Conditions: Each fighter can only use up to their Shikai release.
Setting: On the top of the outer gates of the seretei, and along the surrounding structures and rooftops.
Rules are fairly simple, so I guess let's get started. Ari has the honor of posting first, if you can call it that.

Ari sat, kicking his feet back and forth off the edge of the South Seretei gate, his hands placed behind him on the semi-circular clay shingles of the massive gate.
"Lie to me and I'll make you swallow 1000 needles..."
He hummed back and forth to himself, staring at Sokyaku hill, miles away, it still looked so disgustingly, horrifically, awfully beautiful. As if that made sense.
He removed his hand from the shingles and itched under his nose. Trying to hold back the nosebleed and hitting the Bolivian marching powder just moments before was sure to give him. He didn't care though, he was chilled out riding Haley's comet, snorting opiates off a switch blade
He was happy. Even if he had to pretend as if he was doing illegal drugs, and not just popping some of the tranquilizers given in the medical backpacks of squad 4. He leaned back further, the setting sun an awful stock painting.

Captain of Squad 5
Kidō Commander  Absently munching on a cookie, Amaranth ambled around the area with no apparent aim, although a closer examination would reveal an almost imperceptible angling towards an alternatively clothed Shinigami, basking in the amber light of the absconding sun. Nodding in greeting and exchanging some words with the few Shinigami still around, the captain of Squad 5 paused as the southern gate of Soul Society entered her line of sight, raising her purple eyes to start at the figure atop the gate for a moment before sighing.
Brushing away the few crumbs that had escaped annihilation, Amaranth moved forwards, rising higher through the air with each step, as if she was ascending an invisible staircase, adjusting the Zanpakuto by her side as she did so. As she reached the top of the gate, standing in the air a mere meter away from the other red-haired Shinigami, the Kido Commander tilted her head and examined the young man before her briefly, and then shaking her head before finally speaking, "If you were not already having second thoughts, now is your chance. Do you still intend to go through with this...?"
Running a pale hand through her reddish-brown hair, the setting sun making streaks of it blaze like fire, Amaranth shifted her position, moving a step back to put some distance between herself and the member of Squad 4, as a precaution should the man actually intend to fight. Gan'yū Status

Ari straightened his hand-made t-shirt as he got up. His arms slid out of his squad four jacket and fell at his sides. He tied the jacket around his waist,
and looked up.
"So I've been wondering this... how fast can you activate a kido, captain?"
He smirked, his face washing white with adrenaline as he erupted forward, his feet jolting into action, scrambling to provide the mobility and speed he desired. His right hand was flayed out from his waist, his left hand up in front of his chest, slightly open in a defensive pose. As, in a split second, he closed the distance between them, a switch blade unfolded from the inside of his hand. He licked his lips as he slashed at the woman's throat, what his Zanpakto lacked in reach, it made up for in speed. Weighing less than a pound and capable of fatality within moments. It was the perfect weapon for Ari.
Ari was close enough to touch chests with the captain. From this range, drawing her zanpakto would be impossible, as drawing it and aiming it towards him would require more time than he would let her have.
"Don't let it end here, all the other captains will laugh at you." He whispered as he brought his zanpakto up to her throat, in an attempt to cut it cleanly.

Captain of Squad 5
Kidō Commander Raising a red eyebrow in a combination of skepticism and confusion, Amaranth watched as Ari dashed forwards, seeming far too proud of the tactical ploy that is attacking head on. Waiting for him to close the gap, she held her position, though she used the time to build up the reiryoku required for the Kido in the meantime.
As her foe finally made it close enough to attack, lashing out with the small Zanpakuto in his hand, Amaranth raised her own hand, pointing a single finger at Ari. Frowning as he touched her chest, the Kido Commander unleashed her own attack, muttering "Hado #1: Sho", and releasing a concussive blast from the end of her finger, directed at the 4th Squad member's midsection. A level one Kido required almost no effort at all to unleash, at least... for Amaranth, and the technique itself was deceptively fast.
With Ari basically charging straight into the attack, and the fact that the Kido was released at practically point-blank range, it was virtually guaranteed to hit. Even before the outcome was determined, however, Amaranth's other hand was glowing yellow, and with a slight motion, a writing stream of light lashed out towards Ari, attempting to wrap around the Shinigami and bind his arms, "Bakudo #4: Hainawa." Ari had figured the captain would use a kido. A low level one which would require very little time to release. Such as Hado number 1. However, Ari wasn't completely relentless in his attacks. He'd anticipated something like that, which is why his left hand was placed the way it was, defensively, palm faced down, near his chest. As he saw her finger extend, he shoved his palm downward, and in unison, both Shinigami harmonized the word "Sho!" Using this at the ground vaulted Ari into the air above the captain. He was back to back with her, and with this he twisted around, piviting on his heel with his switch blade, using the momentum from his first strike to shiv her in her right kidney.
He had to admit though, the speed at which she could use a chain of kido was quick. Something Ari could never do, as his control of his own Reiatsu was awful, only allowing for a powerful Hado number 1, in which he could shove back enemies, and use it to evade attacks, or vault over objects. He was, however, capable of energy based attacks in which he focused his energy into one localized area, and then released it.

