Various & Rare

A store where exotic, unique, and rare pokeballs can be purchased. Instead of the standard pokemart selection of pokeballs, this store specializes in making custom apricorn balls (made to order) along with selling specialty balls made by Devon Corp's Hoenn and Sinnoh departments.

Be sure to try the region's specialty pokeballs each at a reasonable 800pk

After class, and before work started, Vern walked into the Pokeball shop, sort of just browsing. He hadn't really bothered to change out of his contest outfit, since his work uniform looked very similar and he was admittedly feeling kind of lazy about that. Besides, he wanted to have time to browse the shop today, so he cheated a little and had Rae teleport him across the lake into town, so that way he didn't have to take the long-a** ferry. Once they'd gotten across safely, Vern let Ryuichi back outside of his pokeball for the time being. He also chose to carry around his Voltorb Egg in his arms, rather than keep it tucked away in his room or in his bag.

So casually, the young black-haired man in the tuxedo carrying the pokemon egg, quietly browsed through the selection. He felt that he was running low on Pokeballs, and besides one could never have too many, right? Especially a young trainer such as himself! Not that he was out catching a bunch of Pokémon all the time anyways, but still.
"Oooh, this Volt Ball looks cool. What do you think, guys? Would it be good for the baby when it finally hatches?" Vern asked his Kirlia and Porygon.

Jason

Jason whistled a happy tune, walking through town and sporting his particular fashion. He'd lost the battle on what to do for tommorw. And frankly, he was to exhausted from the party before to keep up the fight. Iris was gonna do what Iris was gonna do. "At least she doesn't piss on like Toto did. He's all shy and good until things aren't going his way. Bipolar b***h," He chuckled as he muttered to himself.

He finally found the stupid place. That pokeball store everyone raved on about. He took his cheat sheet from his pocket: his brother's notes. Why bother taking a class when your brother and roommate took it for you? Less work this way! A small list of pokeballs, their design and short description. 'Now if only he'd tack on the prices! It'd make shopping less tedious!' he mused. "Okay... Second list..." He pulled up a second scribbled note: The types of pokemon that lived in the desert. Looking at it, his face soured, "It's mostly ground and rock types, according to Dev..." And none were particularly attractive. Maybe more masculine looking pokemon would be a nice addition? "Let's go by two's then..." He sighed, counting up his cash and estimating the costs.

You'll be glad I came

Harrison walked out of the back room when he heard another customer enter the store. It had been very busy recently, as the students of Phoenix Academy were getting ready for the yearly desert exploration. It was the same thing before almost every field trip; the students wanted to make sure they had the right tools to capture any Pokemon they might find while away. It also helped that Harrison’s reputation as a PokeBall smith was increasing exponentially. This was due to the fact that he had created items exclusive to his shop and the Phoenix Academy students.

“Hello there!! Is that all for today? Might I interest you in a special we’re having today. Buy four and get two free!!” Harrison exclaimed with a smile on his face. He always did something to give the students more for their money. “See, it’s on that sign over there...you know...the one that’s...upside down,” Harrison said, facepalming. “Give me one moment, lemme go fix that,” the man said as he walked around the counter and over to the poster.

On his trip over to the poster, Adell’s resident klutz tripped over his own shoelace and fell to the ground with a thud. At the sound of the fall, a Magmar and Slowking ran out from the back room and over to their trainer. “Ugh...well...that happens a lot; too many times to tell you the truth. Don’t worry, I’m fine,” Harrison said as his Magmar helped him up while Slowking fixed the poster. “Thank you Buubu and Royal. I’m fine now,” he said to his Pokemon, who then returned to the back.

Harrison made it behind the counter, without tripping as well, and turned back to the red and white haired customer that he had. “Sorry about that. So, are you interested in the sale?”

Jason looked over as the clumsy clerk made his way out. He chuckled at the guy's face plant, leaning just enough to get a better look at that sweet little a** of his. He looked the guy over, assessing on where he'd rank him. The face was nice, the butt was cute... but the body and style was all wrong! A five. That's where he'd sit on the Jason scale. That said: He'd wait it out before deciding if the guy needed his company (day or night). "So... is it any four?" He said, placing down his looky loo and pricey pokeball back on its display. "Or just a particular one you need to get rid of? Out of date maybe... You wouldn't be trying to sell me a faulty one, would you?" He teased and joked. But seriously, what was the deal? How do you get in on that?

Hana was a little happy to get away from school a little early. An early dismissal meant less eyes to watch her go across the school yard. A second quick rinse to freshen up (and from her home habits) and she left quickly. Though, not before applying Lydia's salves and oils; it still hurt, more and more with the growing cold--like bee stings. And there was Devin's open offer to let his cute pokemon take care of her. He was definitely the sweetest and kindest boy she ever met (though she hadn't met all too many to start with), always thoughtful and near. It sort of made her wonder about her engagement. Would her to-be be as kind as Devin? Strong and quiet as Lel? As creative as Vern? Or would he be more like...

