off to viewing eyes, and the only way to actually see the campus is to go inside. Instead, Fuzen is an open campus school, where the buildings and such are visible to everyone.
This is kind of the "front" of the academy, as well as the courtyard. It is in front of all the main buildings and also it is an open, large area filled with trees and benches and such. This area is also considered as a park, since the city doesn't not have one. There are sidewalks and grass and trees and bushes and benches for people.
