You will find many comfortable living spaces, open or more intimate, some not having been used in years but still kept in good condition from the previous staff. Each are open to use such as the four examples below of the homely living spaces decked in rustic design.
You do not have to worry about where you wish to dine for there are many choices for you to choose from. The first selection is just attached to the living area and for less formal occasions. The second is attached to the kitchen and other living area and is suited for more formal occasions when guests come to visit. Its welcoming atmosphere does not deter use at any other time, however.
Moving on, you will find other rooms of various uses such as the kitchen - the only kitchen on the residence - and one of the small libraries of similar design that could be found in two other locations.
The master bedroom is a warm, comfortable place with a view of the surrounding mountains. Just attached is a private master bathroom, both suited solely for a single person as best fitting the previous master of the house.
You do not need to fear not being accommodated for there are many rooms open for guests. Each is has its own attached, private bathroom with shower or tub and a porch opening out to a balcony for your comfort. All doors have locks and are utterly private.
Many bathrooms are scattered about the manor and several have showers but a majority have a simple toilet and sink for your day- to-day needs. Showers and baths can be taken at your private room or one of the open shower houses for pool uses.
One such location is the shower room just off the outdoor pool. You can see two views below of it's open and safe setup. Because of its public setup, it is requested you bathe in your suit. With a shower for washing off the pool water, you can then go inside to the hall. One side of the hall has sinks and a mirror for your convenience. Towels are always available for the pool and showers. The opposite side are the closed showers, four in total. You can see at the far end the exit that leads to the porch where the other shower is located.
Pools were always a luxury must for the previous Jasiek owners and there are several on the residence. A private hot tub for relaxing and intimate occasions is desired as well as a small pool in the basement. There is also a large covered pool and a luxury outdoor pool that hangs over the mountain side. Perfect for the evening when the sun sets in this direction.

xxxHe hadn't been offended by her spacing off, how splendid. Abdiel just took it in his stride, and accepted the fact she'd had a 'moment'. With a few steps he was by her side, and Eirawen found herself smiling widely at the show of affection. As strange as his actions were, she rather liked that he used touch accompanied with words to convey his feelings; he accepted her apology and touched the back of his hand to her cheek, it was very comforting since to Eira, it felt like he meant what he said compared to just accepting it with no feeling. Nodding at his statement - the walk home during twilight would be a beautiful one - she looked to his offered hand. Taking it with a soft smile, his fingers curling around hers, again she nodded at his second suggestion and let him take the lead. They wouldn't return by nightfall, but since she was used to the cold that didn't bother Eira. Not to mention that Abdiel didn't seem worried about the darkness that would fall, so if he wasn't bothered, then she wasn't bothered. Canting her head to the side when he mentioned that she'd rather enjoy exploring the home he inherited and they could always come back to the gardens another day, the woman's eyes shone with interest quickly. "Yes, we can return here any time. I would much rather explore the place I am to call home." With a spring in her step, Eirawen let Abiel lead her home.
xxxThe quiet that fell upon them during the walk was quite pleasant. The ice maiden didn't mind, in fact, she rather enjoyed being able to just walk. Being out of that place was blissful enough, and being able to enjoy a proper sunset in the flesh instead of watching it behind glass windows was just icing on the cake. The occasional humming that came from Abdiel was enough to break the silence, and it was rather relaxing. The umbrella that covered the woman in a soft shadow was fast becoming useless, but Eirawen kept it up regardless - she didn't really feel like letting the pretty white thing drag along the ground. It wasn't right. What was even nicer was the fact that he stopped for a rest every so often. Eira knew why he was doing it, and while she didn't need to physically rest just yet, she took the time to take in the changing scenery and adjust her body temperature. Now that the sun was going down, it was getting easier to stay cool, and the frost-covered ends of her hair was a dead giveaway at just how comfortable the woman was. Thankfully the frost hadn't extended to her hands; Eirawen didn't really want to accidentally subject the lovely, kind man to frostbite.
xxxWhen it finally got dark, Eirawen began to wonder what they would do now. She wasn't able to refract any light to show the way, and she was pretty sure Abdiel didn't have a torch (unless he was hiding it under his long hair). When her hand was released, she nodded with a small sound of understanding and stood patiently by his side while he got ready. What the woman wasn't expecting was for the lack of light situation to be solved on the spot. Watching him raise his hand was initially odd and confusing, especially since it was above his head, but as light began to form Eirawen understood. This was why he wasn't worried about being in the dark earlier. The light that formed was small at first, but it soon grew to be a decent orb and it lit up the area a good few feet. Watching Abdiel with an awed smile, she noticed the man's features were more striking in the light, and pondered if her own were that pronounced now too. Orb slowly lowered to his waist height, the maiden took a moment to appreciate the way the light reflected off the leaves around them - they look like she'd dusted them with frost. It was beautiful. Smiling up at the man, again, all she could do was nod to show she agreed. There was no need for words right now, especially now they were cast in the comforting glow; it was an oddly warming feeling for something that was giving off no heat whatsoever.
xxxMuch to Eirawen's delight, they reached the mountains in no time whatsoever with the light orb. Walking the winding roads as they ascended, Eira could feel her joy start to grow. As the air became cooler and crisper, the ice maiden seemed to gain more energy, her steps more eager they closer to the top they got. A frost began to follow them; at first it was along the ground, but it soon began to stretch out to every spot the light touched - leaves, branches, the ground they walked upon. It was quite strange, since aside from the naturally cooling air the higher up they went, it wasn't cold around Eirawen. Even if her eyelashes were dusted with frost as well.
xxxGetting to the point of wondering just how much farther they had to go, Abdiel stopped and it surprised Eirawen. Backtracking a few steps to remain by his side, she canted an eyebrow. Were they home? She couldn't see anything past the light they were doused in, but when the orb was dispersed everything started to become clear. The stars lit up the open range and showed the peaks, the road and the outline of a very large house. Was that... Really all his? "A bit excessive, isn't it?" Staring at the house, Eira didn't know what to say, so all she did was listen when Abdiel said they would go inside so they could rest, and if she wanted to shower and change. Nodding, the woman just followed, unsure of what really to say. Waking up would be amazing though; the view would be spectacular, not to mention everything looked much more spectacular in natural light compared to artificial. Maybe there would even be snow on the peaks above them she could see. That would be perfect. Following the man up the path to the front door, she took a moment to quell her excitement before she began to freeze everything she touched without meaning to, and took a deep breath in and out before entering. Frost trail left on the doorstep, Eirawen took her first steps into the place she'd learn to call home. It was so large, and so open. Exploring in the morning was definitely going to happen.
