Appearance:Jasper is not very tall. He's only five feet ten inches. His hair is a dark brown almost black color and is often styled. He has been known to occasionally grow a beard or mustache but nothing too hairy. His body is not extremely muscular but he is rather strong for his appearance.
Jasper generally looks rather handsome when he cleans up, but often he's rushing or isn't in the mood for a number of reason and doesn't try very hard. Rarely will you see him not wearing a suit under his robes. He has many different kinds though and an assortment of ties as well. His shoes are always polished. When he is not wearing a suit, he generally wears a tight fitting t-shirt in black or white, and slacks or jeans.
Speaking Style: Normally his low British/Scottish mixed accent is calm, low, and smooth, but sometimes when he gets really excited he speaks really fast, the pitch raises slightly, and his Scottish side comes out and you can hardly understand a word.
Demeanor:Jasper seems like an approachable and fun guy, but he really is only like that around his friends. He can be slightly shy or timid around new people which might be strange for a professor but he gets over it when he's teaching. He's also very serious though when it is necessary, and many students find him weird or odd.
Best Qualities:Jasper is extremely intelligent and diligent. He was top of his class when he went to Hogwarts and continues his thrive for knowledge to this day. He won't let something get in his way and follows through on promises and work. The professor is also a great listener to those that need a friend. He wishes there had been someone that listened to him when he was young and tries to help others the way nobody helped him.
Worst Qualities/Flaws:Occasionally Jasper can get cocky with his intelligence and loves to prove he is more intelligent than somebody. He's also a very nervous person at times primarily due to his visions. Often he fears they may come at the worst of times or when he sees something about somebody he doesn't know how to act. Furthermore, Jasper has a case of ADHD or is easily distracted by thoughts or something going on whether it's the weather or a student tapping his desk or his visions sometimes Jasper cuts off mid sentence.
History:Jasper was born in Scotland to a single mother whom he can hardly remember. He only lived with her for a few years. You see, she struggled to find work and could not provide for both of them and therefore took him to an orphanage hoping a family may adopt him and give him a better future.
Little did they know that Jasper's father was a wizard with a special gene that decided to express itself in Jasper; the seer gene. Jasper was a very intelligent boy but never had many friends. He always felt out of place and felt like he was different. As he grew older strange things began to happen around him, unexplainable things such as things blowing up or his bullies ending up harmed in some way. That wasn't it, he would also see little flashes of things that were going to happen. When he acted on such things or when a vision was happening, people thought he was crazy. Due to all that was occurring, very few families even considered adopting him. Jasper spent a few visits in foster homes but nothing long lasting.
Jasper had seen many visions about an alternate life where he used a wand and practiced magic. Of course, he believed these to just be dreams and his imagination. When the truth was revealed, Jasper was very relieved. He wasn't so abnormal after all. Although his visions were still not explained, and Jasper was afraid to ask about them. At Hogwarts, Jasper felt at home. He was sorted into Ravenclaw and finally grew to make friends. He was especially great at charms and defensive spells. It was his Charms professor that took an increased interest in him and discovered his Seer abilities. He helped hone these skills and introduced Jasper to the divination professor whom Jasper never did like much.
Jasper had difficulty embracing his gift. He found it to be a burden and a huge responsibility. He also believed it at times to be a curse. Many times these visions occur at inopportune moments and would impede his learning and life. They also caused headaches and dread at what may come to be. Furthermore, he believed that people wanted to take advantage of him to try and see their futures which Jasper thought to be in conflict with nature. One should not know what is going to happen.
In his final year at Hogwarts, the ministry took a great interest in his abilities and offered him a position. With little enthusiasm Jasper went to work for the ministry after graduating under the encouragement of his professors and friends. After just a few years, Jasper felt worn out and knew he hated his job and had to get out. He felt exploited at the ministry.
He then settled down for a few years to do some research. During this time Jasper invented a few protection charms (he had always been excellent at charms), and was able to work more on controlling his visions, something nobody ever bothered to worry about. Jasper learned to feel them coming and even to sometimes suppress them, but of course they can sneak through his barriers.
Jasper had a revelation at the age of 26. He realized that he did not want to spend his life researching alone in solitude. He wanted to return to the one place he has felt at home in his life; Hogwarts. He finally realized that all along he wanted to teach at Hogwarts and he had let himself get veered from his path by others. When he was in school he had wanted to become a professor, but the ministry offered him that job and everybody encouraged him to pursue that outstanding opportunity.
After contacting the Headmistress, the position of Charms professor was secured for Jasper once the old professor retired. Two years later he returned to Hogwarts and settled down ready to embark on his destined path. He has now been working at Hogwarts for nine years and loves what he does.
Wand: His wand is ten inches and is made of Rowan wood, Phoenix Feather core, and is described as being Slightly Springy. The wand is emblazoned with a deep blue color in a swirl pattern along the handle.
Hobbies:Jasper enjoys learning and reading. Even at his age there are still so many things to learn about. He likes to keep his mind busy. When his mind is dormant he is most vulnerable to visions. He also enjoys wizards chess, camping, and watching (not playing) quidditch.
