still under construction but come on in! Hi, my name is Tato and welcome!
The main focus of this booth is to help teach others and even myself how to be a better artist in multiple aspects.
Along with learning I also want a friendly hangout where artists and art lovers can have friendly conversation and critiques with each other.
Starting on the third post I will include tutorials, references, words of wisdom and just words because I don't know what I'm talking about. It will be categorized so it will be easy to find the section that would help you the best.
Here and there I might give away freebies (:
Finally, if you want to commission me I am open for [rl commissions]
don't steal art and have a good attitude
good attitude means being nice to people but also not calling yourself terrible or bad just because you are learning (: Everyone should feel good about themselves when they draw especially when you're putting the effort into improving

Table of ContentsPlease be aware that these guides are embedded with my personal view on certain aspects of art, they are not right nor wrong, but merely a perspective.
You are certainly free to agree or disagree but please be respectful in doing so. Please also realize that I only had a week to prepare these short guides, as I have been working on commissions and a few different projects which involve my comic D-Vita and some others yet to be revealed. General Artist GuidesGuides that are my opinion towards art that also contain paraphrased words from my college teachers and words from fellow artists. Advanced (psh overachievers)
- Where do I go from here?

Absolute Beginners How To Begin?
The requirement to fit into the beginner category can encompass someone who has never viewed a work of art, to someone who has been in complete adoration of works done by various artists whom they hold high esteem and respect for. Simply put, you are a Beginner if you do not consider yourself a doodler or your drawings per month ratio is super low. (D.P.M. is the new K.D.R. yeah I play too many video games)
So you're a beginner, well one thing figured out!
Now before you embark on the long harsh journey of pursuing art, which involves creating work to recognize mistakes which causes destruction a.k.a. the eraser, in turn leading to reform over and over again in a perpetual standoff to figure out what makes the picture look good you need to understand that there is no right or wrong.
What I'm trying to say is accept it. You. will. never. be. perfect.
Now don't be appalled or devastated by reading this. In actuality this is a good thing. If there is no perfection then the ability to continue to improve is endless and pursuing art will never get boring. This also means that you shouldn't feel bad about not being "good" or having things look "right" I can provide you with a multitude of examples of different artists' work that highly differ from a lot of standard opinions that involve "being correct" or "right"
click these>> pablo picasso and Francis Bacon
However, you also must realize that if you do have a preconception of how a piece of art should look before you begin working on it you will have an opinion of "this looks right" or "this looks wrong" the ability to think like this allows you to improve but you cannot let yourself be discouraged by it.
A lot of patterns I see from new artists is that they think they're too bad at drawing or art before they even begin.
To me I see art like any other activity. Lets use running as an example.
You're going to suck at running and have to stop continuously for a breather if you do not do it constantly. Also, you cannot simply run a marathon even after running a few miles everyday. Even with having had practice, one must simply build up to that challenge. The same is like art. Where if you don't practice you will definitely not improve and you can't expect yourself to be able to draw a masterpiece with backgrounds and people and colors without building up to that point. Which means sketches and studies are a key to improving yourself.
doodle all the time everywhere anywhere! notebooks, sketchbooks on your face on your friend's face, on a wall (but careful some walls are illegal) on scraps on wood on report cards you will never show your parents, on tests (warning this will not help boost test scores).
Anywhere! at home, in your room, at school, during class, in buses, in the rain, in trains, in planes, in Ukraine! (rhymes!)
With anythang! pencils, pens, paint, dirt, chocolate smears, stains (careful, certain stains can seem sketchy), markers, tablet pen, crayons, crumbs, leftovers from dinner that you just won't eat and much more.

The Modest Novice How To Progress
You've been drawing for a while, your notebooks and any scraps are covered in a plethora of random doodles from yesterday's math class-- joke's on Mr. Stanley, I wasn't doing those ridiculous calculus problems that, despite what he'd hope, is useless to me and my everyday life-- that you can't make any sense of. You can confidently say your D.P.M. (Drawings Per Month) is hacker tier as there are just too many doodles here and there to count.
So what now?
I keep doodling, I don't think I'm improving, why won't Ms. Snuffles look like the beautiful looking marvel of a princess I can only hope for her to be?
Well, I don't know. You need to be more specific!
When trying to work on problems with your pieces or even helping others with their own drawings-- why does it feel just a bit off, or there's still something not right with this-- then you have to be able to become an unbiased viewer. Look at your art in the eyes of someone who has never seen works by you or your friend, who don't know you / them or the possible background story of the image and just make a list of facts that you observe from it.
For Example
This is a drawing I did around 2010 or 2009 of my OC Pelae with her ice boots.
Viewing this can you discern the facts about this image?
●The back of her head seems flat ●Her buttocks curves at a strange angle the kind that I do not personally want in a buttocks. ●Transparency of the boots make the boots look like ice. ●Her back is curving up which is contrary to the standard anatomy of humans.
and more
Now you take this information and figure out if they need to be changed or if its good.
for example:
● the transparency of boots is a good thing so make sure to keep that ● however the back of her head looks flat and I do not want a flat back of a head so I will make it more round
After this process, (and a few years) I redid this piece... ironically I didn't make the boots transparent, I actually forgot xD but if I redraw this image again I will know what I need to fix.