xxxSuitcase wheels quietly rolling over the wooden floors of Abdiel's inherited house, it was a quick gloss over of the rooms they were passing through on the way to the guest rooms. The ones she got to see were stunning; they were rustic in design but very beautiful. The high ceilings made everything seem incredibly spacious and open, something that made Eira feel much more comfortable. It gave her a bigger sense of freedom, especially with the collar removed. Reaching the guest rooms, Eira peaked into each one, before settling on one that was rather off-white and looked a little more rustic than the others. Plus it had a little balcony all for herself which was something that appealed to her greatly. "I like this room best. It's much more open than the other one." Considering she had spent her entire life outdoors before being captured and turned into a slave, it wasn't any huge surprise that the woman liked somewhere that had quite a fair amount of space; it was almost poetry in motion that Abdiel's inherited house happened to be huge. Spying her suitcase, she took it carefully from him with a cheery grin. "I should be able to find my way back to you; I'm going to shower and change, just like you suggested. Let me know where you'll be and I'll find you." Getting the information she wanted, Abdiel left her to unpack and clean up.
xxxIt took Eirawen a good five minutes to get over the awed state she was in. The house was beautiful, her room was beautiful, she was sure the view in the morning was going to be beautiful. It was so fantastic! Putting away her small amount of clothing - it was mostly dresses and skirts that hadn't taken up much packing space - she grabbed a change of clothes (nothing overly fancy) and went to her bathroom. It felt odd to even think that, and it made her shiver in joy, but it was true. While it was Abdiel's home, this was still a bathroom she could call her own because no-one else would use it but her. Wasting Spending another five minutes simply hopping in the bathroom with joy, she eventually got around to having a quick shower, using the pilfered bath items from the hotel. There was a sick sense of pride in using the liberated Hotel items in her new home, and it made her chuckle just a little bit. Washed, dried, hair braided in a fishtail style to hang over her shoulder, Eirawen felt quite at peace. While it was only early days and she didn't want to get too hopeful just yet, the woman was quite positive that Abdiel wasn't going to do anything to jeopardise her well-being, so after hovering nervously at her door for a few moments, she switched off the light and made her way to find Abdiel.
xxxHe said he'd be in the kitchen - she'd admitted when they got inside that she'd been a little hungry, but mostly thirsty. Not quite sure if Abdiel had any plans to make anything to eat or if he was going to wait to see what she liked, the prospect of a drink was enough to make the Ice Maiden hurry just a little more to find the kitchen. It wasn't overly hard to get back there (thank you wide open house) but there was a moment where the woman had to stop and think about where she was. Poking her head around the corner to look into the kitchen, she stepped out around the corner with a grin. "I can't believe how amazing this place is." She breathed, clearly still starstruck by the inherited home. "I can't wait to see it in the morning."

Seeing her own energy and thrill of the environment around them was just as invigorating for the angel. He did not mind the temperature either way be it cold or hot. It affected him, of course, but he adapted well to circumstance. He was more used to the warmth, however, but the cool air was refreshing. To him, there was a vast difference between being burning hot and being scalded. There were different types of heat, after all, as there were different types of chill. He could not help but enjoy this temperature as it began to drop because his companion was like flower breaking through the winter ice and opening its petals to the sky during the spring. She was regaining strength and that was relieving. Not that she had been anything less than chipper before, this was definitely her element. He wanted, now, to see her in the snow. There was just something so lovely about it. Happiness. That child-like thrill and joy of life that didn't need to be pleased but simply reveled in what there was. He knew he had made the right choice. She was just so innocently happy he couldn't help but feel just as at ease. Hopefully the children would think so too.
Oh, not to mention he wanted to see her reaction to their new home. Size didn't deter him but this was excessive mainly because it was useless in size. There was no point to it except to make a show and take care of the hunger for wealth and power of the ones who came before him. It was a bit silly, really. Meaning he was a bit embarrassed to see how she would react. So, after speaking, he waited patiently for her to take it all in and react to the situation. Seeing as she had lived a fairly humble existence prior to this, he expected it to be a bit overwhelming. Seeing as she simply stared at it at first he figured his assumptions were correct. Actually, she didn't say anything at all. His lips curled into a grin and he began to laugh softly. He didn't say anything himself because there wasn't much to say. Well, actually, there was, but it didn't seem reasonable because of her own silence. He would let her take it all in without bothering her. It was all a bit much after all.
He pointed out a few things as they passed them. He also had to point out that a place like this could house an army and would need an army to take care of it. So, when it came to cleaning, he made it clear he only cleaned the rooms he had actually used or were planning to use. Otherwise, it would be a useless cycle of trying to keep the place clean. The hardest thing was the dust and that was an endless fight. He also said it would be helpful if she helped him with the cleaning. At least up after herself.
"You can certainly have it."He pointed towards the window."You've got yourself a good view of the mountains too. If you are the early bird you'll get to see the sunrise. The patio, though, is the best place for the sunset."He paused then frowned slightly while he scratched the back of his head."Well, one of the patios, actually. You know, I think everyone who owned this place had to make their own personal hideout without infringing on what the previous owners made. We could probably both live here and never see each other. Not that I want that. We may need to use cellphones just to talk to each other."He laughed then nodded his heads about her words of being able to find him after she took a shower and changed. He placed his hand on his hip before searching his pocket."That's fine. You can explore all you want before dinner. Just don't get lost. Here's a key to the house. It pretty much opens everything. Don't lose it, yeah?"He put it in her palm. He had one of his own and he trusted her with it.
He did not know how long she would take and he didn't like bathing before he was actually ready to go to bed. Meaning he had some time on his hands. They hadn't eaten anything and it had been a long walk so it would be rude of him to not have any food on the table. Oh, he certainly had food and plenty of it. If anything, shopping trips were immensely exciting and he got in a bit over his head. He had the money to pay for it at least. But what would he make with all the yummy ingredients he had bought? He didn't know because he mostly bought them because either they looked pretty, smelled good, or he saw someone else buying a lot of them. There weren't any junk varieties of food because they didn't look appetizing to him in their bright colored packages. He liked the food he could actually pick up and hold though a few he couldn't like the bread. But it had been so nice and fresh and warm! Alright, that wasn't fully true because the noodles were fun in their boxes some cans with pictures of yummy recipes tricking him into thinking that was what was actually in the can and the like. If he could actually make something with the food he had bought was questionable. He didn't even really know how to cook. Okay, not at all. He could read directions, though.
In a spurt of genius, he was rummaging through the pantries and fridge while grabbing things out to throw on the counter. He also pulled out a pot, filled it up with water and put it on the stove. He was humming contently to himself.
When she eventually showed up talking about how amazing the place was, he was about ready to cry. He looked at her with the most terribly disastrous face with tears brimming in his eyes."Eira, its burning!"he cried ringing his hands and pacing back and forth in obvious distress."What do I do? What do I do?"It was all very sad, really. The pot was on the stove with water about half full with several pieces of unknown vegetables and probably bread floating in soggy lumps around spaghetti noodles that were standing upright. He obviously had no idea how they were supposed to work in the water since they didn't fit in the pan. Their bottoms were flimsy but in the little pan they were still upright with their tops dry... and on fire. How he managed that was a complete mystery but they were flaming and smoking while his brew was bubbling in the water and disintegrating further into a collective mush. The stove was on full heat and he looked utterly terrified.

