They're so cute!!
Here's mine, her name is Midnight Song! She was originally and alicorn, but people refused to play nice with her because they made immediate assumptions that I was trying to make an over-powered OC when really I made her when I was new to the fandom, didn't know how much blind hate alicorn OC's generated, and couldn't choose between unicorn or pegasus, so I changed her to a unicorn so people would at least give her a chance:

I have perhaps eight in total; two that I use regularly with completely fleshed out backgrounds and characters (Sunny and Chen; though technically Chen isn't a pony...), three that have their characters made but have just a little bit more hammering out to do (Stark White, Prism Splash and Professor Diggs), two that have names and ponies for but have no character or story designs for yet (Crimson Flash and Cobalt Streak) and one big bad that has a background and fleshed out character but I haven't decided on how I want him to look just yet (High Lord Noctus, a purebred vampony).

Hehe, so your original ponysona got a little Alicorn hate too? I changed mine (Sunny Day) to a Unicorn as well and gave her a loophole that allowed her flight without wings; it only works for middle eastern ponies though as it requires the use of a Magic Carpet (which I called an Andalusian Rug before Saddle-Arabia was added to the canon locales).

I've been itching for a decent MLP roleplay for almost 6 months now... Sadly, whenever I join a guild or start up a private RP; they never tend to pan out... crying

Good Lord, she got so much hate! I thought about keeping her an Alicorn and having her hide it using magic (considering one would assume a non-royal Alicorn would be met with suspicion, being the only other Alicorn we currently know the ponies know of would be Queen Chrysalis) and going about like that, still am really, but I the only issue is she'd still be met with hate when anyone found out. I planned for her Alicorn-ness being credited to genetics on the fanon belief that "Alicorn" was once a race like unicorn or pegasus. I figure if there were enough in her ancestry, it could crop up again. Anyway...
Oh my goodness, a MLP role play! I'm very excited! The only time I've ever tried looking for one is was concerning ships. Yes, yes, I know they're ridiculous, and I don't deny that there's no (canon) support for either, but I ship FlutterMac and BraeShy. Weird, right? I just think they'd be adorable, Big Mac and Fluttershy both being rather quiet and reserved while Fluttershy and Braeburn are sort of opposites with their kindness. But I'm rambling, if you'd like I'll PM you and we can work out the details ^_^

Hehe~! I always though that explanation on pony genealogy was a bit funny; it reminded me of the explanation that they gave on the Anime / Manga: One Piece, concerning the Fishmen and Mermaids. When I first heard it the question that came to mind was that 'if that's the case, then couldn't it be possible for an Alicorn to be born to anypony?' Speaking of which, we never really meet Cadence's parents...
As for shipping, I was never really much of a fan... and my dislike really only got worse as the last guild I was in seemed to want to do nothing but. I'd get irritated with them cause they spent more time playing battle-'ship' than they did role playing.
In any case, you're more than welcome to send a PM. And if you want to roleplay with your character as an Alicorn then feel free; I have no problem with it as long as her powers are within reason. I think primarily that's why people have such problems with Alicorns as well; as the general populace tends to think any fan-made Alicorn is going to be a Mary-Sue.

Oh, I know how that is =_=; Some people get ridiculous if you don't ship their ship or, God forbid, ship one of their shipped characters with somepony else! However, I've never caught much grief, generally reminding them that it's a cartoon and that their ships have no ground to stand on either usually ends it rather quickly...
So yeah! I'll send that PM and we can get to it!