Captain of Squad 5
Kidō Commander Nodding with slight approval at her opponent's use of Kido, Amaranth didn't bother turning immediately as Ari vaulted over her head and landed in the air just behind her. Moving one hand just behind her back, index and middle fingers both extended, she released another basic Kido, designed to interrupt the fluid attack that her foe had begun. Without even, bothering with the Kido's name, Amaranth released Bakudo #1: Sai, sending a burst of invisible reiryoku rippling out behind her, right into Ari's path. Upon contact with the Kido, his arms would temporarily lock up, being forced to move behind his back, where they'd be held for a time.
Admittedly, there hadn't been much effort put into the attack, it was merely intended to move the knife away from her back, and perhaps make him force the blade into his own, and as a seated member, he'd likely be able to break out after only a second or two. Turning slightly, just so that she could see her foe out of the corner of her eye, Amaranth pointed at him once more, but instead of an unseen blast, the words "Hado #4: Byakurai" released a red bolt of lightning, which arced towards the knife-wielding Shinigami.
Wary of her foe escaping with Sho once more, the Kido Commander waved a hand towards Ari, this time using one of the Kaizo Kido, Tozasu Sai, sending another rippling burst of reiryoku which would glue the red-haired male's tongue to the roof of his mouth, preventing him from using Kido for a short time. Gan'yū Status

Ari furrowed his eyebrow when his arms flew behind his back, but he stood his ground, and just as she mumbled the incantation for Hado #4, he fell backwards on the ground, the bolt of lighting shooting right over his head. There was a flash of red light from her attack, and in that time, Ari had jumped to his feet and ripped his bindings off, revealing that the knife was no longer in his hand. Instead, his fists were glowing a faint, ghastly orange. He was compressing his spiritual energy on his fists, much like Shinigami do when they want to move faster, augment their natural abilities, with their spiritual ones.
Ari took a step forward, and threw a devastating right hook for the Captain's face, which would more than likely shatter her jaw if it made contact.

Captain of Squad 5
Kidō Commander Unconcerned that her foe had evaded another Kido, Amaranth watched patiently as he recovered from his fall with a quick motion, stashing his small Zanpakuto away somewhere before condensing reiryoku around his hands. Manipulating her own reiryoku, albeit for Kido rather than a physical attack, she focused the energy around her face, extrapolating the trajectory of her foe's fist and preparing a defense to match it.
Just before Ari's fist hit Amaranth's jaw, a small blue sphere, shrouded in wisps of yellow, appeared between her face and her opponent's hand, swiftly flaring into existence at her soft murmur, "Bakudo #8: Seki. Hado 11: Tsuzuri Raiden" Layering the defensive Bakudo with a potent electrical current, Amaranth ensured that the sphere was directly in the way of Ari's attack, ensuring that, unless he had some other means of quickly moving out of the way, he would strike it, taking the full force of the electric current in addition to being hurled backwards by the Bakudo.
Still standing in her original position, though she had turned slightly to the side, Amaranth tilted her head, staring at the red-haired Shinigami for a moment before simply stating, "Attacking head on is not going to work. Surely you have figured that out by now." Gan'yū Status

Ari smiled. Just like in chess, they'd have an exchange right now. She was going to take one of his pieces, and he was definintaly going to take one of her pieces. She hadn't moved, only made a protection on her face. He bent his wrist down so his attack would be aimed for her chest. She counted on being punched, and at this range and speed there was no way for him to stop the attack, simply, change its direction.
Ari had deceived her into thinking that he could only attack from head on, and that each of his attacks were only one part, but in reality, that's what he wanted her to think.
His fist lighted up as the energy around it condensed, he hoped slightly so there was no friction acting upon him other than gravity, and released his attack. The attack was not physical, but a spiritual attack, something he hadn't done yet.
"Tenohira bāningu! Burning Palm!" The energy around his palm flared, and released an incredibly condensed wave of reiryoku at his enemies chest. This attack had sent him flying back in the air, where, unable to correct his position, he hit the ground 25 feet away, the shingled digging into his body with slightly burns on his fist which steamed from his attack.
He smiled, on the ground. Because she had done exactly what he wanted her to do. Keep her position as she had, let him into her defenses, let him get into point blank range, and he took the chance to use deception. She must have thought that his attack was only a super charged punch. And now, at point blank range, his burning palm was sure to hit.
Unfortunately, Ari had slightly injured his left shoulder from the fall, but if his burning palm hit, that was sure to be worth it. And he was convinced it would. A point blank energy based attack. She was only shielding her face from an attack as well, so compressing her energy on her chest where his attack was made to hit would be some feat.
These types of attacks are the only attacks spiritual based he could do. He may not have control over his spiritual energy to the point where he could utilize Kido, but he had a massive pool of reiryoku to draw from.