xxxToo dumbfounded by the beauty of the house and the sheer splendor of it, Eirawen had somehow managed to completely miss the chaos brewing in the kitchen until Abdiel spoke. Blinking, wondering why he was asking for help, the smell of burning made her nose twitch. Turning her gaze to the stove top, Eira just stared. She wasn't much better at cooking, if she was to be brutally honest, than Abdiel was, but she could make basic things like soups, simple pasta dishes like spaghetti bolognese, savory rice meals and... Grilled sandwiches. Anything else and Eira had to consult a cookbook or have someone instruct her through the process. Roast dinners were in many cookbooks she found, and they had easy to follow instructions. Most of the time anyway. But whatever Abdiel was attempting, none of the ingredients seemed to point to any kind of one recipe! Walking slowly to the stove, Eira turned it off completely. "We start again, that's what we do. If at first you don't succeed, try again!" Smiling at the close-to-tears male, she gently patted his chest. "Don't fret Abdiel, dear. This is why you have me! We can learn new things together." And with that, she begun the clean-up process. Asking Abdiel to follow her instructions, Eirawen cleaned up the concoction in the pot, the burning pasta (how that happened was beyond her) and threw away all other pieces that couldn't be used.
xxxWhat came next was the fun part. Cooking a meal together.
xxxAsking Abdiel to clean the pot he'd used, Eira prodded around the kitchen. Abdiel had bought some lovely ingredients, all healthy food that you could see and hold. Finding some hearty vegetables - carrots, potato, celery - she found (surprisingly) some pre-made stock. It looked appealing with the image of the roast chicken on the front, so she picked it up; fortunately for the two, Eirawen actually knew what stock was and how it should be used. There was some chicken breast in the freezer, and some garden peas and corn on the cob in the fridge. The rest of the uncooked, un-singed spaghetti noodles would come in handy too. Grinning at Abdiel and looking very proud, Eira began her teaching. First, was how to defrost meat in the microwave safely. She'd only used a microwave once, a past Master had a chef kind enough to show her how the light up box worked, but Eira remembered. Plus they all seemed to have little guides on them, you just had to find them! Pointing out the little menu instructions - defrost, re-heat, cook - the rest was pretty easy. Pressing the right buttons, finding a microwave safe plate to place the meat on, it would take about ten minutes for the chicken to defrost enough to be workable, so on to the next lesson! How to make soup.
xxx"Soup is easy. Especially with the handy packets you bought! Pre-made stock is so handy, and it's quite tasty. All you do is pour it into a pot, and heat it up! I quite like the boxes the liquid comes in, they always have tasty looking images on them. So! While the stock heats, we cut up vegetables." Showing Abdiel how to pour the stock into a pot without getting the liquid everywhere (a mistake Eira had made quite a number of times), and the safe level of heat the stove should be on - "Not too high but not too low! Generally just over halfway is good." - and it was time to cut the vegetables. It was exciting to share Abdiel's enthusiasm, and peeling a few potatoes together (peelers were something Eira had struggled with once upon a time), they moved onto peeling the carrots, and then how to cut them. The potatoes needed to be cut smaller than the others so they'd all cook in time, but the carrots were cut into disks, and the celery into half moons. It was quite fun to share her knowledge with someone, even if her knowledge was limited in some areas, it was still fun nonetheless. Soup was also very good and very comforting, and it was her favourite thing to offer up to someone who seemed distressed, sick or just needed perking up. After the mess Abdiel had gotten himself into, soup seemed like the perfect option. Vegetables chopped up, the time it had taken to prepare everything had been long enough that the microwave had dinged some moments ago. Vegetables gently put into the now hot stock, it was time to prepare the chicken.
xxx"We're going to roast the chicken in the oven. Roasting is fun, but it can be tricky. If the oven is too hot, the meat will burn. Too low and it will take forever to cook and come out funny." Fetching the chicken, she brought it over to the chopping board they'd used for the vegetables. "After cutting up the chicken, we'll have to wash the board and knife since I need to use them again. Don't want us getting sick!" Again, Eira was speaking from experience after the first time she'd been introduced to chicken. No-one had gotten sick, thankfully, but the cook of a different master had become very angry when Eira 'so carelessly cut up raw chicken on a board she was using for vegetables'. The cook was quite formidable for a small old lady, so Eirawen didn't dare make the same mistake. Chewing the inside of her lip, Eira carefully sliced the chicken breast fillets so they opened up like a butterflies wings. "It's called 'butterflying'. It means the meat will cook quicker. I think. It sounds right, anyway." Getting an oven tray, the oven was turned on - not too high again - and they waited a moment for the oven to come up to temperature - it wasn't long, the modern ovens were very efficient in Eira's eyes. Chicken placed on an oven tray, it was placed in for fifteen minutes; they'd check it at that time and see if it was done. Washing her hands, Eira picked up the pasta strands and broke them up into small pieces. "I like soup with noodles. Small pieces means fast cooking. Long spaghetti is good too, but not in soup. It splashes the liquid everywhere because people have to slurp the long strands while eating." Chuckling, she stirred the stock, and went about the last task; showing Abdiel how to carefully separate the corn kernels from the cob. It was pretty easy, but it could be rather unsafe if you didn't know what to do.
xxxWithin half an hour, the soup was ready. Eira had put the corn kernels and peas into the soup in the last few minutes, and had shredded up the roasted chicken breast and placed in the bottom of the bowls Abdiel had gotten her. Ladeling the soup into the bowls, Eira felt very proud of herself. "I really like soup. Odd, coming from someone with an affinity to cold, I know. But I can appreciate warmth too. I quite like warm foods, just because they make me feel nice inside. Ice cream will still always be my favourite food though. And jello!" Chuckling as she handed Abdiel his portion, the woman didn't feel too guilty for taking over. She had been bought for a reason, and if that meant she would take over certain duties then so be it. Not to mention the more she did, the more Abdiel would learn, which would mean he would be able to do much more in the future for himself - like cooking. Even if Eirawen did enjoy cooking so very much.

"Noodles go limp because they are hot, right?"he grumbled, trying to defend himself."Not all the noodles fit in the water so I thought I should warm up the tips. They just turned black and burned up the noodles."Either he was wrong or he had been going about it wrong. Though, she had patted his chest to show that everything was just fine and that they would take care of things together. She was such a good person. He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. But she was beginning to clean up so he followed suit. He could at least help clean up. He trusted that she knew what she was doing even if he did not. Besides, she asked if he would follow her directions and those directions were probably muc more reliable. And wouldn't end in noodle burning.
But it was such a waste! Throwing away all that good food. Some of it was saved, though. His food choices hadn't been that great. At least not what he mixed together. Oh well, what he had thrown together did not look all that appetizing anyway.
