How was the clan founded?:
- Seven hundred years ago, after joining the original Gotei one hundred years prior, Kokoro the Kenpachi of Soul Society, having no family origins, began taking in homeless and abandoned children from Rukongai. These children were all orphans who possessed early signs of spiritual control. After acquiring ten children over the course of five short years, Kokoro took refuge outside of Seiretei in the mountains to train these younglings the arts of Reapers.
Taking up the name "Tennyou" originating from "Tennyo" meaning "celestial angel", Kokoro officially formed that House of Tennyou.
The ten original children each were taught the arts of Karate and Pi Gua Quan by Kokoro herself whom was a master in both hand arts. The small clan of only eleven was not recognized as Nobles since it's founder was a notorious killer.
As the children began to mature, Kokoro employed them to the other Noble Houses as personal body guards. Since the academy had not been formed at this point in history, the ten children did not join the Gotei instead choosing to watch over Rukongai and work as body guards for the Nobles. Kokoro, now well into her captaincy, began to take in more children entrusting the ten prior members to train them in the Tennyou hand arts of Karate and Pi Gua Quan.
As the Ash War approached the clan was put on guard by Kokoro to protect the Rukongai citizens with their lives.
After the Ash War, the Tennyou Clan gained major credibility for defending the citizens of Rukongai.
When their leader was appointed to lead the Gotei, the Tennyou were now considered a Noble Clan due to their leader holding the title of Captain-Commander and because of their famed hand-to-hand arts.
They house the Royal Canon that links the Royal Guard to Seiretei.

- Since Kokoro helped create the Jushin Way arts, the Tennyou children are taught the Jushin Way at a young age so that they may be knowledgeable of the Kido art well into their adult lives.
The Tennyou specialize in various hand-to-hand arts like Karate and Pi Gua Quan. By channeling their reiryoku into their fists and hands, the users of Pi Gua Quan or Karate gain a immense increase in physical strength known so "The Tennyo". It is not a Kido based technique, rather an advanced form of Hakudo known only by the Tennyou. The control over the reiryoku system is a renowned ability in this clan.
