Age/Year: 14, Year 3
(The reason he's old for his year is because his birthday is the day after the Sorting ceremony, so he received his invitation after the term began and had to wait until the next one to begin attending.)

Appearance: [link] - Gilbert stands at 173 cm (5'6"), and weighs 46 kg (108 lbs). He's very lean. When not on campus, he dresses pretty casually, preferring simple and comfy clothing. (ex: when it gets a bit chilly).
Speaking Style: Gilbert was born and raised in Totnes, a rather tiny town in the South Devon. So as such, he has an accent from there. ( He has the same accent as Bradley James. ) He has a soft, and rather deep, monotone voice.
Demeanor: Gilbert rarely smiles, and always seems to be brooding, or at least unamused. He only enjoys the company of himself. He isn't sociable at all and makes no attempt at being so, so conversations with him are painfully short and awkward. He walks rather briskly to decrease his chances of bumping into someone and having to open his mouth to apologize or say 'hello', though this usually has the opposite effect.
Best Qualities:
- Can keep a level-head
- Thrifty and resourceful
- Prefers to avoid conflict, will be the first to leave should a tense situation arise
- Very, very organized; bit of a clean-freak
- Rather goal-driven, and will do nearly anything to reach said goal
Worst Qualities/Flaws:
- Thinks teamwork is beneath him
- Unnaturally and extremely withdrawn, making him rather difficult to speak to; rarely will even a "hello" from someone will warrant a reply from him (and when he does speak, he can be very crude and cheeky)
- Thinks himself to be even better than pure-bloods and half-bloods, as he was muggle-born and his magical capabilities "weren't handed to him"
- Usually does as he pleases, bending or ignoring rules whenever he feels like it
- Does not take being wrong or being outdone well, can be quite competitive
History: Gilbert will never bring up his childhood, not even if he was prompted. His childhood wasn't extraordinarily terrible, but reminiscing about it angers him.
Gilbert is the second-child of a muggle couple, Rowan Pince and Priscilla Goffe (née Bellamy). He was born a little over a year after his brother, Elliot. Growing up, Gilbert was constantly outshone by his brother. Elliot was outgoing, courageous, and intelligent, while Gilbert was introverted, cautious and knew just enough to get by. (In spite of their vast differences, they were pretty close. Gilbert both loved and despised Elliot at the same time.) Elliot was his parents' pride and joy, but especially his father's. Their father, Rowan Pince, (who was a very proud and popularity-oriented man) favored and spoiled Elliot, often paying little attention to Gilbert, who he came to regard as a "loser", even going so far as to despise Gilbert. Gilbert wanted nothing more than for his father to praise him. But whatever Gilbert did, even if he just said "good morning", it was chastised vehemently by his father. (Though he's always been withdrawn, this is the reason why Gilbert will almost never reply when spoken to. He believes speaking and conversations aren't worth it.)
When he was 8, his father suddenly left his mother, taking Elliot with him. Though his mother was relieved that her cantankerous husband was gone, she was utterly devastated at the loss of one of her sons. Gilbert himself was enthralled. No longer did he have to compete with a brother he would never better, nor try to impress a critical father that hated him. It was the happiest he had ever felt. Though this happiness dissipated instantaneously when he realized that his mother wasn't happy at all. His mother never fully returned to her previously mirthful self, she eventually began to appreciate Gilbert more, even spoiling and babying him a bit.
While attending Hogwarts, he's always thinking about his mother, whom he doesn't want to leave alone, seeing as he is (now) her only child. As a result, he doesn't seem all that thrilled to be there; he's just worrying about his mother.
