Which percentage is necessary to ratify a vote of the council
Galactic Messenger On a side note, I'd like to thank the council for allowing me to remove the TV, however this alien head is ridiculous!

65% I feel 75% is just too high of a threshold as we rarly get above 70% if we're even close. I had originally voted for 60% but raised my vote as many in the council have called for a higher threshold. I do still feel that 70% is too high to achieve. 65% is about 2/3's of the members and a significant majority, I urge other members to join me and vote for 65%

I say 75%. 65% would mean that about 1/3 of the planets don't agree with the action. That's a significant amount! If we can't reach 75%, then compromises will have to be made to get there. If there was an 80% option, then I would vote for it. You will certainly be hearing from me if we go with something as low as 65%. That would just be unfair to even a slight minority group.

65%
Thing is, we're not all going to agree on anything, and if the vote's too high, nothing would pass. I'd vote 60%, but no one else would, so I'm going next-best.

Wow. So you guys don't care about being shoved out of the way if you and an entire third of the council disagrees with the action? I believe that that's just a bit shortsighted. Maybe we won't disagree on something, but we can reach compromises in between. After all, we're diplomats.

But how long will it take to reach decisions? Currently we're operating on a touch-and-go basis - we need a quicker system.

angel of plot twists But how long will it take to reach decisions? Currently we're operating on a touch-and-go basis - we need a quicker system. So that not everyone will get a say in it? If we go too quickly, people will fall behind if they're gone for a week or so. For instance, I'll be gone in August and probably April for 10 days. What are you guys going to do while I'm gone? Go onto Mortus and strip it of its resources because 2/3 of the people thought it would be a good idea? Sorry, but no.

That would be infringing upon the planet's rights - we can't make decisions specifically affecting a planet if their delegate is away, or something. Actually, I think I may suggest that as a law. And we wouldn't necessarily leave it that way. Just until we get the whole thing set up properly.

We'll just do it for now, we'll be able to change it later. Yeah, right. rolleyes