Turning on the water, the angel let it get hot before adding dish soap. When bubbles formed, he grinned in triumph. Scrubbing the food off then rubbing it down was easy. Soap made bubbles and hot water was best. He had learned that. And this soap said it was for dishes so he got this one. Some things were easy. Others, like cooking, were not. He also decided to wash the spatula he had tried to stir his soup with. It had some soggy bread on it so it would be best to get that cleaned up. Even if they didn't use it, he could still put it away back where he had found it. The towel was soft to the touch and dried the water off the dishes easily. He studied the designs on the fuzzy fabric before he noticed her turn towards him from the corner of his eyes. He looked up quickly to see her proud grin. He blinked. Was she proud of herself or him? He glanced at what she had gathered. Probably herself though she could be happy with his food choices. He shrugged his shoulders and dropped the towel back on the drying rack. Picking up the pot, he put it on the stove. She was going to use it right? If not, he'd put it away.
He followed after her to the microwave where the buttons were pointed out to him. He nodded his head. That was pretty easy to figure out. This was where they cooked things fast, right? Like, if you didn't have enough time in the oven or stove and you put big things in the oven that didn't fit in the microwave. He wasn't entirely sure when to use the microwave and when to use the oven. She had taken a plate to put the chicken on then put it into the microwave. Oh, did you cook your food in here first and then in the oven? His eyes grew curious. But now she was talking about soup so he didn't ask just yet.
"It looked good so I picked it,"he pointed out. He clasped his hands behind his back and leaned forward a bit to watch her dump the yellow-brown broth into the pot. It smelled very good. She made it look really easy. He certainly hoped it was easy but her pointers were helpful. Even if they seemed a bit insignificant at first. Now, this time, he cut in to ask a question.
"Why do you not want it too high or too low?"he asked as he stared at the broth."Won't it being higher make it cook faster? You don't have to wait for so long for it to warm up."He couldn't think of a reason why she would want the heat lower if you wanted to warm it up. In the microwave it was all one temperature, right? The only thing he could think of was that she needed more time to do everything else so she wanted it to warm up slowly. That was probably pretty reasonable. Then again, what if there was another reason why she wanted the soup a bit warmer? Did it cook the vegetables like how in the oven? His eyes widened. Oh, that was very possible. He waited expectantly. Oh! But the vegetables were next!
Each vegetable was cut a bit differently so he made sure to remember each way she cut the vegetable. The potatoes and carrots were peeled and the celery wasn't. She didn't cut up any other vegetable. The stock was warm now and she put the vegetables in. His food choices hadn't done so well in the water but these in the stock looked very nice. She was headed to the microwave so he picked up the spatula and stirred it around in the pan just in case. That seemed like the right thing to do and it couldn't hurt as long as he didn't spill it! He wasn't the clumsy type after all. She was talking to him so he looked up but did not stop mixing the broth and vegetables. He nodded his head in understanding when she said they had to wash those dishes so they wouldn't get sick. How she cut up the chicken was a bit surprising. She said they were roasting it, after all, but she didn't even cut it up. She just sliced it open. She would explain that soon, though. "Butterflying". Well, he guessed it looked like a butterfly. And now about the noodles.
"Yes, but that is part of the fun. Eating isn't fun unless you make a mess out of it."He gave her a grin. He pulled the spatula out, tapped it lightly against the pot, then set it down on the counter next to it. He walked over to where she was and watched her begin removing the kernels from the corn. That didn't look too hard but it took him a bit to get a hang of it. This was a job he could do without much worry of ruining it. She warned him it could be unsafe but luckily all injuries were averted and nothing went wrong. So when the soup was ready, he looked at it with excitement."Real human food,"he said in a thrilled voice."One thing to know what it is and another to really understand it. Very good..."It was important to him, really, to understand human hunger. Some people realized how important it was and others did not. Whether you could afford food or not.
"I'd love to try jello sometime. Ice cream too."He picked his bowl and looked around for a moment."Where do you want to eat? There is one of the dining rooms or the back patio... Well, there are a lot of places to eat. Since you have yet to really explore this place, why don't you choose? Oh... and we should get something to drink..."He set his bowl down, he went to one of the drawers and pulled out two spoons. He handed her one and put the other one in his bowl. Then he grabbed two glasses from the cabinet and opened the fridge."What do you want to drink?"

xxxOh he was such a sweetie. Abdiel was a good learner and was very keen to help out. Eirawen knew it would be a long road ahead in teaching the curious male, cooking wasn't something you could pick up in one go, but things like pasta, rice and simple breakfast items could be repeated over and over easily enough. Spacing out just a moment, thinking about what she could teach Abdiel, she nearly missed the question he asked. A drink? "Hmm, I can guarantee you won't have any ice wine.. So, if you have any kind of fruit juice that would be fine." Ice wine was a particular favourie of the maiden's; a sweet wine that was made from grapes harvested in the middle of winter. The stuff was quite pricey these days, and she'd yet to meet a Master that had heard of the rare wine, let alone found it appealing - most males preferred bourbon or whiskey it seemed.
xxxDrinks poured, spoon in hand, Eira headed for the dining table, quite excited to sit down and eat with another person again. While she had gone years before becoming a slave eating alone, there was something about sharing a dinner with someone that just made the whole experience that much more joyful. Sitting quietly for a moment, unsure if Abdiel was someone who said any kind of grace at a meal. Eirawen herself didn't do such a thing - she was thankful everyday for what she had - but she was lost in thought for a good moment. She couldn't remember the last time she'd sat with a person that was genuinely about to enjoy her company. She couldn't really recall the last time she was brought home for an actual purpose and not just to look pretty. Keeping the happiness inside, eyes shutting for a moment to let the joy wash over her. Smiling at the male when she realised she had been sitting there for a long moment in silence, Eira began to eat the soup she had made.
xxxFor a quick meal, with ingredients she had pulled without planning, it tasted good. Slightly salty, the corn kernels added sweetness in the clear broth, the chicken pieces and pasta noodles floating in the brown coloured liquid. The more she ate, the more Eira began to think of new meals to make: roast beef with yorkshire pudding, omelettes for breakfast, salads for lunch and everything in between. The woman really seemed to light up when she began to talk about making biscuits. It was becoming rather obvious that the woman really enjoyed "house wife" style cooking - things to make while the husband was at work, and cookies, cakes and scones fell into that category. "I promised I'd teach you how to make scones, so we'll have a baking day. I'll go through the kitchen in the morning and see what you have." Giving a warm smile, the rest of the meal was finished off in comfortable silence and Eirawen offered to clear the table. Help was offered and accepted - Eira knew the kind hearted male wouldn't want to let her clean alone - and between the two they had the dinner dishes cleaned in no time. Leftover soup was put into tupperware containers to keep for lunches when cooking wasn't on the agenda. When all was clean and tidy, Eirawen slowly wandered out of the kitchen and looked out the majestic window in the dining room. Leaning against the window frame, she stared out into the night, eyes trying to find star constellations she might recognise.
xxx"Is there anything you do at night? Like, sitting down to read or... Anything? Because if there's something you do don't let my presence change that. I am more than capable of entertaining myself." Frankly, the ice maiden didn't know if Abdiel had come to join her or was even within ear shot, but it was polite to ask the home owner these sorts of things, or so she believed. While she was simply just a slave (even with her collar removed), she knew her presence in his home must be a little strange. Touching the window gently with her fingertips, the cool glass felt good under her touch, the smallest brushes of frost circling each fingertip pressed to the smooth surface. The urge to create beautiful snowflakes and delicate icicles that looked like glass was pretty overwhelming, but the woman knew of a little thing called 'control'. Turning Abdiel's house into an ice palace was something the woman wasn't about to do anytime soon, and settled for releasing her pent up urges on the balcony of her room. The ice would melt by morning, but it would get rid of the pent up energy inside her. Dancing a finger across the glass, a small trail of frost followed her finger before melting away into nothing but tiny water droplets.

