 It had been over a year since she had seen her friends. She had spent days putting together the invitations to the party and sending them out to everyone. Now the day of the party was at hand, and she anxiously waited to see who, if anyone, would show up. Platters of food had been prepared, and the nearby stream would accommodate anyone's thirst. She looked around the glade, and was quite happy with her preparations. It was nearing the midpoint of the day, and the sun was quickly rising overhead. It was shaping up to be a beautiful day, and if it got too hot, there were plenty of shade trees lining the glade for her friends to take shelter under. She sat down and waited for her friends to arrive.

 Skylar had received his invitation a few days earlier, and although he had made other plans for today, he couldn't pass up an opportunity to see Carne and the others again. He awoke early, preened his wing feathers so they would be in prime flight mode, then donned his mask and leg covering and took to the air. He loved to fly, and often times found himself feeling sorry for Carne and the others who had not been blessed with wings. He couldn't begin to imagine a life without his wings, being restricted to ground travel. He always found it refreshing to get off the ground, and up above the trees, into the empty expanse of the sky.
He came within sight of the glade where the party was to be held, but he didn't see anyone. He could see that food had been made available, and when he landed, he caught sight of his friend under a nearby tree. He called out a greeting to her and hurried over. "Hello Carne! Where's everyone else?"

Carne saw him land, and she rose to meet him as he called out to her. She always loved watching him fly; he was so graceful in the air. "You and I are here, who needs anyone else," she said as she laughed. "But really, you are the first to arrive. I'm sure the others will be along eventually. So, how have you been? It's been forever since I saw you. You look wonderful. Whatever you are doing, it's working." She loved flirting with him, because she knew her advances made him fidget.

 Etienne was having some trouble finding his way to the party. He'd left that morning giving himself plenty of time to get there, but somehow he had gotten himself lost in the trees. Now it was almost midday, and he had no idea exactly where he was. If he had wings, like some of their friends did, he would have just taken to the sky and searched for the glade from the air. However, he did not, and therefore he was left to find his way on the ground. His sense of direction never had been very good, and Carne should have remembered that when she sent him his invitation. A map would have come in quite handy right about now.

 Cymran hovered about the trees, contemplating the invitation before him. he wasn't sure if he really wanted to go or not, though he couldn't help but want to see everyone again. Though he still hesitated. What would it be like now that they had been their separate ways?

 Bloom had gotten an invitation of a party that was being thrown by someone she had not seen in awhile. She had been busy exploring the world, but she really was glad to return home and get to see some of her friends. She circled around the glade and waved one of her paws at Cymran when she saw him flying too. " Hello Cymran, it has been awhile, how are you?"Bloom greeted cheerfully.  Eclipse darted around some of the trees in the glade, looking forward to being with friends again. He had spent much of the year learning how to be stealthy, so no one would know he was coming until he snuck up on them. He soon saw a couple of his friends and he smiled, sneaking behind Carne. " Hiya Carne!"Eclipse said suddenly.

"Look Sky! I told you more of our friends would eventually start arriving." She waved to the two who had yet to land. It had been ages since she had last seen Bloom, and she was looking as beautiful as ever. She was just about to get up and go out to greet them when she was startled by a greeting from behind. She jumped up instead, turning around to see Eclipse standing there. "Oh you! Why do you like to startle me so much?" She laughed though, because she knew it was just in his nature to be that way.
Skylar stood and walked over to his friend. "Greetings Eclipse. It's so good to see you once again. Why don't we come out from under the tree and greet the others?"
"That's a wonderful suggestion Sky," said Carne, as she headed out into the glade. She was wondering where the Prince was, since he always liked to arrive on time. She hoped he wasn't lost, for she knew how bad he was with directions.
