Though the console has been released for several months now, there are those of us who still have not acquired one and may want to know more about it, and there may be others who wish to share their own personal experiences with it! Feel free to discuss anything related to the Wii U here, including how you think it's improved upon the Wii, how it compares to other big name consoles (like the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One), etc.

I'm pretty much on the fence about the Wii U. I haven't heard anything super enthralling about it, so I'm hesitant to get one. However, things might start to pick up later this year. I'm a huge Wind Waker fan, and those new HD visuals look pretty nice wink and might convince me to buy the console this fall.

We're pretty much waiting until WW HD as well, as we haven't felt like we needed one yet, really. We might not even get WW HD right away, but we'll see. I at least want it in time to get Super Smash Bros. and the new Zelda, of course. I'm pretty sure my brother feels the same, so we're just gonna kind of see how it works out. xD

I just can't bring myself to get a Wii U when next gen. consoles will offer so much more. If I don't get any of the above, I'll just go with a 3DS, since my 1st gen. DS (The weird chunky silver ones) recently broke. sad

I hardly use our Wii to play anything but Smash Bros. and Skyward Sword. Some nice games have come out for Wii U but nothing I care for all that much.
I'm impressed your "Phat" (original DS nickname wink ) lasted so long! I had one of those up until about three years ago and then it started glitching out on me. I got a DS Lite because I wanted a system that could still play GBA games, which the 3DS can't. I feel lucky to even have a 3DS, it was a generous gift <3

By next generation, I meant the Xbox One and PS4. I feel that Nintendo is lagging quite a bit behind Sony and Microsoft right now... But who knows? Hopefully in the future they might get caught up.
Is that what people call it? a Phat? Well it's quite suiting. If I do upgrade, I will miss being able to play Pokemon Sapphire. Although since my DS is broken, I guess my Sapphire days are over either way. rofl

I'm not sure I can say how I feel about how Nintendo is doing in comparison to Sony and Microsoft because I really don't key in to much from the latter two. I do get the impression though that their accessibility and gaming library are quite impressive.
That's what I'd heard back in the day xD. I think it suits it well too. And if you have GBA Pokemon Sapphire, you could still play it if you got a DS Lite! I believe you can still find them at certain retailers or Amazon at least! I love mine and the quality of the system is so much better than the original DS.

I know that the Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U all are eighth gen. consoles, but I feel that the former 2 are going to lead the competition. Don't get me wrong, I think the Wii U is a great console with some cool features, but I personally don't believe it will be able to compete with the other two once they are released.
I just might have to look into getting a DS Lite in the future, Thanks!

I just might have to look into getting a DS Lite in the future, Thanks! Gotcha. I get the feeling that the PS4 at least is definitely going to dominate the market, but I wonder about the Xbox One...with all the backlash I've heard it's been getting since E3 I wonder if it hasn't lost a little bit of pre-sale ground. Though I really just don't know. I also think it's possible that with the upcoming releases of Wind Waker HD, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros and other big name titles, the Wii U will probably put up a decent fight (I get the impression that lots of people, like myself, are waiting to get one until such titles come out).
Not at all, whatever the case I hope it works out for you!
