It is very important for visitors to read every word that I post in the first page of this thread. It will probably answer a lot of your questions. Here goes.
---~~//~~---
It is all very well to say that individuals must wrestle with their consciences—but only if their consciences are awake and informed. Industrial society, alas, hides animals’ suffering.
Few people would themselves keep a hen in a shoebox for her egg-laying life; but practically everyone will eat smartly packaged, “farm fresh” eggs from battery hens.
There’s a schizoid quality to our relationship with animals, in which sentiment and brutality exist side by side.
Half the dogs in America will receive Christmas presents this year, yet few of us pause to consider the miserable life of the pig—an animal easily as intelligent as a dog—that becomes the Christmas ham.
> Few of you know the intensity of what I'm saying because it's much more powerful when you see it happening. I know that most of you are scoffing and thinking I'm a rediculous tree-huggin liberal as you read this. But you know what? I don't care. I don't care whether you call yourself a vegitarian, a vegan, or an asparagus. I care whether you life in accord with your values, whether your life has integrity and purpose, whether you act with compassion for yourself and for all of life. > I don't care whether your diet is politically correct. I care whether your food choices are consistant with your love. I care whther they bring you health, uphold your spirit, and help you fulfill your true nature and reasons for being alive. > The truth, as has been said countless times, will set you free. But what is said less often is that sometimes it first will make you confront habits of behavior and thought that might be limiting you, so that you might ttain awareness to use your freedom for the benifit of your greater self and all of life.
Read on, please...
---~~//~~---~~//~~---
I have a dream...
...To ensure the changed conciousness of ourselves and the world, and to living a sustainable and compassionate lifestyle, which does no harm to the other human beings, animals, or the beautiful Earth on wihc we live.
The revolution sweeping our relationship to our food and our world, I believe, is part of an historical imperative. This is what happens when the human spirit is activated. One hundred and fifty years ago, slavery was legal in the United States. One hundred years ago, women could not vote in most states. Eighty years ago, there were no laws in the United States against any form of child abuse. Fifty years ago, we had no Civil Rights Act, no Clean Air or Clean Water legislation, no Engangered Soecues Act, Tidatm nukkuibs if oeioke are refusing to buy clothes and shoes made in sweatshops and are seeking to live healthier and more Earth-friendly lifestyles. In the last fifteen years alone, as people in the Untited Staes have realized how cruelly veal calves are treated, veal consumption has dropped 62 percent.
I don't believe we are isolated consumers, alienated from what gives life, and condemned to make a terrible mess of things on this planet. I believe we are human beings, flawed, but learning, stumbling, but somehow making our way toward wisdom, sometimes ignorant, but learning through it all to live with respect for ourselves, for each other, and for the whole Earth community.
Wounded and human as we are - we can still create a thriving and sustainable way of life for all. The restorative powers of both the human body and the Earth are immense.
When I walked away from meat and dairy eating, I did so because I knew there was a deeper dream. I did it because I knew that with all the reasons that each of us has to despai and become cynical, there still beats in our common heart, our deepest prayers for a better life and a more loving world.
When I look out into the world, I see the forces that would bring us disaster. I see the deep night of unthinkable cruelty and blindness. But I also look within the human heart and find something of love there, something that cares and shines out into the dark universe like a bright becon. And in the shining of that light, I feel the dreams and prayers of all beings. In the shining of that becon, I feel all of our hopes for a better future, and the strength to do what we are here to do.

RULES
Members really need to pay attention to this, of course. I'm going to add to the homepage of the guild to fill out this form that all the original members were asked to when it was just a thread in the Guild forum:
What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: My age (optional): How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future:
Besides the no-brainers, like cybering, spamming, begging, etc, I ask that you would please refrain from flaming. That means, not only don't flame vegans/vegetarians and their beliefs, but don't start arguments. Debating and asking questions is different.
This guild will probably not always be on topic. It's also a place just to hang out, chat, and catch up with friends.

Banners The One Stop Sig Spot By Vampo Rainze. heart By AgentNerve. heart From Miyuru, by goveg.com. heart (I know it's not technically a banner, but it's very informing. Adding the link to the image would make it work.)* From Miyuru, by Kyoot. heart *(Same as the one above this image.) Anyone else willing to make and donate a banner to the guild would be loved. It would really make life easier if anyone would cut the url images smaller by snipurl or tinyurl. I personally can't because it's too much of a hassle on my Windows '95. sweatdrop

Everyone from the old thread guild in the guild forum, please (I hope this isn't too much to ask, but there isn't many pages to look through) post your answer to the form that can be found under "rules" on this sticky. This old thread-guild can be found here.
All who are new, just fill it out and post it like everyone else. ^_^ Thanks, you guys.

yesnomaybeso999 Um, I don't mean to intrude but how do we get a banner? (I like the Veggies= yummy Vegetrains=friends) Right-click on the image, select 'properties', and the link address should be there. Place that in between and you're all set! 3nodding
If you want it clickable, put the link address where it says LINK HERE: , and then put the image where the comma is.

i shall be making another banner soon.. gonna be using lyrics again.. these are a few that i've thought of using so far.. take a looksee: "why not consider someone else: STOP CONSUMING ANIMALS." "And I'm not ashamed of my recurring dreams about me and a gun and a different species (hint: starts with ";h"; and rhymes with ";Neuman's" wink of carnage strewn about the stockyards, the factories and farms." (EVIL ONE! LoL) "I have recognized one form of oppression, now I recognize the rest. And life's too short to make another's shorter" "I'm eating vegetation cos of fast food nation." and if anyone wants to use this in their profile.. i took an image capture.. it's pretty good but i need to get a better cap program that has no ad..

Just here to paste the request form that "I Smell Sex and Candy" typed out.
What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: I think it's rad. We don't NEED to mistreat animals etc to live, so why bother?
What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: No meat. I still eat fish occasionally though but I plan on trying to go Vegan in a little while.
My age (optional): 16
How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: My friends were going to try it, so I checked out peta's website and decided to do it too. I was a vegetarian for over a year before certain circumstances led to apathy for everything. Now I'm a vegetarian again. XD
What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future: I've seen more and more vegetarians/vegans recently so I'm hopefull about that, also I have a teacher who (when she eats meat) only eat organic meat so that's good. I think eventually the markets will notice this and from there I don't know what's going to happen.

Join Request From: inblood_isoak Joining Reason: What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: It's really not about them being eaten for me. It's the process. How animal factories and slaughter houses is the cruelest thing in my imagination. What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: Soy, no pork, no milk, no beef, currently pending on poultry. My age (optional): 13 How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: with the help of PETA What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future: I really just hope animals are basicly treated with respect.

Join Request From: Sweettweet#1 Joining Reason: What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: well first of all i am a vegetarian and i think it is awesome and i would never eat or harm animals in my life.
What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: vegetables mostly, junkfood (sometimes), fruits, whole wheat stuff etc.
My age (optional): 13
How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: My culture is orignally vegeterian.
What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future: i think that people will be less chance getting dieseases from cancer and such. people will live longer and be much healthier since they have not digested all the fat that is from animals. therefore people will lead a much healthier and a happier life.
