Name:
Alan Murray
Age:
18
Gender:
Male
Occupation:
Student
Appearance:
Alan inherited his mother's brown hair, which he grows long, layered, and shaggy past his shoulders, allowing it to curl out and up at the ends. Alan inherited his father's light-brown eyes. His body build is slightly muscular, average height, a little thin, and he is fairly hairy, aside from his back and face. Alan comes from North Texas, and sounds like it, but rarely does he dress like it. He prefers basketball shorts and cargo shorts and loves going barefoot above all else, and dresses mainly in black, gray, dark gray, and royal blue t-shirts that are fairly baggy. Alan will also wear some form of jewelry every now and again. His idea of formal wear is a solid black t-shirt, a pair of seriously faded blue jeans that are frayed at the bottom, and a pair of beat-up cowboy boots.
Personality:
Alan is a strange mixture of either quiet and observant, or energetic, goofy, playful, and adventureous, with both personality types taking over in different situations. Although he's better with Pokemon than with people, Alan is kind and trustworthy to a fault, and would do almost anything to help a friend, or a random stranger, for that matter, which has gotten him in trouble before. When attempting to accomplish things, Alan is the determined, never give-up type and pushes himself to achieve his goals. When Alan is told he'll fail or can't do something, he will work even harder and push himself to extremes to prove them wrong, and he will do better than he ever could've otherwise. However, though he tells nobody, Alan is very insecure about his abilities and potential, and is constantly doubts himself at every turn. In fact, Alan is the one person that can tell him that he'll fail, and not get him fired up, and this frustrates Alan further, as he feels this is the one roadblock he can never avoid. Alan enjoys music, Pokemon, exploring, fishing, and thunderstorms. He dislikes bullies, feeling trapped or tied down, being controlled, and personal failure.
Biography:
Alan was never the best at anything, but he poured his heart and soul into everything that he did. Unlike most aspiring trainers his age, Alan didn't attend the Trainer's School, believing that forming special bonds with Pokemon was far more important as a trainer than conventional book learning, instead deciding to study Pokemon up close and personal by interacting with them in the wild. However, Alan didn't completely disregard the basics; he studied battle theory, tactics, status effects, and the like almost every day with intensity, but he just put more time and effort into his personal interactions with Pokemon. Almost every second of every day was devoted to studying Pokemon; observing them, drawing them, playing simple music for them, playing with them once they got used to seeing Alan so often, and some nights living with them... to the point that people mistook him for a Pokemon professor, rather than an unconventional aspiring Pokemon master. Naturally, this made Alan's human interactions rare and sometimes strange, but his relationships with Pokemon blossomed early and stayed strong, so when Alan became old enough, he moved out into the wild, built a simple hut, and lived with Pokemon, his days full of adventure and exploration, until an invitation to Pokemon Academy mysteriously showed up on his doorstep one day. Excited at the prospect of a whole new adventure and a chance to learn from Pokemon trainers all around the world, Alan gladly accepted the invitation.
