I have an idea for a story to explore to get me back into the habit of writing, but beyond the concept, I've already hit a snag.
The basic concept is to explore the consequences of bullying. The setup is going to be that a high school kid is referred to a person for counseling following an assault on said kid.
My snag is that I want the counselor and the kid to be different genders. I just don't know which should be which.
As such, I bring this to you. Which is typical: the kid is male and the adult female, or the reverse? Which is usually more interesting? Or should I just write both and see what happens?
The narrative style, regardless of the gender setup, will be third person limited, alternating between the two.
