I love your donkey! I've always wanted to be able to make stuffed animals and amigurumi's!

weeirdoo I love your donkey! I've always wanted to be able to make stuffed animals and amigurumi's! I also love that you're from Moreno Valley which is like 10 minutes from where I live. Do you sell your products from your home? ;o Donkey Joté? I was so happy with how he turned out! Made him for my boyfriend's birthday -- and yep, I'll be telling him there was someone admiring his a** today. xd But I did just finish this guy this morning -- same design, I'm calling him Strawberry Roan for the moment. I'll probably be uploading new photos to Facebook in a couple hours, too. 3nodding Srsly?? Well, there's a couple Starbuck's in town now, it was only a matter of time before actual people started popping up! Usually I just identify as from Riverside to save everyone the "where's Moreno Valley?" dialogue. xp So that puts you... Riverside? Or out around Perris or Hemet? Anyway -- yup, I do most of my selling at the Art Walk each month, though (first Thursday of the month from 6-9; we set up in the parking lot on University and Lime, if you're in the neighborhood!). Most people would rather just pick up orders there, usually, which is understandable. The ironic part is that I could never manage to display everything I've made, it'd be way too cluttered, so stopping by is the only way to look through it all! sweatdrop I'm planning to do the Ontario event this Saturday, too, but let me know if you want to swing by the house. ^_^

The Art Walk itself encompasses several blocks in every direction, though -- all the studios and galleries are open for visitors, there's usually live music in a few places, too. Vendors used to set up pretty much wherever we decided to, which was great for getting foot traffic, but it started to get to where people would haul their yard sale junk out to sell, and the other thing that happened was for a couple months running, someone was going around lifting things from busy vendors and just taking off. So now there's a few places vendors set up, the parking lot there being the main one. That's a bummer you're about to leave, though! You should totally hit the Ontario one on your way out of town, then! xd I know what, though -- make it a kind of game, see how many art walks you can find around your new place, and how long it takes to track them down! wink

I really like that sunflower blanket you posted. I'm working on a project from RedHeart right now that's blanket squares with sunflowers in them. Before my husband found out that he wasn't going to make it back from Japan in time for us to get married in Indiana before we had to move to North Carolina, we had the whole thing decorated with sunflowers.
It was going to be so pretty too, so instead I'm making myself a blanket to commemorate the ceremony we never had. Haha. Too bad he didn't find out BEFORE we made over 100 little tulle bags full of bird seed for the people coming.

I'm... ah... not quite sure what a creepypasta is... lol Frog Squash I really like that sunflower blanket you posted. I'm working on a project from RedHeart right now that's blanket squares with sunflowers in them. Before my husband found out that he wasn't going to make it back from Japan in time for us to get married in Indiana before we had to move to North Carolina, we had the whole thing decorated with sunflowers. It was going to be so pretty too, so instead I'm making myself a blanket to commemorate the ceremony we never had. Haha. Oh, I heard a story about my great-uncle recently I'd never known; apparently since he'd had legal training before enlisting, they kept him on in Nagasaki for the rebuilding, to help get started with drafting their constitution. He bought the silk there for my great-aunt's wedding dress! Tiny little town, middle of Nebraska, and she had a wedding dress of Japanese silk. Hoh. Lee. Crap. Anyway. You just made me think of that. xp I think I've seen that one -- flowers within green leaves on cream, brown borders? That looks like an awesome one! I've been trying to get the hang of join-as-you-go styles lately; I think I've got the hang of hexagons, but I'm still frustrated with how my squares look. stare On the other hand, I totally love the big (okay, giant) visual effects, too. I'm hoping I can manage to fit another in for Christmas -- my boyfriend's a musician, and I want to make a grand piano. Like, an afghan of a full-size grand piano. Well, baby grand. Full size is a little ridiculous for an afghan. But yeah -- 88 keys, and I'm going to make the black keys so that they sit above the white ones. If I can get started! sweatdrop

I haven't been doing the join as you go method, but I have been sewing the pieces together as I finish them. I like how it looks and there's no muss or fuss. That piano idea sounds really, really cool. Good luck with making the separate black keys, that sounds like a lot of crocheting, weaving ends in and sewing on pieces. Definitely not one of my favorite things to do. Just watch out for the boyfriend sweater curse. I'm convinced that it carries over to afghans as well. Anything that takes that much effort, really.

I'm gonna try to see if I can crochet them right onto the tops of the white keys -- at least avoid the sewing together part... the other approach I have in mind is to sort of make the black keys all as one piece and the white keys as another and layer them, assuming I can keep the gauge just so. Of course, then I'd at least have to stitch down the other end of the black keys. But I'm definitely going to do a few small-scale tests before I dive in. I'll drive myself totally nuts otherwise. Sounds like one of the best reasons for a party I can think of, that! Is he jumping right into the second career or taking some well-earned time off? wink

He'll have a few weeks off while we get moved, find a place and settle in but both of us are going to have to find a job pretty much as soon as we get back. I got my old job lined up a few days ago, I just need to speak to HR and possibly do their training course again.