Kidō Commander Amaranth blinked in surprise as the attack altered directions, from near point blank range. She hadn't expected someone of her opponent's level capable of such a quick change. With no time to prepare another quick Kido, Amaranth's eyes narrowed and a blast of energy shot outwards from her entire body, overriding her opponent's blast, but exerting much more energy than was required, the sheer release of energy being enough to send her skidding back a few steps. Still surprised at the attack, Amaranth's nose twitched, and then she tilted her head and looked down, staring at her singed uniform for a moment before looking up again, to reevaluate her foe.
Deciding to up the level of her attacks, moving from only using Kido below rank 20, Amaranth clicked her fingers, loudly saying "Bakudo #21: Sekienton", using the loud volume and the resulting smoke to conceal her attack. With a soft, barely audible murmurer, "Hado #23: Gurenbachi", the plump Shinigami swept her hand in a fluid motion, sending a dozen wasp-sized beads of fire hurtling out of the red smoke, and moving to swarm Ari, each one potent enough to engulf him in the resulting explosion. Shifting to the side, so that she was no longer in the last position that her foe had seen her in, Amaranth wrapped reiryoku around her body, the softly spoken words "Bakudo #26: Kyokko" twisting the light around her body and hiding both her physical form, and her spiritual pressure, from Ari. As the smoke cleared, blown away by the wind, Amaranth was nowhere to be seen, hidden by her Kido as she watched the Fourth Division member, interested in how he would react to the situation. Gan'yū Status

By the time the attack had made contact and she had time to recover, Ari was at his feet, chewing a piece of resin gum in his mouth and watching her, his body at a sassy slant, he held his switch blade in his hand until the very moment he saw her kido launch at him. He quickly closed his eyes and muttered a short incantation. He then sliced at the ground twice, causing a sharp upheavel of shingles and rock from the Southern gate to fly into the air in a large block of cement. This was soon covered in flames, and soon, smoke.
Ari jumped on top of the rock upheaval which was now scorched and melting in places, and waited for the captain to reveal herself, his left hard at the ground, and his right hand holding his switch blade off to the right in a fighting position. Alert.
Ari was lucky that the smoke clouded her vision, as the truth of what he did to cut such a large wall of cement from the ground would have been concealed. But what he knew Amaranth would know is that he used a Shikai pre-release. Not a full release, but a partial release used for one attack, which he had learned before he mastered his complete Shikai.
"Don't hide, Captain. You know right when you attack next I'll be able to see you. And I'm fairly certain my reaction time is faster than your Bakudo or Kido."
He smiled.

