The huge rainforest that covers much of the area to the south. It is extremely warm here and recieves alot of rain. The air is usually heavy and humid as well. This is the territory of the Ampitheres, who blend in perfectly with the jungle.

The largest variety of land plants and animals reside here. Trees and flowers of every type and color grow here, florishing in the wet weather. The animals are usually smaller, though there are a few larger ones, such as leopards. Most of the animals have wild and bright coats to help them blend in.

Places within the Southern Rain Forest:

The amphithere shook her wetted scales, as more rain pounded down on her. The storm brought out the various scents of the forest. As far as Kaida could tell, she had smelled bird droppings and a particularly aromatic flower. She was coiled upon a large fan-shaped leaf, looking much like a vibrant flower herself. Her wings folded gently to her side, raindrops sliding off of the neatly-groomed feathers.

A flash of blue caught her attention. She moved her focus to the blue glint, but her body remained still. A bright, flourecant-almost, beetle had landed beside her, completely unaware of the danger.

In one sudden strike, the young amphithere snapped the beetle up into her jaws, and muched on the crunchy insect with glee.

A low chuckle floated among the raindrops. "That'ssss quite an impressssive catch, chicklet." Jessai chortled as he slithered up next to Kaida. He delighted in the rain, in ever aspect of it. He loved the wetness, the smell of the damp earth, and the added challenge of flying with wet wings.

He halted some distance away, not wanting to frighten the youngling.

She glanced to her side, wings widespread, a little surprised by the voice. After noticing that it was in fact another amphithere, and of roughly her size, she tucked her wings back at her sides and advanced carefully.

"I've never ssseen you here before," Kaida circled Jessai curiously, sniffing examining the amphithere.

Jessai chortled again. Fearless, this one. "I'm a hunter," he said twisting and flexing his dark scaled body. "Being unssseen isss the point," he finished as he twisted himself into a rather complex knot of scales and feathers.

He peered at her with an intense yellow gaze, then flicked out his yellow tongue to touch the youngling on her scaled snout by way of greeting. "I had been ssspending time on Macaw Island. Playing tag with the loud birdsss isss quite a challenge. Do you like tag, little one?"

He unwound himself, only to coil into a serpentine spring shape. "Where are my mannerssss. I'm Jessai," he anounciated clearly on his name, careful not to roll the sibilants, "self-proclaimed massster of tag, hide-n-ssseek, and hunter to the clan." He flared his wings and crest, dipping his head into a bow.

The young amphithere slid slightly backwards, trying desperately to seem unafraid,"I'm Kaida."

She spreads her dampened wings and shook the raindrops off. They were no use to her yet, except for that they made her appear larger than she actually was.

"It's not just you..I've never seen any of my kind before," she continued. Her timid behaviour was due to the part of her not knowing any other amphithere. Her natural instict upon meeting anything larger than her, was to obviouly find an escape route. But somehow, Jessai didn't trigger such a response.

He chortled, amused that Kaida seemed to be afraid of him. He'd always considered himself quite handsome with his dark scales. "Do not be frightened. There are worssse thingsss than I in thisss world of oursss." He folded his wings tight against his body, trying to appear less massive.

"You have not met other ssserpentsss sssuch asss usss?" That didn't really puzzle him. Once they'd passed the chick stage, most amphithere parents considered their rearing of their children complete. "Well, the forest isss verra large." A large raindrop splattered upon his feathered head and he laughed. "And verra wet too."

Jessai turned to the youth, yellow eyes dancing with eagerness. "Would you like sssome company? We could go to my tree. Much drier there." He nodded in his eagerness.

Kaida eyed the amphithere, doubt started to surface within her. But she tried to surpress it, If he wanted to eat me, I suppose he'd have already gone through with it by now.. She fluttered her wings again, splashing droplets of water all around her.

"Yes pleasse, I think I'd like that," she bobbed her head up and down graciously. It was still hard to comprehend meeting Jessai. Kaida had never met another amphithere, and had just thought herself as another type of bird all this time.

Jessai brightened. He loved to show off, and the opportuity to show off his dwelling warmed him inside, despite the damp of the rain. One day, he'd show it to a female and she'd be so stunned, he could woo her right then and there.

Well, he was showing it to a female, but Kaida was a bit young for him to consider her as a potential mate just yet. And what if she didn't like to play tag? He couldn't have a mate who was adverse to such games.

"Come, come!" he said, slithering along the rainslicked branch. As he reached the end, he propelled himself to the next with a leaping flap of his wings, the only way a legless creature such as he could really jump. He turned, coiling and uncoiling his tail in his excite me. "Over here!"
