Chance found the loud honking sirens and the blue flashing lights more entertaining than worrying. Nonetheless, he did pause in his playground adventures long enough to listen to the simple, firm message before going to the swing set again.
Swinging comfortably back and forth, he let his thoughts wander. He found himself thinking more and more about the earlier announcement. Now, he didn't usually care about the things other people liked to make a fuss over, but this Manifest on the loose sounded interesting. He didn't think he was going to be very good at not causing undue stress. Then again, when has he let that stop him?
Decision made, Chance left the playground in favor of parking himself on a bench by the apartment complex's main entrance. The first few to pass through the doors under his vigilant gaze wore tense, even fearful faces as they walked into the building, more intent on finding safety and shelter than on searching for the missing Nightmare and eggs. Still, he remained optimistic. Sooner or later, someone who wanted to go outside would show up. Whenever they showed up, he would be ready to waylay them and foist his company on them.
In the meantime, he waited, trademark grin on his face.