Kidō Commander Still unseen her her foe, Amaranth frowned at his cocky attitude, it wasn't difficult to react faster than the low level Kido she was using, and that was the only reason Ari was relatively unscathed. Raising her right arm, and pointing it straight up, leaving her palm facing the sky. Skipping the incantations, Amaranth unleashed three Kido spells in quick succession, "Bakudo #14: Amekaze, Hado #11: Tsuzuri Raiden, Hado #4: Byakurai."
A dark cloud seemed to appear from out of the blue, slight mist shrouded int he area and then darkening to black in mere moments, before unleashing a torrential downpour over the a large area, easily engulfing both combatants, the rain strong enough to restrict vision to a degree. As the cold rain struck the stone Ari was positioned upon, still red hot after being struck by Amaranth's previous attack, a huge plume of steam rushed upwards, cloaking the other Shinigami in a thick and hot mist.
Even as the cloud was forming, before the rain started to pour, Amaranth's other two Kido abilities were prepared and launched, with her hand being shrouded in a golden aura of electricity, which then wrapped around the lightning bolt of Byakurai as it launched skywards, into the cloud. Maintaining Tsuzuri Raiden to keep herself surrounded in a thin barrier of electricity, the pale redhead watched as the combined lightning attack struck the cloud, where it spread rapidly and quickly built up an even greater charge.
Already surrounded by an electrical current, the sudden barrage of lightning posed no problem to Amaranth, who had effectively formed a Faraday Cage around herself, ensuring that her own attack caused her no harm. Ari on the other hand, was now standing in the middle of a lightning storm, amidst a torrential deluge and holding bared metal. With the electric current visibly surrounding her body, and the onslaught of rain rushing over her, Amaranth dispelled Bakudo #26, removing the twisted light and making herself visible once more, as rolling thunder heralded the start of the lightning, and bolts starting to crash down from the clouds, all directed at Ari. It was a good move. He had to admit. Using the rain caused from the clouds to create a smoke screen from the smoldering stone around him. It was interesting, however, this also worked in reverse. Ari rationalized, after hearing thunder, that any kido that produced an attack which had the capability of attacking anywhere in a large radius must have been aimed at Ari, and not just released to strike anywhere it wanted. This, again, he would use to his advantage.
Ari closed his eyes and folded up his switchblade and tossed his head back, shoving it down his throat, and swallowing it, a massive lump sliding down his throat. The area around him shone a radiant orange.
"Consume and Adapt, Taberu Niku." He burped as his forearms exploded into a mass of blackened and calloused flesh, his biomass expanding into large tentacles around him, amorphous in nature, this raw flesh could be used to make a multitude of deadly weapons and shields.
"Heh. I saw this in a Green Lantern Comic on a trip to the Human world one time. I hope you like it." The blackened flesh extended out in front of him, forming two large totems spaced 6 meters apart and stabbign them into the ground beyond the block of cement he was standing on, with tendrils of blackened flesh of a different, rubbery consistency flowing from each totem, and to his arms. Smiling, he backed up, tension pulling at the totems, until he finally let go, shooting forward at an incredible speed, the totems having created a human slingshot from the rubbery version of his skin. A bolt of lightning fired off behind him, destroying the cement block.
Ari would be seen errupting from the smoke screen the Captain had created at an unbelievable speed, slingshotting himself into close combat with his opponent.
"Meteor Mallet!" Ari had a tendency to name some of the forms his attacks took. Not because they needed them, but because it seemed as if an attack wasn't complete without it.
Ari, while in his flight to the captain due to his sling shot, raised his tendril-like hand, and from his coagulated a massive mallet the size of an SUV, which he twisted his body and shot down towards the captain, using the Momentum of his slingshot to boost the destructive power of this physical attack.
On top of this, using the spiritual pressure reserves he now had, seeing as his he could maintain his release without the use of much energy, he released a thick cloud of spiritual pressure, which within 15 feet of Ari would render Shunpo all but useless. With this heavy haze around the captain, flash stepping would be severely reduced, seeing as she had more raw energy than he did.
Ari also had another motive with this attack. If the Captain's electricity attack would have more than one bolt of electricity attatched to it, than it would strike right next to the Captain, injuring her with her own attack, while Ari could defend himself and redirect the lighting using his Release form.

Kidō Commander Amaranth's eyes widened in surprise as her opponent released his Shikai, with his silhouette through the steam cloud revealing that both the method and the form were quite different to that of a normal Shinigami. Her purple eyes narrowed a moment later as she realised what the similarity was, the consumption of something, which then proceeded to alter the individual's body, it seemed more akin to a Hollow's technique than something a Shinigami would use.
Smiling slightly as she saw the pillars form, his flesh stretching out from the arms to create them, Amaranth raised both arms, still shrouded in an aura of electrified reiryoku, and once again unleashed some Kido. As Ari launched himself forwards, a blue sphere of energy formed before Amaranth, which launched six tendrils into the surrounding area, each latching onto the nearby buildings and stretching the orb into a elliptical elastic sheet. With the tendrils all positioned ahead of her, and the sheet pulled back like a slingshot, to mimic her foe, Amaranth released two Hado spells, and let go of the sheet.
First, a red sheen spread rapidly over the elastic Kido netting, flames beginning to rage over the surface as the volatile reiryoku ignited with a blast. Even as the fire roared into life, hissing but not faltering under the incessant rain, a small shockwave erupted from Amaranth's hands, flinging the flaming web of Kido hurtling forwards, into Ari's descending mallet of flesh, the reiryoku erupting into an explosion as the netting closed the distance with the mass of flesh. "Bakudo #37: Tsuriboshi, Hado #12: Fushibi, Hado #1: Sho."
Unleashing the barrage of Kido in quick succession, at a rate only a Kido Master could manage, Amaranth once again increased the maximum level of Kido that she was willing to unleash against her foe, this time in response to his release. The Kido Commander tilted her head slightly as the reiatsu around her increased, a surge of pressure erupting from the 4th Squad member that, while still inferior to a captain, was impressive for a 6th seat. Raising her right arm, Amaranth shifted the golden coating to condense around her hand, which was soon followed by another roll of thunder. Another bolt of lightning lanced down from the clouds, angling straight for Amaranth's hand, which it flowed around before joining with the field left behind by Tsuzuri Raiden, effectively coating her body in an amplified Byakurai, ready to be unleashed the next time Ari showed his face.
