Jack Russel
The sky was black illuminated only by the green and blue lights which danced above the sky as if the war of Deus Ex had little effect on the world in a planetary sense and it didn't. But to Earth which was just a spec of dust in the galaxy of the milky way which is even smaller to the infinite universe it seemed as if nothing had happened but on Earth it was all that mattered. The war raged across all continents and quickly consumed to Earth. Little resistance lied in wake of the massive Helldiver army and fewer still had any hope of really fighting back.
Even for the Challenger unit which funded program A.R.M had slowly began to lose the war after all there was only eight mechs in the possession vs millions in the Helldivers despite how much more advanced they were even the previous pilots had lost against them and now all that remained of the original group was Daniel Hawthorn even more broken than he was only some few months ago. Now all that remained was the young blonde girl Ellaina and Jack Russel himself.
Frost escaped his mouth as he pulled off the armored helmet that was standard issued to all Challenger members even those in Project A.R.M. The suit wasn't very uncomfortable and it was warm enough with a multitude of convenient biological and physical upgrades. Jack ran his fingers through his mid length multi colored hair as he watched the young girl sit down in the snow which reflected the very light which hung above the two in the sky. It was freezing outside and he was sure she would not argue with him on the fact of it. However the two could not set a fire to keep them warm as they sat and waited on the mission to commence at precisely midnight. Jack pressed a button on the wrist of his suit and instantly a projection of what was basically a computer screen was set out in front of him to check the time. He let out a sigh as the holographic screen vanished. "We've still got an hour till we need to get back in to Rogue." The young man said his was deep however it was soft and caring as he spoke to his partner in crime.
He was obviously talking about the A.R.M Rogue which the two had piloted out here to Alaska to watch out for Helldivers troop movement from a newly
located oil rigging site. Orders were to eliminate all who move forward and if possible eliminate the oil rig. The unit was now blanketed with a fair amount of snow since the two have been sitting for three days in the coldest scene of Alaska and even another moment in the cockpit of the mech would have drove Jack insane. Even with company it's hard not to feel alone in such a place. He dropped his helmet to the ground and plopped down into the snow next to it checking his magazines making sure none had shaken lose from the ammou pouches on his chest plate as he sat down. The ground was cold but the suit was warm enough not to have it bother him much.
It didn't take long from his cheeks and nose to turn red as he watched the beautiful blonde walk around the campsite. With every breath fog escaped his lips in a cloud of smoke as he looked back up towards the infinate sky adorned with the sparkle of millions of stars but nothing more breath taking than the bright northern lights that the two had been graced with.
"None of this really matters after all." He said to himself as he gazed to the skies. How he wished he could be out there. Out there in the infinite vastness of space where petty squabbles like leadership and oil and power had little to no effect on everyday life. Just drifting.