Abdiel sat in his own seat and slid his bowl to a comfortable distance from the edge of the table. For a moment he was still before he tilted his head back and his eyes lazily gazed at the ceiling. She was also quiet but he wasn't really aware of the fact she was waiting patiently for him. Though, he eventually smiled faintly, able to feel that presence in the room. It was warm and comforting. Familiar. He tilted his head down and looked at her briefly.
"It is strange how we see things, you know? We can understand something but we do not really feel its presence unless we have something to see, hold, or hear that gives us something physical to understand. To look up as if that is where heaven dwells when it has always been here. I guess it is because the spirit feels the spirit but the flesh feels the flesh."He laughed, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he did so."I have never said grace with anyone before a meal but I can understand now why they do it."He nodded his head towards her."Most people voice their's, though."He couldn't read minds or anything, but he said it very matter-of-factly. He dipped his head and began to eat."Food brings hearts together, hm? Maybe because it has to go past your heart before it reaches your stomach."The last part was said more seriously as if he had actually determined that to be the reason for why food did what it did as he said it had. But he had gone back to eating and did not say a word after that. He was enjoying the food he was eating, a slight smile on his lips.
He did, though, lift his head when she began to speak about food. His spoon was to his mouth and resting against his lower lip."We'll probably need more food, then,"he remarked as he pulled the spoon back and let it wave in around in front of his face."It is very good, and all, but I think cooking needs the right ingredients."Abdiel made a face spoon dipped into the soup. Clever tricks. Hopefully he'd pick them up. One: make sure you put in the ingredients correctly or they won't cook right. Two: make sure you use the right ingredients. Three: figure out what that was. He tapped a noodle, making it bob. Oh, and hot water made hard noodles squishy and edible, but just heat made them flame like a torch. Why did things have to be so difficult?
"I think I'd like that. As long as you are in charge of everything and do not give me too much responsibility."He smiled.
Dishes were easier to do and much more straight forward. Scrape off the food, rinse in hot water, soap, rinse in hot water, dry. The same for every pan and nothing different about any of the steps. It was very nice and he dove into the task with gusto. There weren't many things to wash but he did so as he hummed softly to himself with her help.
Abdiel had been within earshot when she had spoken and had been in the room near to her, in fact. He stood near behind her as she spoke, eyes following the designs she made in the glass by control of her icy power. So intent on her task was she that she had not even realized that he was in the same room as she and stood near enough that he could also see the tiny wonderland of ice she was creating on the glass of the window. He did not break her trance as her ice turned to water and dripped sluggishly downwards. His eyes followed for awhile longer before they focused on the sky beyond and what was happening on the glass blurred into gray. The stars had begun to sparkle in the darkening sky without light pollution to hide behind. Though so different, it also looked so much like the crystals of ice that formed and then vanished under her touch. His gaze was thoughtful but distant."They feel cold and distant, don't they?"he said suddenly, revealing his presence so near to her. If he had stretched out his arm, he could grip her shoulder or touch the glass in front of her. But he wasn't watching her anymore."They burn with heat far more intense than the star in this sky but are so far away, no heat will ever reach this place. All they give is a distant light, a memory, to show they are there. So aloof and distant from this place. But, even so, they don't need to give warmth for us to know they are there. They are always present even when we cannot see and looking down from their distant home even if they are long dead. Only now does their light touch us from a long time ago."He turned his head towards her, eyes at last focusing on her. He had a crooked little smile on his lips."When it snows, you know it is cold outside and that life is slumbering. Covers the world in a heavy blanket but is so quiet the world feels like it is standing still. Though the snow is cold, it makes me feel warm. You hear the most in the quiet, you know. When something demands our attention, we do not see it. But it sits waiting for us to notice. When we are quiet and listen."
Abdiel sat down on the floor in front of the window with his legs crossed and elbows resting on his needs. His head came to rest on his hands. His eyes were curious."The heat of summer actually makes you warm but when it snows, then you are truly warm. The stars don't give us light to see or warmth to live but they are still important, don't you think?"He glanced up at her briefly then down again. His brows pulled together some, lips curling down into a frown. But he smiled again."I don't know but ice inside the house makes me cold but ice outside the house makes me feel cozy."He lifted one finger without moving his hand from his face. He also was not looking at her."So I think that's alright. But what were you saying? But at night I usually sleep which I think is a normal thing to do."With a rock and a groan he was on his feet and stretching his arms over his head. His hand lowered, patted her head lightly as he passed and made his way up the stairs."I will see you in the morning? Have a good night. If you need anything, I will be in my room."With a parting smile, he inclined his head to her."God bless you as you sleep."Then he left.
Abdiel awoke the next morning with snow falling gently outside. It had snowed about two inches that night up in the mountains and was still piling up outside. They were big flakes the danced around in the air merrily, causing him to stop and watch them at the window for some time. He, however, ended up taking a warm bath then changing his clothes for the day. It would probably still snow for awhile anyway. He tugged his pants into place with a thoughtful expression. He wondered what she was up to. The clock revealed that it was nine o'clock.

xxxThere was something about the way that Abdiel spoke that resonated with Eirawen. His talk of stars, and how even though they appeared to be cold and distant, they didn't need to be warm for people to know they were there. Admittedly his voice in the same vicinity as her had surprised her, but it hadn't shown. There was something about the male that Eira could identify with, whether it was the mere fact they were "new" to this kind of lifestyle, or if it was the deep thinking nature they shared. Regardless, it was comfortable to have him just appear, and even voice a rather deep but meaningful thought. Turning her gaze at the same time that Abdiel did, the crooked smile on his lips was infectious, and her own lips turned up in a smile that reached the corners of his eyes. Every word he seemed to speak held meaning, and didn't seem to be randomly thought of. Having someone else talk about snow and it how it made them feel, the woman did feel a slight tensing in the pit of her stomach; everyone had vast thoughts about the snow and ice she created and weaved, and not a lot of people liked it as much as she did. But Abdiel, he seemed to find the meaning within the whiteness that dusted parts of the world in the colder months. It was like he understood a deeper meaning to her life, to her craft, than she had ever thought herself. Watching him sit down, the overwhelming urge to play with his hair, to tell folk tales from Norway about snow queens and other fantasy tales washed over her, but she resisted. There was a time and place for everything, and right now it was not the time. Not to mention it was mildly fascinating to watch the man and his odd quirks.