She made her way quickly through town, a little afraid of the spooky decorations that plastered the town, and she with her little dainty cloths. An early leave had also meant a much needed window to stock up on things. Her teacher had given the class a few medicines--all from the lecture of the day. But there was a huge buzz about stocking up on pokeballs for this upcoming trip. According to the upper classmen (who had been with the academy several times) the trip was a real rare treat! All the prior years had held their excavations in the mines just outside of town. This was really a first! Though, what made Hana particularly excited was that this would be her first adventure! A real adventure with exploring and camping! Things she'd never done.

However, her little hopes were mildly dashed when she counted up the prices of the pokeballs versus her own tiny savings... Just one pokeball would swallow up a month's allowance! And her tiny pay check would barely cover a couple more... That was, until she noted the prices on the apracorn pokeballs. They were a little cheaper, allowing a little more flex for her budget. What made her smile was was followed a crashing sound around the corner: A sale! Free pokeballs! Hana hurried around to ask more about it, but froze the moment she saw red hair... What if her to-be was like... Him? Now what? She wanted to know about the free pokeballs, but... she also wanted to keep as far away from Jason as possible!

In my dreams, oh I wish I could...

Harrison laughed when the red-haired boy questioned his sale; though he was right to question. Most specialty stores, especially pokeball stores would attempt to push old, faulty products on consumers using sales. This way, a profit could still be made. However, Harrison was not a jerk.

"Any ball in the store applies to the deal. I highly suggest you mix and match to whatever your needs are. As for faulty pokeballs, there are no such thing in this shop. I've been making pokeballs longer than you've been in school," the man said with a chuckle. "If anything of mine stays on the shelf too long, I usually just donate them to the school or something along the lines of that. Nothing here is that old though. I always make sure I'm freshly stocked before trips, that's when I get the most business," Harrison continued to explain.

Harrison then noticed another customer, an oriental female who also looked as if she was a student at Phoenix Academy.

"I'll be right with you once I take care of this young gentleman over here. In the mean time, if you have any questions you can ask Royal," Harrison said to the girl. His Slowking ran out from the backroom at the sound of his name and stood right next to the girl, waiting patiently to be of any assistance to her.

Jason smirked, rubbing at his head and playing the somewhat awkward roll: "Oh ya, my little brother got some crazy pokeballs from one of his classes. Probably should have guessed that, huh?" He laughed. "But there's no way you could have been making pokeballs for that long," His cheeky grin came back, pleasant and devious, "You're way too young!" 'Plus there's a different set of balls I'm interst--' All devilish thoughts ceased when he heard a little squeak. "Hm?" There stood a familiar little princess. "Oh, hey Hana," He greeted, more aloof than usual.

Now, it's important to remember that he didn't show interest--not because of the scars on her hands and cheek--but because she had the biggest Hungarian c**k block in this part of the world. And he was about to let the whole thing blow over when a new and equally terrible thought drifted into his head. He couldn't touch her. But that didn't mean that he couldn't. Oh the show that would bring!

He quickly slung his arm around Harrison, reeling him in close to whisper lowly. "You know, I see that girl hanging around the outside of this store a lot. I think she has a big crush on you!" Oh Jason. Jason, Jason, Jason... "She's really sweet, but a little shy. Some other girl got really jealous and, well... I think she got even more self conscious with the bandages. But you should ask her out! It might get her to smile again..." Sweet words, but this was Jason McBeth we're talking about!

With the thought planted in the clerk's clumsy little brain, he walked away. "I'll fill her in on the sale! We're in the same class after all," he said with a friendly smile. He walked over to Hana, turning her around and headed to brows more. "So you're here to shop too?" He started with small talk until they were out of sight and earshot.

Once away, he sighed. He knew Hana didn't care for him (or rather, was afraid of his character). "Don't worry. I'm not doing anything. The big, dark, friend of yours has a hard on for you. Minute you go crying to him, my a** gets shredded--and not in a good way..." He explained, low and hushed like, reassuring her. "So what were you looking at? He said any four gets you two free," He picked up four at random and began to juggle them as if he were amusing someone. "That makes six. And Dev says you can only carry six at once, cause then they lock up or something. He complained about it yesterday after he caught another new pokemon. I dunno. But you know more on what each of them do--so what do you think is a good deal?"

Hana shied away when the attention went onto her, and more so when a strange pokemon came running up to her. For whatever reason, this pokemon was crowned with some sort of rock and dressed with a clownish collar. It all together looked strange and eerie to the timid girl. And how was a pokemon supposed to help with questions? In what little experience Hana had with pokemon, she'd never known one to communicate well with her.

