Doghouse Reilly Macklemore's best when he's goofy. His serious stuff comes off as super preachy. how is it preachy though? whenever i find songs like this that tell stories i always get immersed in the emotions of the song.

Yeah, but it's a story he's told many other times. It's a message. well if it is, its pretty effective. Hey, everyone has their own tastes, but I personally find it very off-putting. I'm okay with an addiction story if it's told in a particularly interesting way, but Macklemore plays it out in a pretty predictable, trauma-porn format, from my point of view.