xxxAll too soon he was answering her question about what he did in the evening and was climbing to his feet. All he did was sleep? Well, that she could work with, tonight anyway. The more comfortable she got in her new home, the more likely it was the snow maiden would stay up in the colder evenings to watch the snow fall. Giving a chuckle as a hand gave her a gentle pat on the head, she gave a nod as he bid her good night and blessed her sleep. "You shall see me in the morning. Góða nótt og dreymi þig vel. Good night and sweet dreams." Bowing her head a little in thanks for his prayer, Eira watched her 'master' go off to bed and soon headed for her own bedroom. Shutting her door (and leaving it unlocked, something she hadn't been allowed to do for a long time) the woman got changed into a simple pale blue PJ set - shorts and camisole - and went to stand by the door of her balcony. It had been too long since she'd last spoken Icelandic to anyone, and in a way it felt more foreign these days, much like the feeling of being magically restrictive had become all too familiar. Touching her bare neck, a smile that almost shouted the relief she felt spread over her face, and it was all she could do to stop herself from creating a miniature snow storm in her room. Settling for a gentle dusting to shower her room while she got ready for bed, the barely audible crunch of the soft powder under her touch brought tears to her eyes. She could finally live again, not being worried about concealing her powers, or being told to not let them show by Masters who only wanted her for something pretty to look at. Falling asleep with a smile on her face as her gentle snow flurry coated her face in the purest white snow, it seemed the mountain weather had it's own plans to make the snow maiden feel at home.
xxxBy the time Eirawen woke up, there was no trace of the personal snow fall in her room besides a few traces on her eyebrows and eyelashes. It was a little after eight o'clock, and stretching out in the bed, the air in her room felt much crisper than when she fell asleep. Her personal flurry wouldn't have chilled the air this much over the whole night - her magic would have dissipated by the time she'd fallen fast asleep - and with a few blinks of her eyes the woman sat bolt upright, her mass of white hair falling in a messy wave over her shoulders. Snow made air this cold. A gentle fall of snow made the air feel fresh and crisp. Jumping out of bed - narrowly avoiding a tumble to the floor thanks to feet getting caught in blankets - she ran to her balcony door and threw it open. Two inches of perfect snow covered her balcony and the furniture that inhabited it. Large flakes danced in the air, and stepping out in her sleeping gear that was more suited for the height of summer, the female simply laughed. Pure, joyous laughter that came from her heart. Reaching out for the flakes to coax them to her, she kicked the powder under her feet to dance in her element. Running back into her room to have a speedy shower and dress in more appropriate attire (if it was up to her she'd have worn a lightweight dress to allow unrestricted movement but time had changed the woman), it was after nine o'clock when she flung open her bedroom door and ran down the hallway in childish glee. Boots making light but echo-ey thuds, she ran for the first outdoor area she could see; the back patio with the infinity pool that hung over the mountainside. There was a lovely seating area protected under the patio roof, but the luxury pool and it's spa section were at the mercy of the snow. Crunching through the two inches of snow to the pools edge, the woman touched the water, delighted to see a frozen fractal of ice spread from her fingertips. It had been too long since she'd been allowed to freely release her magic, and touching her foot to the frozen patch of pool, the ice radiated out with each step, creating a solid icy surface on top of the pool. Walking out to the centre of the now frozen pool, she threw her hands in the air, a cascade of tiny flakes of snow joining the larger flakes for just a moment; basically, Eirawen had shot off a snowball firework. It probably wasn't proper to freeze over Abdiel's swimming pool on her first morning at her new home, but it just seemed to happen in her fit of childish joy.
xxxReleasing some more pent up energy in the forms of ice manipulated ice skates to skate around the pool surface, and more of her puffs of snowballs to shower down more snow for a shorter period of time, Eira sat on a dusted off edge of the spa, cross-legged, tracing shapes into the cool water with her finger. She had unfrozen most of the infinity pool now, small chunks of ice slowly melting back to their liquid state as the ice maiden danced icy flakes on the water surface next to her, humming the opening bars of Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony. The only thing that brought her out her happy trance was when Abdiel would finally track her down. Flashing the happiest of smiles, she waved at the brunette. "Góðan daginn! Good morning!" There it was again, her native tongue, appearing even though she still found it odd to speak once more. It seemed her new found happiness and magical freedom brought out her naturally bubbly nature. "Did you sleep well? I'm sorry.. I froze your pool without meaning to. It will melt, I promise!" Shrugging and looking like a young child caught with their hand in the cookie jar, she continued to dance her fingers over the spa surface, the icy fractal designs smoothly dancing from her fingertips to dissipate into nothing.

Abdiel scratched the side of his head when he heard the tell-tale sounds of booted feet running down the hallway, past his door, then vanishing not longer afterwards. A soft hum of amusement escaped him at the thought of the delight that must have driven her to sprint down the hall at nine in the morning with boots on. And she would not even greet him? His lips curled into a grin and he walked back over to his own porch. As the door was closed, all it took was a light push. He was not as eager as she was to step into the snow with bare feet but he could see as she appeared out through the back into the snow on the porch. He leaned against the doorframe to watch her. It was cold, of course, but the wind was near non-existent so it was tolerable. The chill actually felt nice, especially since all that could be heard was the gentle crunching of snow as it hit the ground and the sound of her walking down below. It was strange how silent things seemed to be when it snowed, as if the world were holding its breath. His extended hand caught a few snowflakes on his palm before he decided he should probably dress for the cold and join her before she froze over the pools to make an ice rink. She could skate all she wanted, he wasn't going to give it a try. It looked suspiciously like sliding over slippery ice while trying not to fall. Some people were more graceful than others. He wasn't clumsy, not in the least, but he wasn't going to tempt fate.
He watched her skate around for a moment longer with a look of curiosity in his eyes before backing up and closing the door. It clicked shut. Even so, he'd much prefer to watch than actually give it a try. He scolded himself for a moment for refusing to try something new then set to finding some fitting clothing that would work out in the cold. In the end he was satisfied with a pair of boots that was a tiny bit too large, a black coat with cur interior lining that may or may not have been real, with gloves to complete the ensemble. He wasn't sure how much he enjoyed the coat as this was also a bit too large and the fur felt strange, but he'd make do. He could not reasonably get something new when there were so many other things in excess. There ere other coats, other boots, so why put those to waste? He'd find what fit best eventually and give the rest away. He planned to go through the house eventually and find everything that could be of use other people. What is the point of having treasure if you couldn't use it? Maybe even let people live there in any of the many rooms. But that was something to worry about later. Besides, he was more concerned about the school at the moment.