The whole thing was quickly forgotten when a new and even scarier monster came up: Jason. She shuttered, the hairs on her neck standing on end as he walked off with her. What was he going to do now!? The last time they were this close to each other, he got all handsy and laid that terrible, sloppy kiss on her! That said, it was a surprise when he just let her go and occupied his hands with something else. And while she didn't understand about half of what he said to her, she didn't exactly trust him: Friend? Hard on? Shredded? In a good way? She stood there timidly, blinking and shy until he said something she actually understood. "Eh-ano..." She stopped, realizing she was about to go back to her native tongue and muttering.

"This one..." She picked up a friend ball. It was a little cheaper than the regular pokeball; and it was the sort that lickitung was captured in, making it a little too friendly at times (not at Jason's level, but still overly affectionate). "Good for make nice pokemon... Jay-sun senpai..." She said, staying respectful. Sure he was a jerk, a real pervert of a monster, but he was still her elder. It would be dishonorable to address him disrespectfully.

Counting out her coins, her head sunk a little low. She had enough for three! But... not for four.... She closed her little clutch bag, her shoulders slumping to feel more low. "Fea..." She muttered.

In my dreams, oh I wish I could...

"Which one?--" Jason asked before he missed one of his catches, losing his rhythm and dropping two of the four pokeballs. "Shoot..." He muttered as he set them all back and actually looked at what Hana was holding. "Make nice pokemon, huh? Give me a minute; I can figure this one out..." He bit his lip, looking at the pokeball. "I got it! It makes a pokemon more friendly, and less aggressive--mean. Yes? Wait... What did you call me?" He picked up. It wasn't that he was bothered by how she said his name. English was her second language, and a relatively new language; name pronunciation was probably the least of his worries when speaking with the little princess. It was the word that followed. Between her, Iris and Vern (at their own place of business), he was beginning to think they had some inside references and curses that took advantage of his ignorance to the language. However, that might be a little bit of a stretch with little Himeko...

And then there was that look she had after she opened her little purse. What the heck was wrong now? What could he have possibly done or said to upset her this time? Wait... He could figure this out... She was... short on cash? Well, he did recently get paid. And Iris was fighting to resist his will. Why not? Consider it a nice gesture... "Just get it. I'll cover you this time and pay for it." He said, hand on his hip before reaching and plucking up his four and her four little green colored pokeballs. "But do me a favor? Grab a few of those black and yellow topped pokeballs--the ultra one thingies! If I'm getting free, I'm definitely getting cream of the crop!" He smiled. "Dev's notes say those ones are the best."

Hana jumped back a step when Jason dropped his juggling pokeballs. She blinked as he gestured and joked, not really sure how to handle it. Somehow... He was different now--towards her. Not that she was upset with it; she was glad to have him a little more distant from her. But, she couldn't help think if everyone was changing the way they acted towards her... Devin was more attentive, Vern was more quiet and awkward around her (so was Iris). Was it all because of her scars? The bandages? Was she really being treated more delicately? The very thought of being shunned or treated differently from before by her friends was discouraging...

"Eh!?" Her daze was broken. All at once her brain had to catch up with what was going on. The pokeball she was holding had been taken away--not in spite or cruelty, but in kindness. Jason was really going to buy them for her? Was this a trick? The last time he did something "nice", that thing happened. "A--Wait!" She called softly and a little too late. Jason already barked out an order to her. What else was she gonna do?

Rather than try and figure it out, losing time, she gently took what he wanted her to get and followed with soft steps. She stood by him, silent for a while, watching the clerk clear up the pricing and feeling a little ashamed for not being able to carry her own expense. "Jay-sun senpai..." She repeated softly. Now it was her turn to try and figure out what he meant. If it was how she said his name, he would have just corrected her, right? "Senpai... liek, eh..." How do you explain something like that? It was like trying to describe "blue" to the blind! "Bee-cau... Yu are bigger--older. Eh... " That didn't really describe it, but at least it was something.

Jason watched the tiny girl, wearing a twisted look while he tried to figure it out. Bigger and older? He blinked as he tried to equate it to something. "Oh, so it's like saying mister or miss," He drew his conclusion. "That's a pretty backwards way to think of it. Though, maybe I'm the backward one on that," He muttered openly, rubbing his head while he waited for the clerk to total everything. "Anyway, you don't have to address me all formally and stuff. We're too far west to give that much of a dam; I mean, you don't do that with Vern and Dev, right? Just call me by my name."

He pulled out his wallet and paid for the total, handing Hana her own bag when he noticed a look on her face--neither thankful nor happy. "What's with the face? Seriously, you and your group of friends have this thing where I can't possibly be nice for no reason," He scolded mildly. "Look, Dev likes you enough and you trust him without hesitation. Just give me a shot! Despite the red hair, I'm not evil incarnate--got it?"
