Name: Alexander Cromwell

Hero/Villain Name: Reaper

Age: 20

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 180 lbs

Appearance: Alexander Alexander stands just over six feet tall, and possesses a thin athletic build. His dark brown hair falls just short of covering his burning orange red eyes, and provides the perfect frame for his sharp angular features. His normal choice of attire includes a simple zip up hoodie, a white undershirt, and a pair of jeans.

Power Source: Genetic mutation.

History: Alexander was born on the streets, and his childhood wasn't easy. He had to lie, cheat and steal to survive. Morals were not something the young boy had much regard for. With all of his criminal actions the boy soon found himself falling in with the wrong crowd. Eventually he joined a gang, and found the perks to be much to his liking. A roof over his head, food in his belly, and a warm bed were things the young hoodlum had never had before.

However, these comforts came with a price. Alex was forced to deal and smuggle drugs, and even kill rival gang members. He did well at first, and some would even say he thrived...for a time. Of course one cannot take a the lives of others without consequences. A rival gang found the safe house that the scrawny boy was staying in, and shot it to pieces. Alex took several bullets to his right shoulder, but survived the encounter.

Soon after the shooting the young boy decided that it would be best to leave the gang, and the city itself. So he moved down, several levels down, and tried to start his life over. Having no permanent place of residence finding work was next to impossible. When work was available he blew most of his money on drugs to escape the harsh reality of his situation. Eventually addiction set in, and the poor boy just had to have his next fix. He started mugging people in alleyways, robbing stores, and stealing from the few friends he did have just to get his next fix.

The next year or so of Alex's life was a haze of criminal activity and substance abuse. Most of his time was spent high on narcotics, sedatives, or what ever else he could get his hands on. It was only a matter of time before he started mixing drugs, and when he did it ended badly. The young man nearly killed himself with his addictions. After days of recovery Alex decided that it was time to clean up his act, and get his s**t together.

It was a long hard battle to get clean, and an even harder one to stay clean, but somehow the now Ex-delinquent managed to pull through. The boy knew that the military would be his only real option for employment, but being only 17 he would have to lie about his age. This was nothing new to him though, he had been lying his whole life. It seemed that all of his practice in the art of deception would pay off in the end. It took a while to get through the paperwork but eventually Alexander was officially enlisted in the armed forces. For better or worse there was no turning back now.

The training was hard, and the instructors harder, but the structure was something he had never had before. It was a welcome change to the chaotic anarchy the young man had grown up with. With hard work and great effort he passed the training and was sent overseas to fight in the war. Private Cromwell came to know death very well over the next few months. Many of the men and women he served with went home in boxes. He was quick and sly, which kept him alive in the heated war zone.

Unfortunately his speed and cunning did not save him from contracting a foreign disease. His body grew weaker and weaker as he lay in a hospital bed. The doctors had told him it was terminal, and he only had a month to live. Looking back on his life Alex felt a sense of emptiness. It seemed as if those years were wasted now. He wondered how he could have done things differently, and how many opportunities he had missed.

Just before his month of time ran out the sickly adolescent was given an offer. There was an experimental new drug designed to treat his condition, however it was completely untested. Knowing his only other option was death Private Cromwell mustered all of his strength to whisper a word of acceptance. The drug was delivered intravenously through a steady drip. The pain he felt was excruciating. It seemed as if his blood would boil, and his skin would melt. The screams that flew from his mouth echoed off the hospital walls, and filled the medical institution. After a week of agony the pain suddenly stopped, and Alex felt strong again.

The doctors ran a plethora of tests on the poor boy. Blood, tissue, and saliva samples were all taken, and he was not allowed to leave. Something was still wrong with him, but the doctors could not tell what it was. After weeks of laborious and intensive exams the young man was told that his DNA had been altered. He had mutated into something that was no longer human. Private Cromwell was frightened of this at first, but he came to discover that with this mutation came new abilities. He could control blood, and even extract it from a living being. The possibilities of these abilities were endless, and it seemed military command agreed with that fact.

A folder detailing a high risk retrieval mission deep in enemy territory was covertly left on his bedside table. After looking over the briefing Alex decided that it was his chance to change his life for the better. The young militant had been given godly new abilities and he intended to make use of them. As soon as he was released from the hospital he grabbed his gear and made his way into enemy territory. It was slow going but eventually he came upon his target.

The building was heavily guarded on all sides, and there wasn't much room for a stealth approach. Going in guns blazing would surely lead to the young man's death, but a well timed use of his ability could provide a distraction large enough for Alex to sneak by the guards. He looked down the sight of his assault rifle and focused on the guards to the left of the building. Blood began to spew from their mouths as they fell to their knees. The choking sounds drew attention from some of the guards, but not all of them.

The young soldier would have to risk going in hot, but not before he did a little bit more damage. As many of the guards ran to help their comrades a quick burst of concentration and aggression caused several of them to explode violently. Jets of blood swirled in the air and sliced into several more guards. Blood continued to pool on the ground beneath their feet as shouts of panic rang through the air. Alex turned his sights on the guards in the windows and opened fire with his rifle. The sound of gunfire filled the air as one by one the guards fell through the shattered glass.

Then they were on him like the hounds of hell. Bullets peppered the sand around the super powered soldier as he tumbled down the dune. He knew he had to keep moving, if he stopped he was as good as dead. Darting left then right Alex made his way between toward the target. The sound of automatic weapon fire roared in his ears as he turned his attention to the door of the building. He opened fire as one of the enemy soldiers came around the corner, and red mist filled the air for an instant. The man fell to the ground dead as Private Cromwell pushed past him. The young soldier kicked down the door in front of him and saw the captive target beaten and bloody, but alive.

Needing to act fast the Alex grabbed his target and moved to the corner of the room. He looked over the woman quickly and realized she had a broken leg. He would need to take out the remaining hostiles before she could be moved the the extraction point. The enemy troopers stormed through the door before the young militant could react. Suddenly they froze in place, and Alex realized that he was stopping their blood from moving at all.

He quickly capitalized on this discovery and tore them apart from the inside out. With the immediate threats gone and enemy reinforcements, most likely, already inbound the able bodied soldier knew what he had to do. He picked up the woman and began to make his way to the extraction point. Upon arriving Private Cromwell discovered there was already a firefight in progress.

The now battle proven soldier moved from cover to cover, as best as he could, carrying the woman on his back. When he made it to the extraction team he was told another vehicle was inbound to extract him, and that this one only had enough room for the VIP. Foolishly Alexander nodded in acceptance and sent them off with covering fire. His extraction team never came. He managed to cause enough chaos to slip away on his own, but never returned to base. Instead he now works as a freelance mercenary, and holds a powerful grudge against military authority figures.