"Góðan daginn. Hvernig ert þú?"he asked a bit absently, with a smile on his face to see her practically brimming with energy and happiness. But his eyes began to twinkle a bit when she quickly apologized for making his pool freeze over. His face soon took on a stern look."You froze my outside pool while it is currently snowing and very cold out? You didn't let it freeze by itself? I am highly disappointed,"he scolded then plopped down next to the pool and leaned back some to look at her curiously."I slept perfectly well, thank you for asking. If I could not sleep well while in a bed that feels like it were a cloud, I must have had it in my mind already to not sleep."His hand lifted and scratched the back of his head."It was nice knowing there was someone else in that big house even if we were in far different rooms. And you? Did you sleep well?"
After a moment's thought, he stood up and brushed the snow off his rear end."I think today is as good as any to go see the school. Not that there will be anyone there but I think you will like it. I'd suppose you'd have a better idea about what else would be needed in there. I can guess but I think I'd rather actually have it functional."A brief frown touched his lips."Though there is a guy who is supposed to be helping with the legal and financial stuff whatever that is supposed to mean... but we'll meet him later, we have an... hm, appointment' to meet and he told me to bring someone who doesn't have their head on backwards."Again he looked confused before he looked at her cheerily."Yours' looks pretty straight so how about some breakfast?"

xxxMuch to the woman's delight, her 'Master' hadn't seemed upset over her freezing his beautiful pool. Perking up quite visibly at his use of her native Icelandic tongue, a sheepish brush of pink crossed her cheeks at his mock disappointment, or at least, she hoped it was in jest because she did feel quite silly now for getting ahead of herself. Turning back to the scenery that looked like it was thickly dusted with icing sugar, she smiled at his words. Abdiel was indeed right; if they hadn't been able to sleep in such lovely comfortable beds there was surely something wrong, and you had already decided not to sleep for the night. It had been so nice to sleep in a real, comfortable bed for the first time in a long time, and she felt like she could do anything. His comment about knowing that someone else was in the house made her think for a moment, and she had to agree in the end. Knowing that there was someone nearby that wasn't a guard or a slave was indeed quite a comfort. Knowing there was someone just down the hall that actually cared for your well-being was very much a nice thought. "I did. I slept incredibly well, thank you." Dancing her fingers in the icy water, she watched the male stand up and brush himself off. What did he have on his mind?
xxxAh, a visit to the school. Perking up, the woman drying her fingers by shaking her hand gently, she listened to his idea. Blinking, face more curious than anything, she wondered what she knew about schools. Books, Eira knew schools should have books for children to read and grow their imagination. Pencils, pens and notepads to write down what enters their little minds. Oh, and craft goods. While the woman was probably only slightly more knowledgeable on what they should include - she'd spied in on a few of the schools around the mountain towns, it would be a good experience to learn something new herself. Maybe if they had access to one of those computer things she could get a better idea? Didn't towns have libraries that held those weird devices? Brows twisting in worry at the sudden frown on the gentle man's face, his worry was soon voiced. They had an appointment with some man over some legal matters and money matters. Giving a slight chuckle at the use of an old saying, she stood up and brushed herself off as he asked about breakfast. "Breakfast would be lovely. I can make something if you like? A warm meal for a cold day?" Crunching through the thin layer of snow, she didn't really wait for an answer before throwing a kind smile over her shoulder. A good breakfast meant a good day, so why not teach the male a few new cooking ideas?
xxxBeelining for the kitchen, the woman could only pray there was the specific ingredients she was looking for. Raw sugar, check. Milk in the fridge, check. It took some prodding in the pantry but with a gleeful cry she found what she wanted most - oats. Porridge was one of her favourite winter breakfast meals, and it was relatively easy to make. Given the quantity made varied each time, usually making too much compared to not enough, the woman could only hope she didn't make an excess amount; you could always make more, not less. A pot was hunted for and produced, and the oats and milk were measured by eye into the container. Stove lit, it was time to watch and stir. It wasn't the quickest progress, and it wasn't hard for Eirawen to go and get distracted by making coffee or tea, but this time she was keen to keep focussed and make a lovely breakfast for the man that was being so wonderfully kind to her. Looking around for the male in question, she felt the oats and milk in the pot begin to thicken. Stirring a little quicker, within minutes she was able to take it off the heat and finally go prepare bowls and drinks. "Abdiel?" Unsure if he was even in the same room, her head in a cupboard looking for the bowls (she'd forgotten where they were already), she called out some more. "Do you drink tea?" Finding the bowls, she set them out and went to fetch some tea cups and a teapot. Filling the kettle, the woman bustled around the kitchen like she'd been in it for years and soon set out a teapot with basic black tea, a small jug of milk, a small pot of sugar and the two teacups. Spooning the viscous milk and oats into bowls, she sprinkled the top with a small amount of the raw sugar granules and set the bowls down too with spoons. All she had to do now was wait for Abdiel's reaction to the meal, and everything would be complete for the morning feed.
AHHH I DIDN'T FORGET YOU HONEST I JUST GOT SO BUSY AND NOW I MISS YOU AND OUR BABIES ; n ; i'm so sorry for making you wait for soooooo long~ his images still aren't working //cries everywhere

"That sounds wonderful,"Abdiel said cheerfully, following after her. A nice warm meal eaten during a snowy morning with a friend at your side? That sounded absolutely wonderful. There was just something so magical about food. He had no doubt it was a wonderful idea to have people need food. It caused many problems, yes, but that need also brought many people together, that one need all people shared. And when one had food to share, it was a wonderful experience. Now that he could actually experience food, it was... quite wonderful. Especially when it was actually edible food and not his own take on what... cooking was supposed to accomplish. He liked eating, cooking was the difficult part. He could read instructions and see yummy foods but...
Abdiel found himself enjoying watching her cook. He did his best to follow everything she was doing. The ingredients she took out seemed like a very strange combination indeed. Whatever she was making, he assumed she would know exactly how to accomplishment. Those flat little grains with... sugar, milk... how strange. Very, very strange. He was expecting some magic to be made.
As expected she poured everything together in one bowl. But it went n the stove! In spite of telling himself not to, he hovered at her shoulder to see just what sort of magic she was going to be working. He didn't want to get in her way so he remained silent, watching with at first some boredom, not sure what was supposed to happen. But she was waiting patiently so he let himself be patient as well. Surely she wasn't just heating that up but, then again, maybe it would taste good. She hadn't made anything disgusting so far.
But then she called for him and turned to look for him. He took a step back just in case, took in a breath. and hoped he hadn't startled her. But she was looking for something in the cupboards now.
"Tea?"he echoed, not giving a negative or affirmative to her question. She was already pulling stuff out, afterwards, and he figured he would find out soon enough. This oats and milk and now tea? It was sure to be an interesting meal. A warm one, he was sure, but an interesting one none-the-less. He simply had the impression that it would be impossible for him to imitate what she had made. If he ever wanted it again, she would have to be the one to make it. But pouring milk, oats, and sugar into a pot to heat on the stove didn't seem to hard. Then again, he had thought making noodles would be easy as well. That, of course, had not turned out as planned."I think I will enjoy the tea,"he decided at last. But now she was putting the bowls on the table so he was quickly in a chair looking down at what was offered.
"That is amazing,"he said in wonderment, touching the oatmeal with a spoon."You can do more than just make water into ice."His eyes brightened and he lifted his head to grin at her. But before he said another word, he was shoveling a spoonful in his mouth to give it a try. His next several mouthfuls showed just how much he was enjoying what she had made him. But then there was that tea. He burned his mouth at first but a spoonful of only slightly cooler oatmeal helped with that. He didn't seem to mind, enjoying both treats that he was given.
"I think the kids would love something like this,"he announced, sounding pleased. "We will certainly provide lunch for the children, and breakfast too because breakfast is important, isn't it? Especially with such good food."He thoughtfully shoved more in his mouth."Food... is good, I am glad I can enjoy food. When you have never had it, you don't know what you are missing but when you do you wonder how you lived without it."He gestured with his hand."I think the school will need a kitchen or something."

xxxHe was like a child with his innocent wonder, his excitement evident in the way he had hovered around her during cooking. Others might not have appreciated the male being so close while cooking, especially while by a stove, but Eirawen didn't mind. Mostly because she knew that if she was in Abdiel's shoes, she would do the exact same thing. Truth be told she was once a person full of wonder herself, when she first happened upon human life. She’d been the one to hover close enough to be in a dangerous situation to learn new skills, and when her first Master had taken her, she’d been the same when learning to cook. Back then though, a stove had been much scarier than the open campfires she’d been cooking over for centuries, but soon her confidence came, and in time she hoped that Abdiel would feel the same.
xxxWatching him attack the oatmeal with the sugary crust with gusto, a part of Eira felt proud that something so basic could make someone so happy. Eating a little more carefully, used to how hot the oatmeal could be when freshly made, she watched the brunette opposite her. People watching was what got her caught in the first place, but the need to study people hadn’t truly left her, and having someone full of the same wonder and innocence she’d possessed as a free spirit sitting opposite her… well, the temptation was too strong. Grey-blue eyes studied the way he sampled the tea and cooled his burned tongue with slightly cooler oats, the way his golden-brown eyes had lit up with unbridled joy at the experience of something new. There was a lot you could learn about people just by watching them, and even after all the reasons humans had given Eira not to watch and learn, she couldn’t help herself. The possibilities were endless, the things she could learn were near infinite. Being immortal meant a long life, but it wasn’t so bad when you had something to live for. Helping Abdiel was a good enough reason to live this time.
xxx“Food... is good, I am glad I can enjoy food. When you have never had it, you don't know what you are missing but when you do you wonder how you lived without it.” Eirawen had to look up from her mug of tea at this statement. She had almost missed his musing on how the children at the school would like the oatmeal for breakfast, and the subtle compliment to the taste of the food. Setting her cup down slowly, a soft smile painted her face. "That sounds like a wonderful idea. At least with a kitchen, you know they’ll always have full bellies and be happy and healthy!" Spooning a mouthful of oatmeal into her mouth, she looked down at the bowl. There were other simple but healthy breakfast foods she could easily make for the children, maybe she could write them down to share with Abdiel to see if they were good enough to serve? A lot of them were pretty basic, like wholemeal mini pancakes with fruit, but she was sure they would do the children well. "If you have a blank note book, I can write down ideas for what the children could eat? If I can take it with us today, I can get a head start on ideas!" The smile that spread to her eyes, causing the little crinkles of excitement to appear, was full of promise.
xxxIt was a short while later that Eirawen was happily washing the breakfast dishes, humming along to the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy from the Nutcracker Suite while thinking of what meals in her memory were child friendly. There was a few Finnish meals that wouldn’t be appealing to children - especially the ones with herring in them - but she was sure there was some simple ones she knew from the various Masters she had to live with. More modern meals, compared to slow cooked stews that were made to warm up cold bodies. Looking out the kitchen window, it probably wasn’t such a bad idea to think about stews to warm up cold bodies, given the snowy mountaintop they lived upon. It was like being back home, almost. As she watched the snow covered mountains for a while longer, lost in her own thoughts, it took longer than Eira cared to admit to realise she’d finished the dishes a while ago and had been pointlessly standing still. Shaking her head to clear her mind, her attention turned to her clothing choices for the day. Was it appropriate for the meeting they had with whoever it was that was helping Abdiel with his legal and financial stuff? Were jeans too casual for this kind of meeting, or did she need to wear something that represented Abdiel in a professional light? Humming thoughtfully, the only way to find out was to track down Abdiel and ask him, lest she worry about it the whole day and distract herself. "Abdiel?" Her voice rang out clearly as she went to find the pleasantly mannered male. "Am I appropriately dressed for this meeting with the man today? I can change if it’s too casual..." Plucking at the cream coloured long top that covered her upper body, she began to drift off into absent thought again; what if her hair needed fixing up as well? The naturally white locks tended to have a mind of their own.

Abdiel nodded his head at her, the cooling oatmeal stuck on one side of his cheek with his brows lifted."Eating food is a great joy,"he told her with emphasis with his hands. He was holding his spoon as he gestured but, luckily, there was nothing to go flinging anywhere by accident."Something so necessary but makes one so happy, I think there is nothing much better than food."He swallowed what had been in his mouth and lightly tapped the spoon against his lower lip and thought."Well, there are things much better than food that can be shared but I think it is still one of the very best. Especially when it is good and you share it with someone else. I think people do not have that all the time."His face grew sad briefly but he went back to eating after a partial comment about how it wouldn't be that long before he could fix some of that for some people because it was such a big task... But he was too busy eating to say all of his thoughts out loud. His eyes were now watching her, either way, as she began talking again and asking him about what he thought kids would want to eat.
Abdiel's nose wrinkled slightly in thought. He had no idea.
Abdiel turned his head when his name was called, looking up from where he stood at one of the large windows. His hands were pressed to it as his forehead had been before though they did not pull away as she asked him if she were appropriately dressed to meet that finance man. He rested his head back against the glass though his head was now turned in her direction. He looked as if he were trying to discern whether or not he should say she looked fine and if a change would be a bad thing to say or not.
"You look nice,"he finally said, cheek pressing harder against the glass so he was squishing his face. He was frowning slightly in a serious look of concentration."There are clothes you wear for different occasions but you look lovely so I do not know if the clothes are good or not. But you look nice."Perfectly contrite. Honest. And hoping that was the right sort of answer because that was all he really had at the moment. He knew a little bit more about what a guy should or should not wear in different company because there were... simply less choices. She was wearing clothes he wasn't used to so he assumed they would be fine. If this was casual, what was fancy? Though..."If you think it is casual, though, I do not think you have to be fancy. Just... nice. You look nice, I think."There. Good enough?
Except that brought up a new dilemma. He looked down at his own clothing. Gray sweatshirt, black pants."Is what I am wearing good?"He had no idea.
Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof.
